Falikh and Seran stare at each other as the atmosphere froze into a frigid face off. Seran shows a countenance of absolute confidence in his judgment while Falikh sat there with an expression that could only be called flat.
Reysha has an absolute confidence that even Ersha, Yrsha, and her father, Seran, teamed up on her, she would come out victorious, albeit without sustaining any fatal injuries. However, if Reysha attains absolute strength over them, her father has a wide variety of skills.
One of those is his powerful observation skills, an unmatched and exceptional observatory skill which he learned through his experience in the battlefield. A skill, an almost imprinted instinct that enables him to discern the abilities of his foes through their physique alone.
It only proves that Reysha was just too special but everyone in her family didn’t lag behind from being one of out of the norms people.
And that skill is being used right now on Falikh without him being aware of.
“Please, I’m just a normal merchant. I have done so as what a merchant would do.” Falikh smiled at Seran while explaining himself once more.
“Such hubris. We of the Einhart values rightfulness above all else. A random man telling us he is a merchant at the dead of the night. Reysha may have proven that you are her friend but your abilities are far cry from being a merchant who is in need of protection. That only means that in the past, you also deceived Reysha with such setting, no?” Seran glares at Falikh with fierce hostility seething.
“This is bad! Our ad-lib story may fall apart if this goes on. I’d be freaking bitter if this goes haywire after putting in some effort.” Reysha’s mind fell into a panic while keeping a poker face as she stands behind Seran and Mirsha.
“Ersha, you look a little off…” Yrsha muttered beside Ersha while they keep their presences low.
“If what father said about that man deceiving Reysha is true, I’ll spare no time drawing my sword and pointing it at his neck.” Ersha said with a cold tone.
“Well yeah, if you have a bad case of siscon, the reaction is natural. Though, Reysha seems famous, fufufu.” Yrsha decided that on her mind with amusement building up.
As seconds pass by, Falikh didn’t change his expression and kept his smile floated which further garners Seran’s irritation.
“I’m fairly certain now.” Seran declared as he glances ar Mirsha.
From Seran’s gesture, Mirsha nodded once before invoking a magic out of the blue.
A dimensional storage abruptly appeared beside Mirsha and there, she drew a sheathed broadsword and Seran receives it by grabbing the handle and all of the sudden…
WHOOSH
Seran swings the sword singlehandedly towards Falikh.
Of course, as a seasoned warrior with a landslide of experience and being one an Einhart, Seran’s attack is nothing short of weaker than Reysha’s strength, albeit if Reysha exerted a lot of energy, she can swing ten times stronger than that.
However, it is a fact that Seran’s attack cannot be withstood by a human, that is if caught by a human.
CLANK
The incoming broadsword which is still sheathed was deflected and a loud metallic sound reverberated throughout the room. A countenance of pure flabbergast overcomes everyone in the room as the one standing there to deflect the attack was Oliver.
Oliver didn’t even use a sword to parry such giant mass of steel but she just used a steel plated fan.
Stolen story; please report.
Because of her sudden movement, Oliver’s hat flew away from her head, thus, revealing her snowy white hair again together with her fox ears. The bob cut hair sways elegantly as she deflected the sword with one hand.
“If I may, Sir Falkh is secretive of some matters so do us a favor and keep quiet about this. Also, the matter of deceiving the young lady of your household is fictitious. Sir Falkh is a famous upstart merchant and it would be too bland for someone like him to post guard his own merchandise. We could say that hiring high-level adventurers were the norms for them not just to brag but to keep the economy of the Traders Guild and the Adventurers Guild in harmony.” Oliver explained with a calm and cool demeanor.
“But then, an apprentice such as you in tow? That’s a little bit contradictory of some of what you said.” Seran rebutted as he drew away his sword nonchalantly.
“Sir Falkh is not fond of taking advantage of an apprentice learning Trades to use in scuffles with hooligans. Also, it would smear unsightly rumors about him if he uses an apprentice who is from the Beast race.” Oliver replied strongly in a jiffy without missing a beat.
