Chapter 296

Chapter 296

Linuel and the actors were fascinated by what Mark was saying about directors and actors who were hailed as the greatest because they received a prestigious award for being the best in the year they were nominated.

“I would have liked to live in your country. Everyone would hail me as the greatest actress and my name would resound in all of the land and everyone would come to see my movies,” An actress dreamily said.

Based on Linuel and the other actor’s expressions, they were thinking the same thing, dreaming of the fame and glory that famous actors received after winning the award.

“It’s not that easy. Hundreds of thousands of actors, actresses, directors, screenwriters, and different professionals comprised a movie would flock from all over the land to the center of our movie-making industry city but only the luckiest and the most talented ever make it. The rest would fall by the wayside and return to their previous lives with their dreams shattered. And as you know with these types of industries, corruption, and low moral crimes abound. Some actresses and actors were victimized in all ways by those in power and because they dreamed of becoming great in their line of work, they chose to remain silent,” Mark told everyone almost introspectively.

“We understand that there is darkness in everything that is bright and your movie industry is one of the brightest that I’ve ever imagined so I expect that its dark side would be one of the darkest but the dream of receiving the accolades of the people for being the greatest director, actor, and actresses even for just one year, I think that I would pay almost anything that I can give,” Linuel said while looking at the distance dreaming of the Hollywood life even though he had no inkling of what Hollywood was.

“Actually, if you’ve won once, you will not only be famous for the year that you’ve won. It would stay in your career forever that you were one of the greatest,” Mark added kindling to the fire.

All of the people in the circus theater troupe sighed when they heard what Mark said.

“I wish we had something like that but unfortunately we don’t and the fact that we travel all over the land, people would hardly care for our individual names,” Linuel said sadly.

“You’re right Linuel. Something like that is only possible if every household in the land has a Television set so for now, we can only enjoy the accolades of the people from specific locations. At least you are all doing what you love and you’re not somewhere farming,” Mark consoled everyone.

“Thank you for sharing that information. Although we can’t have award-winning bodies for now, we can still strive to be the greatest in all of the land,” Linuel said then he smiled.

“Okay now I feel bad for sharing this information,” Mark said to Linuel.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

“You don’t need to feel that way. Actually, I’m thankful because it renewed my drive to be one of the greatest in the land,” Linuel said.

“You know what, since I feel so bad, I’ll lend you these devices.”

Mark replicated a laptop and a camera with a stand. He didn’t bother supplying any lighting since they could use magic for that.

“This is a camera and you’ve seen a laptop. What this camera does is record whatever you’re doing into a video and that means that you can record your play. After recording, you can edit the video to remove the parts that you don’t like, and voila! You have your own movie!”

Linuel was so excited to learn that there was a device that he could use to record his theater play and basically turn it into a movie. When the other actors heard what Mark and Linuel were talking about they all rushed to check out the camera.

“Can you teach me how to use it?” Linuel begged.

“Sure. You should prepare a skit first that we can record as a test,” Mark replied knowing that he would not be able to dive into his dungeon that day but still, moviemaking in this world had to start somewhere.

Without wasting any time, Linuel talked with the actors about which one scene in one of their many plays they wanted to “immortalize” and after a few minutes, everyone had chosen a skit. They had chosen something like a death scene of a lover much like the death scene in Romeo and Juliet and Mark guessed that a scene like that probably existed in all universes. Impressively, Linuel and the actors were ready to record after just ten minutes of practicing, and that proved the point that they were professional.

Mark told Linuel that he was not an expert on recording a movie or being a director so he would have to do it by doing some trial and error, but he did give some basic suggestions like where to put the camera to imitate the best perspective of the viewer whether it was the perspective of one of the other characters or the audience. He also mentioned to the director that he would need to make sure that there’s enough lighting so he would need light magic.

They did some test recording using a straightforward perspective and after twenty minutes, the recording was done. When everyone checked the video clip on the laptop, Linuel actually cried to see a scene in one of their plays as a video and the actors were almost the same.

After that, Linuel said that they would have to repeat the recording since he thought that another perspective was going to be better and that more lighting would be best so one of the actors who was also a mage would have to cast more mage light.

Linuel also complained that they could barely hear what the actors were saying and that they would need to shout so Mark provided a microphone and speaker to Linuel and made suggestions on how they could use it to increase the volume like putting the microphone on some sort of long stick and dangle it above the actors but making sure that it would not be captured by the camera.

Mark kept reminding Linuel that his suggestion was taken from what he’d seen in movies and that he didn’t have any experience in making a movie or even video clips. Linuel just shrugged it off and said that he would make it work even if took them decades, which made Mark laugh.

He needed to provide the director with a small gasoline generator and gallons of gasoline and taught him how to turn it on so they could recharge the camera, the laptop, the microphone, and the speakers.

After that Mark left them to their devices. He could hear Linuel saying to the actors that they would not open for the day and would try to record a whole play first. Probably due to the excitement of the newness of it all, everyone agreed to Linuel.

Mark spent the whole morning together with the circus theater group, so he returned to the RV to join the twins and Milena in eating lunch and to tell them that he didn’t leave for the day.
