Chapter 209

Chapter 209

Since Mark didn’t know anything about the food of this world, he asked Natasha to order food for them. He was not worried that she would order something that he and the kids would have a hard time eating since she knew them very well.

After Natasha ordered food from the waiter they continued talking about their plans for the day.

“First we shouldn’t eat until we’re full. Remember boys, we’re here to find the most delicious food so after this lunch, we will walk around, look for things to see, maybe find some shops where we can buy things and then after an hour or so, find a new place where we can find new food.”

The twins cheered their agreement and talked to each other about things that Mark and Natasha sometimes find incomprehensible so without any choice, they talked to each other.

“How are their studies?”

“They’re learning a lot from their new teacher. Soon, I would have to find a mage who could teach them the basics of magic. It would be great if that teacher is already part of our caravan so he or she can travel with us.”

“Are you not going to ask your elven friends? They’re part of the circus caravan aren’t they?”

“I will ask them but I’m hesitating. They have specific roles in the circus, and I would prefer to have someone who specializes in tutoring the kids only but if I can’t find anyone, I would probably talk to them. We still have time anyways so no hurry.”

Their food arrived and everything looked good. There was a plate of meat slices covered in gray sauce, some sort of vegetable salad, a chicken or some type of bird dish that was roasted, and some sort of mashed root vegetable like mashed potato. Basically, every food that the waiter delivered looked similar to some of the food from Earth, but Mark was sure that the difference was the spices that were used and when they started eating, he was correct.

He then asked the twins if they found the food something special and if should he order them to keep a copy in his inventory,

“No Mark. Our food tastes much better,” Isaac replied.

Natasha laughed and made a suggestion.

“I think that you don’t have to make a copy of any local food since they’re already available everywhere. The best thing that you can do is to experience them and not be exclusive. When you visit a place, you should experience the local cuisine and rely on your food during travels only.”

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

“You’re correct. I don’t know where I got this idea that since I have food from my homeland, I should have local food as well. Well, we can still continue to experience the local cuisine today.”

After eating lunch, the group spent the rest of the day touring different locations and then eating again, then shopping for some time then eating. The last establishment that Natasha led them was special and costly since it was a place that would only serve dishes made from magic beasts.

When the food was served, it was the same as the food from the other restaurant, with spices wise but the difference was the meat. Natasha told him that the main benefit of eating magic beast was the Mana in a mage’s body would recover faster and if they started eating it from young, the Mana would be larger than normal.

But all of those could be alleviated by leveling up one’s profession or by items so eating magic beasts was not truly prioritized and was only valued by the truly rich.

It was very late when they finished their adventure, and the twins were truly exhausted. Natasha went home with them and when they arrived in the RV, Mark saw Nedertu was waiting for them, but the cat man excused himself immediately and went somewhere else and told Mark that he had already eaten dinner. He washed the twins and put them in their bunk beds to sleep not surprisingly, was immediately asleep.

Mark and Natasha took a shower together and spent the night in the master bedroom.

The next day was the planned day for Hamil to show Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back to everyone, so he planned to continue dungeon diving. He wanted to reach level 90 to get the next set of skills and then he would spend all his skill points. He wanted to know if there would be changes to a spell or skill if its level was high enough.

Mark prepared breakfast for everyone then Natasha woke up first. After eating hastily, she said her goodbyes saying she needed to get to the council for a meeting but would join the guards in watching the movie just to show her face and support. He told Natasha that he was planning to do something else while everyone was watching the movie and when she asked for details since she was hoping he would join her, he told Natasha that he needed to do something on his dimension.

When Natasha heard that, she paused for a bit and then said she understood. People’s reaction to learning that he had his own dimension was peculiar to Mark so he should probably ask Lossa about that one of these days.

Nedertu and Rendira arrived so Mark woke up the twins so they could all eat breakfast together. After that, Mark left for his lessons with the Elven Sisters.

The sisters already started teaching Mark how to write and they declared that after about three or four more lessons, he would be proficient enough to start learning the basics of magic. That excited Mark since he really wanted to know how the magic of this world works.

From his observations, the magic was similar to the dungeon and dragon systems where a spell needed to be memorized and then when it was cast, it would disappear from the mind and needed to be learned again although Mana was still a resource which he finds peculiar.

He loved playing Dungeons and Dragons and remembered starting with Neverwinter Nights 2 on his computer when he was younger. He was enamored with the system so he couldn’t wait to check how it would compare with the actual magic of this world.

Mark also wondered if there would be a conflict with his own system, but he didn’t worry about that since he would learn soon.
