Chapter 100 – No Rest for the Wicked
----------------------------------------
Ramiel and Sheriwn are being chased by mounted barbarians.
Their figure can be seen right behind their back.
Ramiel felt scared at the thought of being hunted down by these barbarians. His heart was beating rapidly, enough for him to want to vomit.
“FASTERRRRRRRRRRRR”
“I AM GOING FAST AS I CAN DAMN IT!”
Sheriwn complained as he tries to focus on controlling the Hawkhorse they are riding. With the two of them riding the mount, it was obvious for the Hawkhorse to be slower.
Ramiel was feeling anxious about their position. If he wasn’t slightly intoxicated then he probably wouldn’t be able to be as calm as he is right now. In fact, he was able to defend the mount awhile ago with a bit of luck. He managed to fend off a strong looking barbarian and blasted her chest.
He managed to heavily injure the barbarian while at the same time, he manages to take a glance of those firm bouncy peaks that the barbarian lady had. Although it was by accident, seeing such magnificent things made a mark on Ramiel’s head.
He was drunk with a bit of alcohol so it was something he cannot avoid. In fact, he felt like all of this happening because he is drunk. Ramiel wanted to escape this dream, but seeing the terror behind him, made Ramiel sober.
“FIRE THEM FOR FUCKS SAKE DO SOMETHING!”
“HOLD UP!”
Ramiel muttered the incantations for the hallowed spell and fired it at one of the barbarians.
Ramiel missed the barbarian.
Ramiel clicked his tongue as he instead took his repeating crossbow and fired at the mounted barbarians. Obviously, with how fast they are going Ramiel always misses his target.
He manages to delay the barbarians but it wasn’t enough to take them down.
Ramiel clicked the trigger of his crossbow and found out that it is not firing.
Clicking his tongue in frustration, Ramiel took a few bolts from his waist and reloaded his repeater. But since it was shaky, almost all of his bolts fell to the ground.
“DAMN ITTTTTT”
Ramiel fire at the barbarians one after another and somehow manage to hit one of the mounted beasts. He wasn’t much of a marksman and considering how hard it is to aim at a moving mount. Ramiel was lucky enough to hit one!
But that wasn’t enough to save them from mounted barbarians who are expert in hunting. They hunt even faster and ferocious creatures back in the savages land so this chase was nothing to them.
Ramiel felt that pressure and seeing that they are climbing up in a hill of sands. An idea popped into his head. He immediately used his elemental bracer and lowered his body down.
“What are you doing you are going to fall!”
“Hold me tight then!”
“FUCK!”
Sheriwn decided to trust Ramiel and held him with one of his hand.
Ramiel then started using his elemental bracer to create a screen made of dust to lower their visibility. But it wasn’t just that. He also created loads of water with his elemental bracer and flooded the slope that they are climbing.
Doing so made Ramiel overcast again and strain himself. He could feel his right leg, his throat, and the side of his face aching in pain.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Ramiel gritted his teeth despite that!
He then forced himself to cast another hallowed arrow and added thunder to it. With the Thunder hallowed arrow floating on his left hand, Ramiel waited for him to hear the sounds of the barbarians mounts stepping into the water he created before firing the thundered arrow to the pool of water he created!
The arrow strikes the water and started to electrocute the mounted barbarians.
“HOLY SHIT THAT WAS GREAT MAN!”
Sheriwn commented after seeing such actions from Ramiel. But before long, the two same some of the mounted barbarians managing to dodge the electrified water, and it made the two feel fear crept back again.
“CAST ANOTHER ONE!”
“I AM DRAINED!”
“FUCK THAT, HOW ABOUT YOU TRY AGAIN MAN!”
Sheriwn urged Ramiel to do so. Ramiel tried but seeing that he wasn’t even able to muster a spark. He forgets about it and didn’t dare to continue.
“ATTACK THEM”
“I AM DRAINED DAMN IT! I CANNOT EVEN LIGHT UP A SPARK!”
“AT THIS RATE THEY ARE GOING TO CATCH US IF WE GO DOWNHILL DAMN IT!”
Sheriwn knows that if they go down this slope of sand the barbarians would be able to speed up and catch them! It was an obvious happening that they would do that considering that they are seasoned hunters.
Ramiel could also understand that sooner or later they will be caught by the barbarians chasing them.
Ramiel didn’t want to die.
He didn’t want to get captured.
He feared for his life and to him, there is nothing important to him other than his own life!
Because of that dark thoughts and whispers sounded out on Ramiel’s head. He remembered one of the statements that Sheriwn made about the Hawkhorse and the most logical thing to do!
“Will we speed up if I jump now?”
“What?” Sheriwn was surprised at what Ramiel said.
But nonetheless he answered:
“Yes, if there is only one riding this Hawkhorse then the probability of escaping is much higher!”
“I see...then goodbye Sheriwn.”
“What are you-“
Sheriwn heard the sound of metal.
Then a burning sensation happened on his neck and looking back, seeing a blade sticking up from Ramiel’s bracer, digging into his neck. Sheriwn felt shocked and enraged.
“You motherfuck-er”
“I am sorry...”
Ramiel inserted the blade deeper into Sheriwn’s neck and pushed him out of the Hawkhorse’s back.
Sheriwn landed on the ground heavily.
Spent and without mana, Sheriwn wasn’t able to heal the wound on his neck.
“YOU FUCKING BACKSTABBER I SHOULDN’T HAVE TRUSTED YOUR LIMPED ASS! DAMN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU – AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”
Sheriwn shouted with blood coming out of his mouth. But as he did that the barbarians were closed to him and stabbed him.
Ramiel looked at the impaled and dead Sheriwn with abyss-like eyes. He didn’t want to die and seeing that there is no way Sheriwn would jump down. He had no choice but to stab Sheriwn in the back to make his escape.
The Hawkhorse got lighter with Ramiel just on it.
The barbarians were still chasing after Ramiel but with the speed of the Hawkhorse improving. Ramiel would be able to outrun the mounted barbarians.
Guilt appeared on Ramiel but with how afraid he was to die. His volition to live outweighed his guilt. He knows that he has done something terrible.
Knowing this, Ramiel thinks that he won’t be able to take a good rest for a while.
