Chapter 79 – Faulted Guild Master

----------------------------------------

Randal went back to his office with a downtrodden face, he saw Ramiel, his face looks like he was about to explode in stress. Randal turned to Dall, he gestured for her to leave, and without even asking, Dall left along with Eziel.

“Do you know what you just did?”

“I protected myself.”

“I see. But have you read the rules of the guild?”

“Do not kill inside the guild. I know, but Sir, I was only protecting myself. I didn’t even want to kill!” Ramiel said with his eyes trembling. One could see that he is near tears; his body seems to be in pain as he answered too.

“I know, but the man is a member of the guild. Honestly, as per tradition, he was supposed to test you out. His only intent was to test your ability to fight back, but who would have thought that he died, not being able to even guve up at the end.”

“You mean...”

“Yes, it is a tradition for the guild to send someone out to test one’s abilities. That man who attacked you has been working for the guild as a pseudo member, yet somehow only you were able to kill him. Many already went so far and beat the heck out of that man, yet you were the only one to be able to kill him that brutally. Did you even listen to him surrender?”

“No, I didn’t!” Ramiel slammed his fist on the desk. “Why the fuck would I do that? I thought he was going to kill me! And obviously, I would fight back! I can’t fight for shit and I was too afraid! And somehow you fucking expect me to just suddenly listen to his pleas as I stuff his mouth with water, freeze it and stomp it hard to the point he would fucking die? I am sorry Sir, but I could not hear his voice as he drowns and screams as I kill him!”

“...”

Randal went silent as Ramiel lashes out at him. He joined his hands together, contemplating on how the thug he sent died just like that. Usually, he would just surrender when faced with defeat, but this time, he wasn’t able to simply because of how Ramiel killed him.

He stuffed the thug’s mouth with water, solidified it and use it like some nail, to somehow disfigure the insides of the thug’s throat. Randal felt like it was a brutal way to die.

“So he wasn’t even able to surrender then?”

“Of fucking course not!” Ramiel shouted. “I burned his face, stuffed his mouth with fucking water, and froze the water; obviously he won’t have time to suddenly say: I am fucking sorry this is just a test tehehehehehe—with a fucking ice stuck on his fucking throat, bullshit, what the fuck is wrong with you?”

Ramiel held his head together, unable to stay calm in this situation.

“I know you felt scared, but not even once, that you try to capture the man?”

“Oh no, you aren’t going to go that way,” Ramiel said, pointing his right middle finger at Randal. “Like I said, I was scared, this wasn’t my damn fault, and if there is anyone to fault for all of this then it should be you! I didn’t do nothing wrong, if you want to test me, then tell me that I will be tested so I won’t fucking murder someone!”

Ramiel didn’t hold his anger back, he was so angered by the fact that such things happen, he remembers his panic, the madness that overtook him as he thought his death was imminent. And suddenly now, he learned that all of it is because they just want to test him. Who wouldn’t be mad at a development like that?

“I am not putting the blame on you. I am merely telling you what I think. This is my fault too, I underestimated you, and I thought you wouldn’t be able to take him down.”

“Thanks for the confidence boss, really appreciate that, fuck!” Ramiel whined.

Randal touched his left palm, he looks at his desk, then to Ramiel as he says: “So do you hate the guild now? Do you want to quit now that this happened?”

“The obvious choice would be that!” Ramiel said. “But, I may be lacking sometimes in the wisdom department, but it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t take advantage of this! So I want you to apologize to me, give me reparations and I want a house, I don’t want to stay in that fucking office anymore.”

“So you are negotiating...does this mean you are going to quit?”Randal said with chilling eyes.

“No, I know this is terrible, but just by the fact that this shit happened, and you giving me this leverage is good enough for me. I will do my work; I will stay as a doctor for the guild, but no way in fucking hell that I would be talking to you, it should be obvious by now, but I hate you, I will say this honestly, and even though I want to punch you in the face, I know that someone like you who leads this guild won’t be that easy to hit. So I am taking this the smart way.” Ramiel said within one breath.

“I see,” Randal said as he stands up. “Then I accept this condition, I apologize that your first day in our humble guild has come to this, this is my fault, for underestimating you, and this I admit.” He bowed his head.

Ramiel looked at the bowing Randal, he looks sideway, and then said:

“Please let me have my things...”

“I will have Dall bring your things...and even though this happened, I hope that you wouldn’t stop working for our guild. Eziel told me about your knowledge in healing, and even I would be too stupid to let go of someone that possesses knowledge like that. Once again, forgive me for my blunders.”

Ramiel didn’t say anything as he lifelessly went out of the guild master’s office. His first day in the Fighter’s Guild turned out to be a disaster, making Ramiel bitter, at the thought he once had, that things would be comfortable...
