Chapter 291

Chapter 291

The basement floor was dark, and Mark was glad that he had the Mage Light spell which was powerful enough to brighten up the whole place. He summoned the two Bush Golems for company then he studied the floor. It was a literal dungeon with jail cells.

The front lobby of the jail cells was one large floor with a table and a chair for who he assumed was the warden and sitting on the chair was a huge, bloated zombie monster. Mark identified the corpse which wasn’t moving, and it stated that it was a “warden zombie.” It should be an elite monster based on its uniqueness and size.

The first jail cells also contained a non-moving corpse and when Mark identified it, it said that it was a “feral zombie prisoner.” There were nine other cells, so he assumed all of them contained one monster. That meant he would be dealing with eleven monsters.

The fat warden zombie started moving and Mark could hear noises from the jail cells which meant that the zombie prisoners began moving as well. He cast his Floating Sunflower spell as well as his defense spells like Bark Skin and Space Shield and commanded the Bush Dragon to stay where they were. He just summoned them for company anyway.

Without waiting anymore, Mark cast Glacial Void at the warden zombie and even though it didn’t freeze, it was slowed down. The other monsters from the jail cells arrived running swiftly towards him so he cast Void Tsunami to push the monsters back then cast Glacial Void and it was successful in freezing the monsters.

Mark then cast Void Chain Lighting and Void Hurricane and that destroyed the monsters. The overwhelming power of his spells, which could destroy the monsters without any problems, proved that he was powerful enough without needing to rely on his summons. He kept the dropped loot from the monsters and investigated the whole floor to check if he missed anything.

To his surprise, Mark missed a couple of feral zombie prisoners who were the ones hiding in the last two jail cells. The two zombies tried to tackle him and were successful in reaching him, but his Bark Skin and Space Shield prevented their claws from successfully penetrating his defense. The attack caused Mark to shout, and he used his teleport spell to move his body away from the zombies.

Mark then cast Void Chain Lighting and Void Lightning to destroy the two zombies. The Bush Golem were waiting in the jail lobby. The attack frustrated Mark and knew that his being such a coward in these types of situations was not a joking matter anymore but could be a serious liability.

He dismissed the golems and made a vow to battle the undead using his spells and not rely on the company of summons to give himself courage. Mark would use the twenty-eighth floor up to the thirtieth to get used to battling the undead so he could strengthen his will on facing undead-type monsters.

After dealing with the dungeon basement floor Mark went back upstairs so he could deal with the rest of the first floor of the castle. When he arrived at the first floor, he saw that the chandelier was on again and the paintings were restored. Mark just shrugged, trying to be brave, but he did not dismiss his Mage Light since based on his experience with Earth’s media, the light would turn off and painting ghosts would attack again, which did happen.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

The chandelier turned off but due to Mark not dismissing his mage light, the room was still bright. Painting ghosts crawled out from the paintings and Mark used his Glacial Void to destroy them again. This time he was surprised that no loot dropped from the monsters. The fact that the monsters were destroyed by a single spell meant that the painting ghosts were not real monsters but could be some sort of illusion.

Mark turned to the left side of the main hall and when he entered the huge room, he saw that it was a ballroom. It was filled with what looked like people who were frozen while dancing but when he entered the people began moving and music floated from the orchestra who were seated on a stage by the end of the ballroom.

Ten couples were dancing and there were five musicians on stage. Mark didn’t wait and cast Floating Sunflower then summoned Void Hurricane and hurled it in the middle of the dancers. He briefly identified one of the dancers and it said that it was called a “dancing ghost.”

Mark sighed at the naming sense of the dungeon or the system then while the hurricane caused by the energy from the void was swirling amid the shrieking ghosts, he cast Void Storm for added damage and then cast Void Lightning at the musicians.

The three spells were enough to destroy all of the monsters and one of the loots was purple. He identified the items immediately since he was curious since it was the first legendary item that he had gotten in a long while.

The item was called a Rod of Healing. It was a legendary purple item, but it was a simple one. It would add thirty to intelligence, twenty to wisdom, and had twenty durability. It skill was simply called Healing and would heal the user or the user’s allies for fifty HP and would earn one charge per hour.

Mark remembered that most of the items that had skills would earn a charge every ten minutes, but this one needed one hour. The HP that it could heal was large, but he wondered why the recharge time increased.

Regardless, it’s a good item that he would lend to Nedertu so the circus people who would tackle the Culano dungeon would have an item that would make them safe.

Mark checked the time, and it was already two in the afternoon, so he decided to stop the dungeon dive for the day and continue the next day. He did see that he leveled up, but he would total everything, the loot, and the level up once he completed the twenty-eighth floor of the dungeon.

He went to his villa on the eleventh floor, took a shower, and changed his clothes then he went to the first floor to store the unidentified items on the table there.

When Mark arrived at his RV, it was empty. The twins should be playing with their friends with Milena looking after them. Nedertu should be about the circus helping some of the folks since he mentioned that he and his friends would tackle the Culano dungeon tomorrow.

Mark went outside the RV to join in on the circus fun. He was planning to call Milena and the twins so they could open the stall, but he would sell a different product this time. Maybe donuts. Outside, he saw Hamil, Zenethor, and Lorendo talking to a group of people. He recognized the two old men with them who were the leader or guild master of the adventurers, and the other one was the mayor or chief of the village. The others should be the two leader’s cronies.

Mark wondered what they were doing outside his RV then Hamil and the group of people went to him and introduced him to the two most important people in the village of Culano.
