Chapter 114: Does it Make You Happy? 6

“What you ask…I’m trying to find your damn staff. If you’ve just listened to me in the first place, this mess won’t happen.” Alef answered with an as-a-matter of fact tone.

“That’s not what I wanted to hear, you heathen. Why are you bothering yourself to find Claimh Solais? Why are you bothering prolonging what you came to me for? Why are you still trying to keep yourself together with me?” Genesis spelled those questions out with a default countenance, a face with no emotions at all.

“Huh? Of course, I need your divine power. When you gather enough, I’ll extract it from you.” Alef answered as she looks away from Genesis and started searching again.

“Wrong, that’s not what in your mind. You already attempted to kill me for fifty-seven times since we left the premise of the Mesola Kingdom. What’s enough divine power for you anyway?” Genesis confronted Alef with questions that seemingly trying to pry answers.

“……” Alef didn’t answer as she herself is also confused.

“Fine, I’ll go find Claimh Solais myself.” Genesis said as she dove into the lake to find her staff but…

“Hey!! You can’t even swim!” Alef immediately scooped Genesis up from the deeper part of the lake.

“Let me go!” Genesis shouted as she tried to break free from Alef’s hand.

“What’s gotten into you?! You could have died, you know!” Alef replied with an annoyed face.

“You concern for my wellbeing is but a naught. For some heathen like you who can’t even bring down your blade into my throat for your own goal disgusts me. You have no pride, no resolve, and not even an ounce of respect for the person you need to kill.” Genesis lashes at Alef as her voice becomes louder.

“This damn bitch…!” Alef sprouted an enrage countenance as she brought out the dagger that she needs to use.

“Fine, stab me, right here, right now! I am prepared for it, yet, your resolution dissolves into a bubble. You are not even one to satisfy your own ego, you are just making fun of my own pride now.” Genesis rips the neck part of her dress and laid bare her chest to Alef.

“Kuh…” Alef grits her teeth as the dagger in her hand stayed where it is and her shoulder trembles. Her face is distorted in both anguish and anger but she cannot bring herself to stab the dagger into the chest presented to her.

“Now, kill me! Or are you like all of the heathens out there?! Playing with your food before you eat it?! Barbaric, merciless, and not feeling an even ounce of suffering from others! It’s always been like this! Human, non-human, all of you are a hypocrite!” Genesis lashes out this time on Alef.

“Go on! I have a wish to die but those prayers of mine could not be heard anymore! I am but a child cursed by my own mother!” Genesis’ strong and steadfast countenance crumbles into nothing but a despair-filled one and eyes relieving all of her life’s suffering.

“Two hundred years ago, when the Lord Eresti died, my mother was inflicted by a curse that turned her into an immortal! Despairing that she will not meet her end, she found a way to transfer the curse bestowed to her by the parting of Lord Eresti to me! The only solution that I have is to revive Lord Eresti again and pray for this curse to be lifted!” Genesis pounds her hands on Alef as bitter tears started flowing from her eyes.

“I, who was a frail thirteen years old child, didn’t even know that meaning of this curse at that time. It was too late when I knew that this curse will bring me nothing but horrid suffering! For two hundred years, I stayed like this, child-like, frail constitution, and even strong emotion tantrums. It might be a short year for you heathens but for us humans, to see our loved one disappearing in the face of time, how painful such parting can be…” Genesis bit her lower lip as while clenching her fist.

“And alas, I found myself in despair and desperation. Decades ago, I started gathering divine power in preparation to revive Lord Eresti. One more means for me to remove the curse is to have a daughter. However, it is not just an ordinary daughter, I need a vessel who can contain divine power as such, the royal family of Mesola has. I have two options already for me to part with this wretched immortality but I was not granted by a daughter but instead, Falikh came into my life. It was my first time having a child that I do not know how to react…and before that, Falhus died. That’s why I need Falikh to conceive a child with me for the chances of having a daughter or a next vessel.” Genesis falls to her knees as she gave out those words tinged with melancholy.

