Chapter 138

Chapter 138

The next day, after the caravan people broke their fast, the circus caravan continued traveling to the next village. According to Hamil the name of the village was Creekwood, and they would arrive there tomorrow afternoon. While Mark’s caravan was moving, driven by Nedertu, Solinae and Monterra arrived and asked to speak with him.

He invited the two elven sisters to join him on the coach seat since it was big enough to fit all of them.

“I heard that you’ve shown a new movie to Hamil and his family. We wish that you’ve invited us.” Monterra said while smiling.

Mark couldn’t help but be captivated by the elven woman's smile. He took a hold of himself and said to the elven woman that he would show the movie again tonight and if they wanted to join, they could.

After securing an invite from Mark, the two sisters went back to their own caravan saying that they needed to help Eilintraee with driving their caravan.

Mark asked Nedertu to teach him the basics of driving the caravan so he could drive it if the coach was busy. At lunchtime, Mark and Nedertu ate a bento each consisting of rice and Karaage with a special sauce and for drinks, the two drank fruit juice. Mark drove the caravan after he ate so Nedertu could take his turn eating his bento. After lunch, Nedertu tried to give the deposit coins that Mark gave him saying that since the food was so great, he would only need to pay him half of the promised fee, but Mark declined to accept the coins saying that he would follow their verbal contract to the letter.

When twilight came, the circus caravan stopped beside a river which made it convenient for the caravan people to store water. Mark busied himself by storing all his items in the caravan to his inventory then set up around five couches in front of the wide-screen television that could seat up to four people. It was easy for him to just replicate the couches. Then he set up a table with forty bags of popcorn and forty cans of soda just beside the caravan door. Hamil and his family, the elven sisters, Linuel and his actors, and Nedertu simultaneously arrived. Overall, there were twenty people including him.

Mark first taught the people how to open the can of soda then gave one can and one bag of popcorn each to everybody then asked them to sit on the couches he prepared. Mark reminded everyone to take a toilet break before the movie started but also told everyone that he would stop the show about halfway for a toilet break. When everyone was ready, he dimmed the lights and started the movie, The Princess Bride. Halfway through the movie, Mark paused the show and asked everyone to take a toilet break and if they wanted some more soda and popcorn, there were some prepared on the table outside. After about ten minutes, Mark started the movie again.

The show ended with vigorous clapping from the audience. Mark could hear the actors of the caravan talking about how great the film was and how inspired they were. Hamil then went to Mark and said to him that the elven sisters told him that they’d seen another film and that he would like to see it as well. Mark promised Hamil he would show that next time since he needed to recharge the television. Even though Mark had thousands upon thousands of movies, television shows, and animes, he would like to take the cultural invasion slow.

After the movie session, everyone thanked Mark, but he announced that the fee was ten silvers each. The circus people were flabbergasted then he laughed and told everyone that it was a joke.

Every movie session, he was mightily glad that the Comprehend Language spell worked on the television. He did add four points to the spell bringing it up to level five which meant that the spell would last 12 hours. Now his total skill points went down to sixty-five.

Mark easily cleaned up his caravan using telekinesis when the people left. He then brought back his furniture and arranged them. He then slept on his comfortable and soft futon smiling. He was happy about sharing his love for movies and shows with his new friends although calling the circus people his friends was too early, he knew that eventually he would call some of them his close friends.

The next day, the caravan started moving early, and by lunchtime, they arrived in Creekwood. The caravan was greeted by a horde of children and young people and Mark could see the excitement on the villager’s face. Hamil talked to the village leader and after a few minutes, led the circus caravan to a clearing. The circus people got busy arranging their caravans and building the temporary theater.

Lorendo the magician did his job of loudly announcing to the villagers what the circus was offering in terms of entertainment. The villagers were excitedly listening to him.

Mark went to Hamil’s caravan bringing a replicated copy of the brick game console that had the Tetris game with him since he promised the caravan leader that he would lend him one although, he called in lending, he had no intention of getting it back from Hamil. When he arrived at Hamil’s caravan, Mark saw that the leader was busy arranging the circus, so he decided to do the lending later when Hamil was not so busy. Mark went to the village inn to check what food they would offer and unsurprisingly, it was the same as what the Runford village inn offered.

Mark went and looked for Nedertu because he felt that it was his responsibility to make sure that his caravan coach was well-fed. When he saw the cat man, he invited him to the inn for a repast and the Nedertu gladly joined him. They ordered a couple of beef stews and bread and mugs of ale. Mark enjoyed the food, and he was satisfied with the taste. After eating, Mark went back to his caravan to play some games on his PlayStation 5 on his television.

While Mark was playing, he was suddenly hit with homesickness. He missed his friends. He missed the internet. He missed his world. After a few minutes of melancholia, Mark picked himself up and continued playing, waiting for the time that Hamil was not busy so he could talk to him about what his role would be on the circus caravan.
