Chapter 180

Chapter 180

Night came and the temperature plummeted even though there was no more blizzard. The surrounding area was covered in snow. Mark cast his Floating Sunflower skill for MP generation then replicated three RVs. He prepared the soldier’s food and made sure that each one was plenty enough to re-energize the guards. Each bento box consisted of plenty of meat, grilled pork, roasted chicken and beef brisket, mashed potato, bread, dessert, and fruits. He also prepared pots of hot coffee for the soldiers to consume.

Once Mark was done preparing the soldiers’ food, he called Natasha and told someone to get the food from the main RV. He then prepared their own food. He asked the twins what they would like to eat, and they requested fried chicken again, so he prepared lots of it and a lot of pork barbecue and beef brisket as well, and white rice. For drinks, he prepared coffee, soda, and water.

Natasha arrived while Mark, the twins, and the mages were eating and joined them. While they were eating, the twins asked if they were going to watch something tonight and he told the kids that unfortunately, they would need to rest early since they would need to continue their travel the next day. He then told the twins that they could continue assembling the Millennium Falcon and Death Star Lego set for about an hour before sleeping and that cheered them up.

“Mark, can you give me some chocolate cake? I miss its taste.” Natasha asked out of the blue.

Feeling whimsical, Mark replicated a whole chocolate gateau cake, and everyone stared wide-eyed at the beautiful cake.

“Everyone can have a slice!” Mark announced.

The kids and the mages clapped, and Mark asked Natasha to slice the cake. He could see that the guard captain kept hesitating about where and how to start slicing the cake.

“Do you want me to slice it?” Mark asked.

“No, I’ll do it. It’s just that, it’s so pretty.”

Mark laughed and took the knife from Natasha. He then sliced the cake and gave everyone a slice. After eating their dessert, everyone prepared for bed.

The next day, the group continued their journey after breakfast. Before lunch, they arrived at a small village. Although they could see some activities, they could see that some of the houses were empty. An old man met with Natasha, and they talked briefly. After that, the guard captain told everyone that they would not be staying and would move on. While they were moving through the small village, the villagers looked at Mark’s floating disc with awe and the mages informed him that rural villages rarely see actual wizards.

The twins waved their hands to the village children who were looking at them with envy and Mark could actually see that the boys had smug expressions on their faces.

“Hey! Be nice.” Mark told the twins which just made them giggle and they continued waving at the villagers with their smug little faces. Ardeen and Lossa laughed when they saw that.

During lunchtime, the kids ate some burgers and the mages some pizza that Mark conjured, and the soldiers were looking at them with envious eyes. Hence, Mark just replicated a lot of pizza boxes and distributed them to the guards which made Natasha sigh.

Late in the afternoon, their scouts encountered a huge group of kobolds. Natasha was getting angry about the delay so Mark said that he would handle the monsters. He cast his Fly spell and flew towards the kobolds which surprised everyone.

When he neared the monsters, Mark cast Glacial Void, Void Storm, and Void Chain Lightning which promptly killed all the monsters then he flew back to the group.

“They’re all dead. We can continue traveling.” Mark reported to Natasha. The twins clapped and asked Mark to teach them how to fly.

“When you’re big enough, I’ll hire someone to teach you magic.” The twins hugged Mark and thanked him.

When the group arrived where the kobolds died, the soldiers harvested the Mana stones from their bodies, and they continued on their way.

Twilight came and Mark’s group arrived at a campsite that was already filled with travelers. They learned that the travelers were merchants on their way to the city of Argent. Natasha asked them some vague questions but apparently, they came from a different route to where they were going.

The merchants were carrying salt and sea products from some northern city, and they didn’t usually travel in winter, but the merchant’s family head just died, and they needed the funds, so they were forced to do business during the winter.

The merchants were prepared to travel in winter though. Their wagons were well-covered, and they were wearing heavy clothing.

Mark was interested in hearing the merchant’s stories, but he needed to prepare so he summoned the RVs which promptly elicited gasps from the members of the merchant travelers.

Mark led the twins inside the RV, and he prepared everyone’s dinner. While the twins were reading their books on the sofa and the twins were playing with their Lego sets, Natasha arrived and asked Mark if she could invite the leaders of the merchants to dinner with them. She also informed Mark that they were nobles and one of their members was also a second circle mage just like Ardeen and Lossa. He agreed and continued preparing the soldiers’ meals.

Mark prepared some dinner for them as well and since they would have guests, he prepared some special meals like whole roasted chicken, beef briskets, pork stew, roasted ducks, vegetable salads, bread, and white rice. He also prepared some chocolate cakes for dessert. For drinks, he prepared pitchers of beer, bottles of wine, sodas for the children, and water.

Mark called some of the soldiers to take their dinner and drinks and they happily gathered the bento boxes then he asked one of them to inform Natasha that dinner was ready.

Natasha came in after a few minutes together with four people. One middle-aged man wearing thick fur with a thick blonde beard, an older dark-haired elegant lady, and a beautiful young woman with dark hair as well which Mark assumed was the middle-aged man and the elegant lady’s daughter and a handsome man in his late twenties wearing a mage’s robe just like what Ardeen and Lossa wore. He saw that the mage looked similar to the young lady enough to be mistaken for his brother or maybe he was her brother or something.
