Chapter 77 – Coward’s Fear
----------------------------------------
Someone entered Ramiel’s office, a shady man, with stubble, wearing black clothing, this man was quite built, yet he was able to slide through the room unnoticed. He opens the door to a small room, seeing his target. The thug licked his lips, and he cracked his neck, as he immediately rushes at Ramiel who was trying to rest.
Ramiel who was agonizing in pain saw the shady man pounce at him, he rolled out of his bed, and he glances at the shady man making a loud smack on his bed.
Fear crept into Ramiel’s head, he shivered for a while, but his mind went numb, his mind went one track, as his fear of dying immediately took control of him.
“Come on now, fight!|
The shady man kicks at Ramiel with the intent to push him away. Ramiel gathered mana on his hand, producing a very bright light that blinded the shady man. The shady man saw white as the overcasted glow spell blinded him. Ramiel saw his chance, he pointed his right hand again at the man’s torso, and he casts a Hallowed Arrow. The shady man noticed the danger, honed through the years of fighting he ducked and manage to avoid the hallowed arrow. His vision going back to normal, he immediately charges at Ramiel and slammed him to the wall.
Ramiel felt like he was going to faint. The impact vibrated his body, and as he saw the shady man about to punch his lights out, he immediately pointed his left hand and made use of his elemental bracer to create dust. The dust stunned the shady man, enough for Ramiel to escape and limply ran out of the small room!
Ramiel then was about to exit out of his room, only to see the door stuck. The shady man already made sure he wouldn’t escape. Fear crept yet again at Ramiel, but instead of despairing, he smiled at his situation as if maddened. He turned his face at the small room’s door and prepared the Holy Chains Spell to bind the man that is possibly after his life.
Ramiel waited for the man to recover, and as the man showed himself out of the door, Ramiel deployed the chains and bound the man. The man was unable to move for a moment, Ramiel immediately flowed water from his elemental bracer, and froze it, making a spear made of ice. Using the icy spear to keep his distance, Ramiel was about to stab the shady man in the throat, but the shady man made himself fall on the floor, and as if he was used to doing it, he wormed his way out of the binding spell.
Seeing him get out of the spell, Ramiel tried to stab again, only for the shady man to draw his club and smashed the fragile spear made of ice. After smashing the icy spear, the man tackled Ramiel to the ground. Using his club, he was about to knock Ramiel out only, to see a Cheshire smile plastered on his face. Shocked by the hideous smile, the thug blanks out, and overlook Ramiel creating a torch-like flame on his left hand, and plunging it on the shady man’s face.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
The shady man screamed loudly as his face burn. Ramiel, who saw the chance, immediately mounted the man’s torso, and use his left palm to slap the man’s mouth. Holding the shady man’s mouth open, Ramiel poured loads of water into the man’s mouth. But he wasn’t drowning the man with water, but instead, when the water entered through the man’s throat and esophagus Ramiel froze the water, solidifying the water inside the man!
The man anguished, he tried to take the solidified water away from his body, but Ramiel, who was so afraid of the man getting up again, stood up, and use his right leg to stomp on the block of ice stuck in his throat!
This action punctured the ice through the man’s torso, and before long Ramiel saw blood flow out of the man’s mouth.
The shady man’s breathing stopped, but Ramiel, who was still in a panic, grabbed the carved chair in his office and smashed the chair’s leg at the man’s head.
Ramiel made sure that the man was dead, and even though it wasn’t necessary anymore to do that, Ramiel still did out of fear.
“Hah...Hah...Hah...”
Ramiel panted as his nerves slowly calmed down, he then suddenly felt the pain he was feeling a while ago, and since the adrenaline pumping experience was over, and his condition went back to what it was before he was attacked. The fear numbed his pain, but with the fear slightly gone, Ramiel was able to think normally again. His mind went one track on him, a simple flight or fight response that allowed him to fight.
By no means had he done it because of some sort of instinct awakening inside him. He merely used the fear he was feeling to react to what would allow him to survive the dilemma.
Ramiel fell down on the floor. He looks at the dead body of the shady man, flowing blood all over his mouth. He widens his eyes, and he looks down on the floor, raises his palms in front of his eyes, muttering.
“I just need to get used to this damn life...damn it...”
Ramiel was a man born of the modern world, and in his head, the act of murder is a great sin. But, even with that, he still believes that not fighting back would be only foolish of him. Sure he was a coward, but it doesn’t mean that he would be cowardly when it comes to his own life!
I need to inform them about this...
Ramiel made up his mind. He stood up enduring the pain he is feeling. The door was stuck, and since he wanted to get away from the room in order to report what happened, he casts a hallowed arrow spell, as he then targeted the knob of the door.
The knob was hit by the hallowed arrow, seeing it open, Ramiel ran limply out of the room, with his legs taking him to the guild master’s room.
