Chapter 156

Chapter 156

Mark and Natasha saw that the seats were already filled, and most people were holding snacks and drinks. He was happy to see that the circus caravan people and their families and kids were there, occupying the second section. Although the seats for the caravan people were not as grand as the paying customers’ seats, he saw that it was comfortable enough.

Mark and the guard captain sat beside the elven sisters. After a few minutes, Hamil went to the front to make an announcement.

“In five minutes, the show will start. We would dim the lights so be mindful and after the show for children, there will be a fifteen-minute break for you to do your business and the second show will start. If you need assistance during the show, our people in uniform will be by the side so you can approach any one of them but please do it silently. Okay, it’s time. Without further ado, please dim the lights!”

The lights on the makeshift theater were dim but not too dark to not be able to see anything. The huge speakers were arranged to be at the four corners of the hall to make sure that the show would have a surround sound system. Hamil started the movie, and everyone was focused on the projector screen.

Mark was actually watching the people and not the movie. He loved seeing the wide-eyed reactions of the people in every scene. The first movie that was shown was Snow White since the first show was supposed to be for the children and after that, it would be the parent’s responsibility if they would allow their children to continue watching the rest of the films.

Hamil told Mark that he would show Snow White first, then The Importance of Being Ernest next, and then the last one would be The Princess Bride. Mark asked why the caravan leader arranged the movie to be shown simultaneously, and the caravan leader reiterated that this only happened because it was supposed to be a test as well as a grand opening.

After Snow White ended, Hamil turned on the lights and asked everyone to take a fifteen-minute break. He reminded everyone that there were snacks and drinks at the front of the theater. Mark asked Natasha if she would like to have some snacks after they came back from their break and the blonde captain said that she would like to have something to munch on.

Mark gave her a bucket of popcorn and a large soda drink and waited for the next show to start. He could hear the people talking excitedly about the animated film and was mostly surprised that there was magic that would allow picture books to move. Of course, Mark made sure to cast the Comprehend Language spell before the show and he was glad that the spell could now last for a very long time.

Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings.

That was the main reason that he could only show the movies and television shows in his presence since he would need to cast the Comprehend Language spell for people to be able to understand them. He was really surprised at the complexity of the spell since once the spell was cast, the language in the movies was spoken as if it was the local language of the listener and not something dubbed so whatever magic the storytelling conveyed, it was conveyed perfectly.

Hamil went to the front again to make some more announcements.

“The next show is a funny love story that will be loved by women, so I hope you enjoy it fully.”

The movie, The Importance of Being Ernest was shown next. Mark kept on watching Natasha, and the rest of the moviegoer’s reaction. While he did that, he thought of which movie would he allow to be shown next and remembered that the next animated movie from Disney was Pinocchio so the next film for kids was decided. For the love story slash adventure, he decided to show the 1991 movie by Kevin Costner, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. For the fantasy film, he decided on the 1996 film, Dragon Heart by Dennis Quaid.

Of course, Mark would only show the next set of movies after a month of the current movies running.

After the second movie was done, the audience took their break and went back as fast as they could and excitedly talked about the film. Mark really enjoyed listening to their talks and wondered why he was enjoying it so much.

“So how do you find the movie? Are you enjoying them?” Mark asked Natasha.

“Yes! Oh my, the films are so beautiful. I can watch them thousands of times and would never get tired of them.”

“Well, you don’t need to watch them thousands of times since I’ve decided on the next set of shows and since you’re with me, you will have the privilege of watching them first.”

Mark saw how excited Natasha became but before she could reply, the lights dimmed again for the third movie, The Princess Bride.

While they were watching, Mark wondered what reaction the audience would have on the most recent films from his home world. Those CGI-filled, superhero films would probably shock them but then again, high-level wizards already saw battles from crystal records that were filled with awe-inspiring spells. Still, those were only seen by wizards, and normal people even though they’re very rich wouldn’t be able to see those.

Mark could see that all the people in the audience enjoyed the last movie very much. After the movie ended, Hamil announced that there would be a showing of the films every day, but it would be one film each day and it would alternate every day.

The people were actually not leaving. They stayed and talked to each other excitedly about the movies they’d seen. The nobles were truly amazed, and Mark could hear them vowing that they would watch the films again.

Mark and Natasha went to Hamil.

“I’ve decided on the next set of three films that I would like to show but it would only be after a month from today. Of course, I would like to invite some of the caravan people for advance viewing in my caravan so they can decide if the next set of movies will be fine, is that okay?”

“Of course! I’m looking forward to seeing those films.” Mark could see that Hamil was excited to hear about the brand-new movies that they would be able to see but he knew that the caravan leader was mostly excited about how much gold he was earning.
