Mark could see the destroyed houses in the Pine Creek village. Almost everything was destroyed or looked like it but weirdly, there were no fires and no corpses visible. Mark thought that maybe the wyverns ate the corpses that’s why he didn’t see any.
While they were looking at the village, one of the guards had reported movement among the trees and when they checked it out, it was the villagers who survived the wyvern attack.
Natasha talked to an old man who appeared to be the one representing the villagers.
“My name is Hubbard and I’m the village chief here. Thy wyverns attacked us four days ago and they stayed near the village not leaving. I’m guessing that the monsters are planning to stay here so they will have something to eat for the rest of the winter. We are glad that only two people died, and the wyverns were satisfied with the livestock.”
“We can see from here that the village is destroyed,” Ardeen commented.
“It looked bad but those are just superficial destruction that can easily be fixed.” The village chief said.
“Where are the wyverns?” Natasha asked directly, wanting to deal with the problem immediately.
“They are staying at a cave near here. The wyverns are big, almost as big as a young dragon. They could also spit venom-like liquid.”
Natasha and the mages frowned when they heard it and Mark asked what the problem was.
“Is something wrong?” Mark asked Natasha.
“The report we received was wrong. The Wyverns were not regular ones but mature ones since they were able to spit venom. This will be a harder fight than planned but I’m not too worried since the mages are here. I’m sure we can handle it.”
Natasha started planning the fight by talking to the guards and the mages.
Mark talked to the village chief since when they reached the place where the rest of the villagers were staying, he could see everyone, the men, women, and children looked frightened and hungry. Although it was winter, they didn’t look that cold since there was a lot of wood around in the forest and the villagers knew how to build a campfire that was not visible.
“How are your people doing so far? Is anybody sick, or hungry?” Mark asked the Hubbard, the old village chief.
“The situation here is not good. A couple of children are sick, and the food situation is not better. All our livestock were gone, and we started rationing our food. We are frightened since we know for a fact that we can’t hide from the wyverns since they can smell us from afar. They are content in consuming the rest of the livestock but once those are gone, they will be hunting us until all are gone. I’m glad that you arrived immediately.”

Mark could see that the Pine Creek village was a small village since there were roughly three hundred people here.
Natasha called Mark and gave the outline of their plan which was to lead the wyverns farther from the village to avoid further destruction. Some of the guards would act as bait and once they led the wyverns to the best place possible to kill them, they would start the mission and finish it as soon as possible.
Mark followed Natasha and the mages while some of the guards looked for the best place to battle the wyverns and after several minutes, the scouts returned informing the guard captain of the location.
Natasha requested Mark to hold off on helping them unless they really needed it, and he couldn’t help but agree.
When they arrived at the location where they would battle the monsters, Mark, Natasha, the mages, and the rest of the guards hid while those assigned to lead the wyverns to their location started their assignment.
After a few minutes, Mark could see the wyverns in the distance chasing the guards and they were huge. If this were the first time he would face a battle like this, Mark would have been scared by the size and ferociousness of the wyverns, but he was a veteran of hundreds of battles in his dungeon.
When the group reached the center of the place, the mages cast Tasha’s Mind Whip on the wyverns. Mark knew what spell they used since for some reason, the two mages spoke the spell loudly after chanting for a bit and he wondered if it was normal to do it like that.
“If it is like that, wouldn’t the enemy be able to counter the spell?” Mark thought.
The wyvern faltered for a bit when they were hit by the spell. Natasha and the rest of the guard took that moment to attack the wyverns, but Mark got worried when he saw that some of the attacks of the guard were ineffective.
The two mages uttered some incantations again then loudly shouted the name of the spell which was Entangle and Mark thought that maybe he was able to understand the name of the spell because of Comprehend Language.
Vines sprouted from the ground and tried to entangle the wyverns, but they were too large and powerful. Lossa and Ardeen tried to trap the monsters again by casting the spell Web and this time it managed to hold the two large monsters momentarily.
One of the guards was hit and went down. Mark saw that the guard who was thrown didn’t get up, so he used Telekinesis to drag the down guards to where he was watching. He cast a Good Berry spell and fed the berries to the guard. Mark was glad that the berries turned into liquid once they entered the mouth so the receiver wouldn’t choke.
Once the berries went into the guard’s stomach, the wound healed visibly faster than normal so Mark turned his attention back to the battle.
He saw that two other guards were hit so he dragged them to him as well and fed them berries.
When Mark saw that the Web spells were beginning to falter, he joined the battle surreptitiously by holding the monster in place using his Telekinesis.
Natasha and the mages saw that the wyverns stopped for some reason, so they ferociously attacked the wyverns. The guard captain attacked one of the wyvern's necks with her sword and Mark saw that Natasha was powerful enough to cut the wyvern.
