At around five in the afternoon, Mark received a guest. Hamil knocked on his door wanting to talk to him.
“I’m planning to have the viewing of the new movie that my kids are talking about tomorrow afternoon. They wouldn’t stop yapping about how good the movie was so I’m beginning to get excited as well.”
“Okay, I’ll give you the laptop that contains the Star Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI. You decide the showing schedule. I will not join you since I’ve seen it recently, but the twins will want to watch it again. Please invite only our families and no outsiders for money this time for the first viewing.”
“I know. We don’t have the time to show the new movies to customers anyway since we will leave in a month.”
Mark replicated a laptop and put in just the three Star Wars movies inside it and gave it to Hamil after casting Comprehend Spell on it.
After Hamil left, Mark decided to visit Natasha since it was still early so he walked outside the compound and hired a carriage that would take him to the guard station where Natasha was stationed. He arrived after about thirty minutes and was glad to see that Natasha was already waiting for him.
“How did you know I was coming?”
“We received a message from a patrol guard who saw you.”
“Oh, you have long-distance instant communication?”
Natasha laughed.
“No, the patrol guard that saw you was a level-one mage, and he summoned a familiar who brought the message to us.”
“Why did he bother?”
“Your prestige is very high here since the guards that were with us kept saying that without you, all of us would have died which was true and the fact that you fed them food fit for nobles and let them watch shows that fit for high-level mages brought respect that even council members do not enjoy from the guards. They also heard that the circus caravan leader would show the movies to the circus members and most of the guards were hoping for an invite.”
Natasha led Mark to her office and after briefly kissing, they sat down. He gave her a chocolate cake, her favorite, and a liter of soda, which she promptly cut and served for their snacks.
“How did they know about the showing of the film?”
“We have ways to know some of what is happening in this city,” Natasha laughed.
“Did you know that chocolate cakes and soda are the devil’s food, and will ladies go fat,” Mark joked.
Stolen novel; please report.
“Oh please, I seldom eat them, and I have to eat a ton of food since I do a lot of exercise with my sword practice every day.”
“You practice sword every day?”
“Of course. I wouldn’t want to go rusty especially since we're doing missions once in a while for the city just like we recently did.”
“I hope they don’t assign you something like the one we recently did!”
“That was something that some of the now defunct council members did who wanted to capitalize on your power and our relationship.”
“Defunct?”
“Yeah. The council was afraid that you would find trouble with them since those ancient beholders were something that high-level mages should have dealt with. The fact that they had a clue that the mission was incredibly dangerous and high-level and assigned it to me, my family was furious as well, so the council members involved were forced to resign.”
“Will it be dangerous to you like someone finding trouble or trying to assassinate you or something?”
Natasha laughed.
“Nothing like that. The council knows that you will only be staying here for the winter so more than likely they will be reinstated once you’re gone, and my family received a huge compensation from those involved so everyone was happy.”
“I’m glad. That means I don’t have to curse them and their entire family up until the fourth generation.” Natasha looked at him, horrified.
Mark laughed and Natasha threw a pillow at him. While they were mock fighting somebody knocked on the door.
Natasha opened it and Lossa entered.
“Hi Lord Mark, I heard you’re here.”
“Hi, Lossa. Told you to stop calling me Lord.”
“It’s a habit from the mage academy. Anyone who is higher circle than you should be called a lord.”
Natasha served Lossa a plate of cake and a glass of soda.
“I missed your food, Lord Mark. I heard that the circus will be showing the Star Wars movies?”
“Yes but only to our people. Why do you want to watch it again?”
“Well, a couple of my friends couldn’t believe my stories, so I hoped to get three seats from you. Is that okay?”
“Sure, I’ll tell Hamil. What about you Natasha, how many seats should I ask from Hamil for your guards?”
“I don’t know. How many can he give us?”
“Around fifty or sixty? That should be fine.”
“Okay give us sixty seats.”
“I’ll ask him once I get back. Could a guard follow us so I can give him the details like the time, and he can relay it to you?”
“I’ll go,” Lossa offered.
Mark, Natasha, and Lossa talked some more while eating cake and at around eight in the evening, he said his goodbyes and went to the circus compound to look for Hamil together with Lossa.
“Are the twins okay Mark?”
“Where’s the Lord?” Mark jokingly asked.
“I don’t know. If it’s you, it does seem a little weird.” Mark and Lossa laughed.
“The twins are fine. Nedertu is with them, and they have food in the storage box in the RV as you well know, and they can be heated in no time.”
When they arrived at the circus compound, they headed directly to Hamil’s cart.
“What can I do for you boys?” Hamil asked when he saw Mark and Lossa.
“Can you reserve about sixty-three seats for Natasha and her guards and for Lossa and a couple of his friends for the showing tomorrow?”
“Sure, that’s no problem. We can always add more seats in the theater anyway since we're not catering to nobles.”
“Thanks. What time is the viewing tomorrow?”
“At around five in the afternoon since many of the audience will be kids.”
Mark thanked Hamil and then he and Lossa went to his RV so they could eat dinner. When he arrived there, the twins were playing Tetris on their console and Nedertu had this worried look on his face.
“What happened?” Mark asked his coach.
“The kids wouldn’t eat. They said that they wanted to wait for you.”
When the kids heard Mark come in, they stopped what they were doing and hugged him.
“You didn’t have to wait for me.”
“The food you prepare is more delicious,” Aaron said which made Lossa and Nedertu laugh.