“Oh? That’s understandble.” Seran said with an interested countenance as he returns back to his seat.
“Now, I’ve got to point out at least this much since you’ve entertained us in an amusing way. We may have come knocking late at night but, to suddenly drew your sword at the guest you willingly accepted, there are limitations of what a lord can act inside his own household.” Oliver grins faintly as the glint in her eyes are immediately understood by Seran.
“I see, Oliver or rather, Olivia. The true Sovereign of the Maelous Beast Kingdom. One need considerable knowledge to compete against her. Her arguments are as flawless as Meriyal and in terms of raw strength, she certainly is not lacking. How did she lose in the war against the Mesola Kingdom? Well, factoring that Falikh is the enemy, I doubt there will be room for further discussion.” Reysha inwardly thought as she observes Oliver returning to her seat.
“Father’s abilities in observing physiques don’t seem to work well against a different race. Their strengths work in an unnatural way from us humans.” Ersha thought.
“Now I want her even more!” Yrsha’s flying thoughts as she stares at Oliver with feverish eyes.
“It is as my apprentice said, we want to deal with this matter properly. If you are fine with it, let’s settle this right away.” Falikh advises without losing his confident smile while everything transpired.
Seran then fell in a deep thought as he places his fingers on his chin while brushing the stubbles sticking out. After all that happened, Seran didn’t show any sign of remorse but rather, right now, he is quite jolly.
“Then, for starters, I shall have the servants immediately prepare a room for you two. How’s that sounds? Since I am coming out as the villain here right now, I might as well try to redeem myself.” Seran immediately decided as he gestured at the servants.
“Hahaha, now that’s quite an offer. No, that’s something we really wanted right now. But then again, it won’t end with this kind of treatment. I want to settle this immediately.” Falikh bemusingly replied while nodding twice.
“Here I thought he’d be somewhat a pushover when it comes to these matters. Turns out that he is so cunning that I got lured into this trap. Amusing, really amusing!” Seran said inside his mind as his evaluation of Falikh rises.
“How do we settle this then?” Seran followed up.
“This.” Falikh then pointed at the perfume that Mirsha desires.
“Hmm, now that’s some merchant spirit. You still want to profit amidst your life being in danger earlier.” Seran smiles bitterly as he ponders a little of how much more of a cunning person Falikh is.
“I’m glad you caught on. Madam Fleur’s perfume’s price ranges from a regular of one to three gold. We are talking about regularly circulated perfumes in the market that has an indefinite production. Limited edition perfumes are sold at an astounding price of eight to ten gold. And now, if we are going to price a product that has not been introduced yet and planned to be limited, this one’s price could go up to…thirty gold.” Falikh explained.
“Thirty gold…for just a perfume…women splurges on this?” Seran knitted his brows.
“What? Are you complaining, dear? All of your clothes are brand from Madam Fleur. Thank you for asking because if I hadn’t chosen clothes for you, you’d be wearing dull and stupidly annoying clothes!” Mirsha bluntly voices her shame of Seran’s choice of clothes.
“Ugh…now you are pushing me too hard…fine…I’ll buy it.” Seran threw his hand in the air to surrender and decided to buy the perfume for his wife.
“Oh, but that’s not the deal yet. You see, we’ve come to a lot of household and…there’s a matter of…bidding for it. So far, the highest bid for it is…eighty gold.” Falikh informed them.
“What--?! You’ve got to be kidding me!?” Seran shouted furiously. “How much of a famous personality may this Madam Fleur is, the prices are just…!” Seran burst out to rant, however, Mirsha held out to his arm.
“Dear, you’re not going to? You promise…” Mirsha, a woman in her early forties but still have a young and charming youthfulness and appearance that may even look younger than Yrsha, look at Seran with upturned eyes.
“…I’ll buy it for two hundred gold!” Seran declared while holding onto his chest.
“Sold!” Falikh shouted.
