Chapter 278

Chapter 278

Mark was drunk when he returned to his RV and that meant that he drank an ungodly amount of alcohol since it would take that much to get him drunk because of his stats. Unfortunately, during the last part of the drinking session, he was the one providing the alcohol since the circus ran out but it did manage to make everyone drunk which was an almost impossible mission according to Nedertu due to the presence of the dwarves who had an amazing alcohol tolerance.

Mark could not remember the last time he was this drunk and Nedertu had to help him to his bed after a bad vomiting session then he slept like a log.

He woke up at around nine in the morning when he checked the time and when went outside his bedroom, the twins were in the midst of their lessons with Rendira while Milena was reading her book. Nedertu was nowhere to be seen.

“Do you want some breakfast?” Milena asked Mark when she saw him.

Mark shook his head and went outside the RV. He felt miserable so the first thing that he wanted to do was to cast the Dryad’s Circle spell to cure himself of his hangover. The spell brought massive relief to him and then he suddenly smelled a very awful smell and found out that it was coming from himself so he immediately went to their bathroom and took a shower.

When he came out, Mark saw that Milena was smiling at him.

“Yeah I looked awful but at least my spell cured me. So did anything happen?” Mark asked their cook.

“Didn’t you feel it last night? The twins joined you in your bed. They had a nightmare.”

“Even with the smell I’m emitting?! I told them that the movies were not for kids. At least now they knew why. Is the Harry Potter film festival still on even with everyone drunk?” Mark asked.

“It’s still on since I saw people cleaning the tent. Do you think that the drinking session last night would affect our day? Apparently, you still don’t know the circus. There was a time when everyone was drunk for a whole week and it was business as usual every day,” Milena said then she laughed.

The twin's lesson for the day ended after about an hour then Rendira said her goodbyes and went home to cook lunch for her family.

“Mark, we’ll play outside for a bit before lunch is that okay?” Isaac asked.

“Wait! We need to talk. Milena told me you went to my bed because you both had a nightmare. Did you learn your lesson of following the rules? The rules are there for a reason.”

The twins looked at Milena accusingly but the woman just smiled.

“Yeah we learned our lesson,” the twins mumbled.

Mark then gave his consent for the twins to go out and play and they both ran immediately as if scared they would be lectured again. He followed them then he saw Hamil coming to his RV so he met the caravan leader.

“Mark, the seats are ready. Let’s go ahead and try it out.”

He nodded and followed the caravan leader to where the void dragon was resting. When they arrived there, Mark saw a beautifully crafted seat. It consisted of a row of four-person seats made of some sort of light wood. He counted and there were seven seats in the row in total meaning it could seat up to a total of twenty-eight people. The four-person seat was divided by armrests that could serve as handles and there were leather straps on each seat that could be used to strap each person that was seated.

The seats were constructed wide enough that people who were seated would not feel cramped.

“The wood that we used was a light one that was aged by one of the elven sisters’ magic and the leather we used for the straps was made from a high-level magic beast so it would be very strong and durable. Not only that, the leather strap would also be comfortable. We also plan to add some cushions to the seats at a later time but for now, we wanted to test it out,” Hamil told Mark.

Mark verbally commanded the dragon loudly so everyone could hear to not hurt anyone without command and to only follow his and Hamil’s commands. The caravan leader’s face suddenly was filled with a huge smile when he and everyone else for that matter heard Mark’s command to the dragon.

Hamil then asked the halflings and the dwarves to strap in the seat to the dragon and the dragon just sat there looking at them dumbly while blinking. Suddenly the circus kids arrived from somewhere and surrounded the void dragon’s face.

Mark saw the twins hugging the huge face of the dragon while yelling “You’re so cute Yoda!.”

Once the seat was strapped in, the mighty void dragon now looked like an amusement park ride. The halfling then took a mobile stairs somewhere and put it on the dragon's side so it would be convenient for people to climb the dragon.

Mark could hear the elven sisters complaining that the dragon’s dignity was being trampled for the sake of coins and he could also hear them repeatedly saying “It’s a golem, not a dragon.” Mark laughed when he heard the sisters chanting the phrase repeatedly and when the sisters heard him, they stopped and stared at him frostily. He ignored the sisters’ stare and climbed the dragon with Hamil using the makeshift stairs. The sisters followed them and then more people until all the seats were occupied.

The circus children were yelling that they wanted to join but somebody scolded them and told them that it was a test run to check the safety of the seats.

Several people helped each one of the seated persons to be strapped in tightly to prevent accidents. Mark told Hamil that he should command the dragon so that the caravan leader could set the maximum height and speed to which the dragon would fly.

Basically, the first ride was not only to check the durability and safety of the seats but to also set up a maximum height and speed for the dragon.

Hamil commanded the dragon to fly higher and higher until he was satisfied with the flight height and then told the dragon to remember the flight height and surprisingly, the void dragon nodded and growled in understanding. The caravan leader commanded the dragon to fly in a circuitous route surrounding the circus and to also make sure to dip low and climb high in intervals to mimic a roller coaster. It took several turns until Hamil was satisfied with the dragon’s route. It was making Mark uncomfortable since it was beginning to feel like a roller coaster except for the speed.

The caravan leader commanded the dragon to remember the route and again, the void dragon nodded and growled in understanding. The last part was to increase the speed to a level that could be handled by people and Hamil kept commanding the void dragon to increase its speed which it did step by step until everyone was screaming then Hamil shouted at the dragon to remember the maximum speed but to always start slow then reached the maximum speed only after several turns.

The last instruction that the caravan leader gave the dragon was to make a huge loop once it reached its maximum speed and then it did. Everyone was screaming and Mark was tempted to cast his spell Flight so if the strap broke, he would survive.

Mark was impressed by how the caravan leader calibrated the dragon’s flight since the duration and speed were typical of a high-speed roller coaster.