“And the divine power that you wanted from me…the chalice of faith where I keep them…hasn’t even filled a quarter of it even though I’ve been gathering for decades now…” Genesis hangs her head lifelessly as if hope has left her.

“I see, so you are immortal, huh?” A voice filled with rage and pride suddenly resounded. What appears in the blanket of the forest are Falikh and Oliver.

Everyone in the place immediately got their attention pulled towards their direction, especially Genesis who saw Falikh.

“Son…Falikh…” Genesis slowly stood from her place and started walking towards him.

“Mother, is that…all of the worries that you carry?” Falikh asked with a gentle eye that seemingly doesn’t sympathize with her but neither scorns her.

“Falikh…I…I…!” Genesis, with face regaining hope, said, however, in the next moment.

WHOOSH

A fan made of metal breezes throughout the place that hovers violently across Genesis’ torso. And before anyone realizes it, Oliver has already hacked Genesis’ upper body away from her lower body. There’s no blood nor flesh as the attack was so strong it left nothing.

“You bore me. I’ve lost interest in you. It is as Sir Falikh said, take away your faith and you will turn into a lifeless husk. I’m ashamed that I harbored rage against you.” Oliver said in a cold voice as she turns around after seemingly murdering Genesis.

“This is…far too cruel and terrible…” Victoria thought as she watches the scene with saddened eyes.

“Ahh….Ahhhh….AHHHH!” Alef, seeing how Genesis body splatters into the air, cried in utter despair as she runs towards what’s left of her.

“No…no! No…! Noo!!” Alef tried to search with her eyes everywhere to find Genesis’ upper body, however, she found none. Tears mercilessly streamed from her eyes and her own chest tightens as rage simply build up.

“You…You…why did you kill her?!” Alef shouted towards Oliver and glared at her as if she is cursing her.

“You are that dragon girl from the other day? I can’t believe someone like you is following around a non-human hater like that woman. What an ironic, yet dumb tale.” Oliver deliver her words as if she is making fun of Alef.

“Ugghh…!” Alef’s rage has reached its peak.

A torrent of magical power spins around her whole body and wings bigger than she ever has grown from her back. The horns have grown several times bigger and the scales on her body gleams in a jade hue. After that, her body grows even bigger and before long, she turned into a dragon, her true form.

“I won’t forgive!” Alef immediately dove at Oliver.

“This is bad! Sir Falikh!” Oliver panics and covered Falikh with her body from the incoming danger.

Oliver immediately knew that there’s a whole new difference in sheer strength if she is fighting a dragon now. If all she can do now is to protect Falikh, that’s what she is going to do.

“Tsk, I heard a lot of crybabies today.” Another voice jumps into the fray.

Victoria and Spoof are about to move to save Falikh and Oliver, however, they are a few seconds slower. At that moment, a warhammer came flying towards Alef and hit her in the forehead.

“Graaaaghhh!” Alef cried with a blood-curdling scream.

The one who came out from the forest is none other than Reysha Einhart.

“This will leave a bad taste in my mouth…” She thought as she looks at the surrounding and saw that Genesis’ body is once again, firm and intact and faintly breathing.

Like what she said, she is an immortal.

“If I have not found the coordinates where Yrsha warped, I wonder what would really happen here…” Reysha breathed a sigh of relief to see that Yrsha is fine but once again warps her countenance in sadness.

“I don’t understand you. Maybe because I’ve lived a fulfilled life in the past. Maybe because I was reborn into a loving family…I cannot fathom what pain you carry.” Reysha inwardly said as she sends a gaze of pity to Genesis.

She then once again directed her sight to Alef who has recovered from the stun and charges at Reysha now.

Reysha clenches her fist and throws an uppercut.

Her punch was so strong that Alef’s whole body was flung upward and she lost consciousness. Alef then reverted back to her normal humanoid form and lands on the lake with a splash.

“This is will truly…leave a bad taste in my mouth…” Reysha spelled out those words once again.
