Two days have passed since Genesis and Alef arrived at the small village. However, their relationship never improved or more to say, Genesis shrug Alef all the time. True to her words, Genesis never made any attempt to grab her staff from Alef.
Alef, on the other hand, kept her attention to Genesis more than the staff that could potentially extinguish her life. Genesis in unwary of Alef’s observation as she does what she is best at.
“Everyone, to show our deepest gratitude to Miss Genesis for showing us a miracle, we decided that we will also revere the God she serves. As such, we need your cooperation to establish our own chapel in this village.” Derill said as he gathered all of the adults at the village square.
Standing behind Derill is Genesis who hold her chin up and looks at the villager as if they are already going to adhere to her will. It was no mere arrogance, Genesis is confident that people are going to be swayed by her.
“Derill, she has done something great and the miracle that she showed is undeniable, however, I don’t think the condition of making a chapel at this season is a good idea.” Protested by one of the villagers.
“Also, our village never had any preacher or even a priest. Not to mention, something like faith in God is something new to us.” Another villager exclaimed.
“B-But she did something that…!” Derill tried to reason.
“I’m not sure about establishing something we are not used to, Derill. Sure she did a deed but let us give them all the gratitude we can to extend to them. Please understand it.” A voice of reasoning resounded from another one.
Derill can’t persuade them as each and every individual has their own priorities and opinion about it. Some are indecisive, some are reluctant, and some are even torn between two decisions.
The Village Chief together with the elder son, Fritz, watches from afar. The two of them are also conflicted about the matter. Derill was the one who said he wanted to persuade the people and depending on the outcome, they will adhere to it.
But as the situation goes, it seems Derill is going to fail and the plan is going to fall apart. Originally, Genesis plans to persuade the people herself but Derill jumps in to show off. The result, the situation is getting worse.
Alef who is watching the situation let out an impish smirk. She is looking at the fuss the villagers are making due to a simple matter of faith.
“Blessed by the gods my arse. Everything won’t go your way like you always wanted to. Thinking back, things didn’t go her way too when that King from Mesola tried to abduct her. If I wasn’t there, various things have already been done to her.” Alef muttered to herself with arrogance.
However, even with the commotion, Genesis remained calm and unmoved. Seeing that the situation is unfavorable, she let out a small sigh.
She then took a step forward and as if everyone in the place was struck by a lighting, their attention immediately shifted to Genesis. Small as she is, her presence is undeniably compelling and noticeable.
“I am displeased that all of you are thinking of such trivial thing.” Genesis said with a pressuring tone.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
Naturally, the villagers find it unpleasant as she looks down on them. Even Derill becomes anxious about Genesis’ sudden action. Alef sharpens her eyes and prepares her body to move in a blast if ever someone were to stone her.
“A chapel? Then what? A monument, pillar, or even a statue? It’s laughable that this village is even capable of doing such thing.” She added another rude remark that pushes the village from unpleasant to anger.
However, none move from their place and none attempted to do anything as she is the Village Chief’s benefactor.
“Hear me faithless beings, faith has nothing to do with such infrastructures. If you really think that you need something grand to thank our Lord Eresti, then you are mistaken. Those are only to show our extended gratitude, however, your heartfelt reverence and faith are what truly Lord Eresti cherish the most.” Genesis’ tone turned from a mortifying to a gentle but stern one.
“Everything can start somewhere as long as you cherish it in your heart. As you see more of this world, all the beautiful creations, and all of the things that compose this world, you all will be thankful to Lord Eresti.” She finishes.
Overwhelming silent started wafting in the air as if the commotion earlier was a lie. All of the attention shifted to Genesis and to her words alone.
Her voice, extremely persuading, her countenance, it’s purely angelic, her demeanor, it’s utterly divine. Genesis’ charisma stands out even more than her own son, Falikh. She is an outright embodiment of charisma.
“Maybe at spring, we can actually start out something…” One of the villagers muttered.
“T-That’s right! Won’t be a fresh start for us to have something new? I’d always thought of heading to the capital to learn there myself to heal people.” A young aspiring man said so.
The villagers started giving out positive response one by one. The plan to revere a religion is without a doubt would be a success.
Genesis let out a small grin as she watches the people opinion of her skyrocketing. Derill, who failed to bring his speech a fruition, stares at Genesis admiringly. Genesis notices his gaze and spoke to him.
“Young boy, you have a lot to learn. If you want to follow me, you should at least know how to persuade a single person. That’s where it all starts.” Genesis lectured him with a bewitching gaze.
“Y-Yes! Miss Genesis…wait…young boy?” Derill’s last words were thoroughly ignored as Genesis kept her attention to the crowd.
From one corner, the Village Chief and Fritz nod approvingly, from the other side, Alef was there, staring at Genesis like she did something unbelievable again.
“That’s not a feat of simple persuasion can do! People’s decision are faltering and yet, she was able to allure them with her words alone. Is that really a simple persuasion? Or perhaps…Guidance?” Alef couldn’t believe it.
“Don’t tell me because she is blessed by the gods? Such thing doesn't even exist…wait…” Alef thought came to halt when she realized something.
“Me…saving her at that moment…was also part of that coincidences called blessing?!” Her face twists in vexation as she thought of that.
“Have I…been always dancing at the top of her palm?!” Alef concluded with rageful face.
Meanwhile, Genesis who is currently preaching and telling the villagers the greatness of miracles, healing power, and Lord Eresti, put on a triumphant smile.
“This may have diverted from my original plan but I can still make use of these people. Moreover, if we move to another village, we can spread the reverence of Lord Eresti. Soon…soon everything will be…” Genesis thought inwardly.
The winter passes by, a new plan has been set in motion.
The Mesola Kingdom prepares to set aflame another war.
As for the duration of the entirety of winter, more and more villages, towns, and even cities have been converted to the faith for Lord Eresti.
The Kingdom of Sirius and the Kingdom of Breille slowly builds their diplomatic relations through the effort of Princess Meriyal Breille and the active participation of the Demon Lord herself, Ivy Hellbeing.
And lastly, the mysterious Dragon Priest that Alef talked about and what significance would it have in the tale.
However, Falikh and the band of bandits haven't yet shown their performances in the field of power struggling between kingdoms, between races, and most of all, between the mortals and divines.
Their opening act will start as spring blooms and flowers rise from the ground.
