Chapter 113: Does it Make You Happy? 5

Because of the explosion caused by the Trumpets of Jericho, the supposed cabin was devastated and the lakeshore is infested with tons of craters. All of the assassins are sprawled everywhere and luckily, just unconscious after that explosion.

The only one who is barely conscious was the leader of the assassin as he desperately stands on his gait. Spoof and the others who hid behind the trees to take cover slowly emerges while Victoria lands on the ground from the sky.

“Phew, I tried my best not to kill anyone, okay? Well, as far as I can see, the only poor victim was the cabin, Ahahaha!” Victoria laughs as she scratches the back of her head.

Spoof walks towards the sole survivor of the barrages and the man glares at him.

“Code Zero, so this is you now…” The man snickers as he glare daggers at Spoof.

Spoof could only look at the man with eyes gentle and understanding. Behind the tattered scarf that covers half of his face, Spoof sprouted a faint smile.

“Code Eight C…because you don’t want to kill, they killed Code Eight C instead. Code Zero, Does it make you happy, knowing that you freed yourself of the shackles binding you, at the cost of the life of the girl whom you treated as your little sister?” The man said trying to shake Spoof’s mentality.

“Hey, guys! It’s a mithril! I say, mithril! This will fetch us a lot!” Zirk shouted as he started looting the unconscious assassins.

“Ah, this is a good souvenir for the leader.” Marc said as he proceeds to strip the assassins one by one of their equipment.

“Really?! Hey, hey, I’ll loot them too! This is kind of getting exciting! Defeating foes them gaining some experience and item, it’s like an RPG!” Victoria started imitating Marc and Zirk too.

“Ah, Sir Mysterious guy!” Yrsha, who was able to move again, rushes to Spoof like a lovestruck maiden.

Spoof was startled Yrsha dives on his back. His mind got more troubled than what the man said. Spoof’s face flared in a cherry blush as Yrsha rubs her cheek on him.

“Hey, hey, let’s get married, okay? I never felt this way before and you made my heart beat so fast!” Yrsha said as she clings to Spoof.

Spoof thought that he can become Reysha’s older brother.

“……!” Spoof started panicking and started throwing his hand on the air to make hand gestures.

“Oh, are you mute? That’s fine by me!~” Yrsha happily said.

The scene in front of the man was nothing like what he expected. He thought of disorienting Spoof’s mind by trying to bring up his past but for Spoof himself, the man’s words were nothing but a breeze.

The man is one of Spoof’s acquaintance, in reality, however, they are not close.

Even now, Spoof doesn’t show any familiarity with the man and treated him as nothing but the foe he is.

“I see…so you found something for you. Well, your past will come haunting you sooner or later.” The man thought as he falls down and loses his consciousness.

Stolen novel; please report.

Spoof knows of his past and accepted it well. He is aware that there are things that he cannot escape but that’s precisely why Spoof won’t run away anymore.

But that matter should be set aside for now.

“I’ve fallen in love for you, please marry me. I’ll tell Reysha that I want to marry you, I'm also aware of your evil organization and plans and I wanted to help!” Yrsha bluntly said with a straight face.

“Hey now, we’re not an evil organization! We’re just a slightly bad organization!” Victoria argues as she loots another assassin.

“Yo, that doesn’t really make any difference! Anyway, missy, we are bandits for a cause. If you can afford to lose your place to stay in this kingdom, you are welcome.” Zirk corrected with a stern face.

“Seriously? Ersha would flip a table if she ever heard that I fall in love with a bandit. I can’t help it though, he just straight up stole my heart!~” Yrsha squeals as he tightens her hug on Spoof’s arm.

“I bet Reysha would f*cking kill you.” Marc commented and his words are like ice slowly slipping down to Spoof’s spine.

Panic ensues inside Spoof’s mind.

Even with bodies lying unconscious around them, they found time to start a merry atmosphere. But even with the atmosphere natural to the band of bandits, someone emerges from the hiding of the trees.

“Ugghh…what…” Alef shows herself while holding her head as a slight headache attacks her.

“Oh my, oh my, are you fine, Miss cutie pie?” Victoria, upon the sight of Alef, moves like a flash in front of the dragon girl while holding her hand.

“You are…the summoned hero, Victoria…?” Alef recognizes Victoria and knits her eyebrows in confusion. She then lifts her head and saw the devastating scene of the aftermath of Trumpets of Jericho.

“Je t'aime!~ Indeed, it is I, Victoria, the one who brings Victory, at your service.” Victoria said with glinting flash of a smile.

“What in the world…what happened to our enemies…? What happened to the cabin? Where’s that woman…?! Where is she?! Where’s Genesis?!” Alef panics as she cannot find Genesis in their group.

“Ah, she’s fine. I think she was with a man earlier. She should be around somewhere.” Victoria, realizing that her charm doesn’t work on Alef, took a formal stance.

Upon hearing Victoria’s words of assurance, Alef breathed a sigh of relief as she looks down. Thereafter, a gloom started wafting around her while she bit her lips as she remembers how she was defeated.

“I’m too weak…” She muttered to herself as if she is cursing.

“Heee? Beating yourself over strength and weakness? I bet you have a lot of time.” Zirk, who heard of Alef’s self-loathing, scoffs at her with a smile.

“Human, huh? What're the likes of you know? You have neither honor nor dignity as a race so don’t talk as if you know everything.” Alef snaps at him and glared daggers.

“True, humans do not have time for honors and such, the way other races seeks for it, however, we humans don’t bother with it as we can immediately find strength lying everywhere. We’re crafty and flexible and our survival instinct screams louder than your dignity.” Marc support Zirk’s words.

“Tsk, I can’t believe my lord tries to cherish beings like you…” Alef said as if she is spitting those words.

“Say, we do not have any idea of what’s going on. Why is the Archbishop here in the territory she shouldn’t be.” Yrsha gave chase to the main objective as to why she is here.

“Don’t stick your nose further on our business.” Alef snarls as she started walking towards the ruins that were once called a cabin.

“Hey, hey, is that an attitude you should be taking on when we just saved your hides?” Zirk stops whatever he is doing and started pointing at Alef.

“Humans have gone long tarnished the sanctity of appreciation. You don’t deserve it.” Alef nonchalantly said without even batting an eye to Zirk anymore and proceed to walk towards the ruins of the cabin.

“You--!” Zirk was about to reply with a hot-headed decision but Marc holds his mouth off.

Wordlessly, Alef started toppling the rubbles one by one.

“That damn staff of the woman…” Alef muttered angrily as she started looking for Claimh Solais. “Couldn’t it be…it was blown into the lake…?” she added as she looks at the lake with a lot of floating debris.

With an angry countenance, Alef started walking towards the lake. Spoof and co. did nothing but watch as Alef grumpily starts searching on the lake.

After a minute has passed, a voice called out to her.

“What do you think you are doing?” a young but cold voice echoes.

“…Huh?” Alef turned around with a stiff countenance and saw Genesis staring down at her.

“Like what I said, what do you think you are doing?” Genesis repeated the question.
