Chapter 171

Chapter 171

Twilight arrived and the evening chill appeared together with Mark’s guests. Hamil and his family were the first ones and Mark was glad to see that the twins were excited to talk to Deo, Hamil’s son and the kid introduced his older brother, Toby, to the twins. The next ones to arrive were the elven sisters, Eilintraee, Solinae, and Monterra, and Mark happily welcomed them.

Nedertu brought Zenethor with him and Mark could see that the zoo leader was focused on the different food that everyone could see on the table. The acrobat brothers also arrived together with their family.

Mark was also surprised to see that Norunta the witch arrived with her apprentice. Apparently, they were invited by the elven sisters and Mark welcomed them. The actors arrived next together with their family. He thought that he would need to add more food, tables, and chairs but was surprised to see that upon reaching twenty people, nobody came anymore and Hamil mentioned that there was a lottery in the entire circus to which ones would attend the gathering tonight. He was a bit surprised at Hamil’s efficiency in coming up with the idea and executing it within a short period of time.

Dinner started and everyone appreciated the taste and variety of the food that Mark served his guests. He was happy to see that the twins were in the midst of the children and were happily chatting with them. He could hear the twins promising some of the kids that they would show them the toys that Mark gave them.

After dinner, Hamil invited everyone to Mark’s cart. He requested to Hamil to take charge. The children were sitting together in the front row, and they were silent, expectantly waiting for the movie to start.

At first, Mark thought of introducing the film but he decided to just start the movie. He decided to show one of his beloved animated films when he was growing up, The Last Unicorn. When he was a child, his father showed the movie to him saying that it was one of the animated films that he loved, and Mark fell in love with it too. It was the epitome of fantasy in the 1980s in his home world. It was one of the films that started the journey of his love affair with fantasy.

Some said that when they watched it when they were kids, it traumatized them, but Mark was focused on the wonders and magic of the film, and to this day, he still very much loves it.

Mark saw that the children were focused on the movie The Last Unicorn and he hoped that the twins share his liking for it. As usual, he was watching the audience more instead of the movie. He loved seeing their reaction to every scene. He remembered why he followed a lot of reaction video content creators on YouTube. Seeing every gasp, every smile, every shiver because of the scenes soothes his heart for some reason.

When the movie was nearing the end, Mark silently went outside to prepare more snacks for his friends. He prepared a lot of sweets like donuts, cookies, and cakes and some unhealthy snacks like potato chips and fries from different parts of his home world. He also prepared a lot of different types of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic for the kids.

While he was preparing, he contemplated the fact that instead of battle after battle that he was expecting when he transmigrated, he was living this wonderful life that allowed him to share food and movies with his newly found friends and family. Mark admitted to himself that right now, at this moment, he was happy.

Mark knew that the endless battles that he was expecting would be somewhere in his future since his main goal in this world was still gathering power and all road to tremendous power was filled with blood but at this moment in time, he wanted to enjoy the company of his friends peacefully.

Mark saw Hamil going outside of the cart and knew then that the movie ended. He then asked the caravan leader to invite everyone for a late-night party while they all talked about the movie.

When everyone was outside, Mark led the children to their designated table filled with delicious non-alcoholic drinks and different types of food while the adults enjoyed their alcohol.

“Mark, I love that movie. The unicorn was truly beautiful. Why is the unicorn in our caravan not as powerful or as wise? Are unicorns in your homeland as wise and as beautiful as the unicorn in that movie?” Sunetta asked Mark while they were eating the snacks that he prepared.

“I reckoned that our unicorns are the same as the ones in these lands. The show came from the imagination of one our esteemed authors and was animated by one of our homeland’s moviemakers.” Mark answered the witch’s apprentice.

“I hate that witch in that show. She used her power for evil. It’s expected that she would receive punishment for what she had done, and that punishment caused her life from one of her mighty captives.” Norunta the witch commented while enjoying the beers and salty potato chips.

Mark saw the elven sisters nodding at what the witch said.

“I like the music, especially the one at the beginning,” Solinae said.

Marl summoned a fully charged Bluetooth speaker and laptop and played the soundtrack from the movie The Last Unicorn.

Everyone stopped what they were doing when they heard the music floating in the air. They listened to the voice of the band “America” singing The Last Unicorn and when the last note ended, Mark lowered the volume but allowed the rest of the song from the soundtrack to play in the background.

“What is that contraption?” One of the actors asked.

“It’s called a speaker. It allows me to play music from my device loudly.”

“Can you sell that to me?”

“Unfortunately, my devices are not for sale since it would require the owner to charge them with power that is not available in these lands, for them to be able to use the devices.”

The actor sighed disappointingly but did not pursue the idea anymore.

Everyone kept eating and talking about the movie until the parents noticed that the children were beginning to get sleepy and some of them were already asleep in their chairs.

The caravan people said their goodbyes and Mark carried the twins inside the RV to sleep.
