Chapter 149 – Will of Protection 9
----------------------------------------
With the Inquisitors taking control of the fort things calmed down. The Bishop instructed the priests in the area to conduct healing to the injured while captain made sure to ramp up the defenses along with the few inquisitors trying to secure the area.
The Inquisitor leader that arrive in the Fort waited near the make entrance of the earthen wall built by the earth magus’s. They were preparing to leave along with the Bishop and Peronell. Ramiel was on the side of Peronell acting as a decoration for her.
If it wasn’t for Peronell’s wishes then the Inquisitor leader wouldn’t have let Ramiel come with them. In fact, it wasn’t for the fact that most of the magic wielding inquisitors containing the walls from the lesser beings then they would have defeated the undead girdled dragon.
The Dragon was something the inquisitor could handle but with its flight and curses, it would be impossible to go against it without constant purification. The King of Gann was quite a magic knight. He was someone versed in both holy smiting arts and of that of the dark. Hence when the dragon attacked the King of Gann was quick enough to respond and managed to take control of the situation.
The King of Gann was no ordinary man after all if he was then he wouldn’t be able to control a country with an iron fist and manage to secure the undying loyalty of the Inquisitor legion. This made him powerful enough to scare any forces going against his nation. He had control of trade routes, the merchants and the prices of goods and in contact with far continents beyond Gann and Hillines.
The Loyal Inquisitors of Gann hail the King for his greatness. Yet, with the King almost sacrificing himself to bring down an undead girdled dragon despite no backup made the Inquisitor shamed. But now that they have Peronell helping them victory might be not far from them.
The Group walked around the ruined streets of the City of Soren. Debris was everywhere, the roads were split, there giant holes everywhere and dead covered the ground. The thick smell of blood hung up in the air. If it wasn’t for the group being used to the blood they would have vomited.
Peronell was calm as water. Ramiel who was just behind calmly followed while observing the damages around the city. It was quite a tragedy, and to think that the city was once brimming with life is now a shit hole filled with despair. It was an unfortunate scene and Ramiel could not help but feel sorry for the city.

The Group continued within a long winded route. The roads were not accessible due to the rubble, debris, and giant holes. So they have to take longer routes. Along the way, they encountered the lesser beings but they far no better than target dummies with the group consist of an Arch Priest, elite inquisitors that specialize in everything and a magick archer at the second highest rank.
Most of the lesser beings known as Grim were murdered in sight.
...
It took a while before the group could arrive in the steps of that leads to the grand castle of the king. The castle of the King of Gann was quite fortified. It has white towering walls that have towers armed with ballista for any air attack. Although the ballista proved quite useless against the undead girdled dragon that could easily regenerate its flesh.
The entrance was blocked by a giant metal gate. This gate was black, and it weighs about a ton so it took long before it could be fully opened by guards of the castle. Ramiel looked around for a moment and saw the giant holes around the grand castle. It was a big as circle swimming pool and the biggest were as big as football fields.
The buildings around were destroyed. Ramiel could see that this place was filled with nobles. They are still in their houses despite the quake which would explain the heavy presence of the guards. The gate finally opened for the group and they started a rough climb.
While climbing Ramiel could see the ruined city with a good view. Blacks smokes are everywhere, sparks of spells could be seen on the distance walls as echoed around. Ramiel could still see the blood red sky. The images of the skull weren’t going away and it could be said that the scene before him looked that of an apocalypse. He wondered what will happen to this world.
“It has nothing to do with me.”
Ramiel thought as he follows Peronell back. Her eyes were looking around, pretty distracted. She seems to be feeling safe with the inquisitors around but Ramiel wasn’t that feeling safe. He was paranoid at every step, and even the Inquisitors around the group could feel his paranoia.
They wanted to calm Ramiel down but with them taking a step to the top of the path where the castle stands. They didn’t waste time and went to see the king that should be at the top of the castle sitting on his throne. It was quite a walk but once the group arrived they saw the King with his golden dyed armor wielding his sword and shield. He looked of holy and they were in awe.
However, they saw the King suddenly move his blade. The People who were in awe tried to look back but before they can even do so they saw the undead girdled dragon appearing out of a lone warp gate opening its fangs at the group. The Group dodged immediately but even so one of them was caught.
“PERONELL!”
Seeing the one that got caught, Ramiel’s eyes burned red, his limbs move on their own and the black veins around his body bulge as his body gets covered with a protective aura and a barrier. His eyes that of a raging beast, Ramiel didn’t dare to wait for a second as he uses the recoil of his improvise blast magic to launch himself at the undead wyrm!
