Chapter 999: Know yourself and know your enemy

“Do you have a significant advantage?”

Noland Lee used “Mind View” to locate the Shadow Deathers who were secretly observing him.

He heard a part of their conversation and used Deconstruction to obtain their panel and memory fragments.

The Shadow Deathers, situated in the Dark Zone, also mastered detection spells adapted to the environment.

If Noland Lee didn’t have Mental Magic at his disposal, he estimated it would have been very difficult to locate them.

In that sense, the Shadow Deathers’ claim “We have a significant advantage” was indeed accurate.

...

But what they could never have anticipated was that Noland Lee had already figured them out.

The language used by the Shadow Deathers was the common language within their domain, not the Ulnas Ring Common Language.

The Deconstruction Results included Level 5 “Shadow Death Watchers’ Linguistics,” so there was no language barrier.

The six Shadow Deathers covertly watching Noland Lee revealed their disguises.

Their strength did not exceed that of a Four-circled.

Noland Lee’s “Mind View” was perfect and did not alert them.

After obtaining the Deconstruction Results, Noland Lee closed “Mind View” and settled down to consider a counterstrategy.

An excellent plan to “lure the snake out of its hole” emerged in Noland Lee’s mind.

Weren’t those six Shadow Deathers about to call for reinforcement to deal with him?

Fine then.

Let them call.

The more, the better.

He could use this opportunity to lure out the Shadow Deathers from the City of Exiles in batches, defeating them one by one, successively mastering the Deconstruction Results.

As long as he had enough Deconstruction samples, Noland Lee could gain a clear picture of the situation inside the City of Exiles without even having to enter it.

“I need to gauge precisely how to entice the enemy to take the bait. I can’t make the Shadow Deathers too afraid to fight and flee, nor can I let them think they can easily take me down by calling in just a few reinforcements. I need to create an illusion that ‘just a few more reinforcements, and they can definitely beat the Thunder Wizard’…”

Noland Lee chuckled silently and called for Nolin in his heart.

After a brief exchange with his little assistant, they came up with a plan to trick batches of Shadow Deathers into a trap.

“…Let’s stick to the plan we discussed, Nolin. Let’s start executing it now.”

“Yes, sir.”

Five Mechanos enchanted with “Mental Illusion” flew towards directions away from the Temporary Base.

These five Mechanos headed in five different directions, each on their own, with no companions nearby.

With “Mental Illusion” in effect, the Mechanos would appear to the Shadow Deathers as “Thunder Wizards with unknown origins.”

Only when the Shadow Deathers got close enough, or if they attacked, would the Mechanos be compelled to reveal their true forms.

Up until that point, the Mechanos’ Disguise was seamless.

All their actions were closely monitored by the Shadow Deathers.

As the five Mechanos moved away from the Temporary Base, the Shadow Deathers began their pursuit.

Except for one individual who stayed behind to coordinate with help, the other five followed the Mechanos.

One Shadow Deather chased after one Mechano.

The five Mechanos neatly split the six Shadow Deathers apart.

This was one of Noland Lee’s little tricks.

Another trick was the flight direction of the Mechanos.

The five Mechanos were flying towards the nests of five Dark Demon Beasts.

The Shadow Deathers had mentioned in their earlier conversation that they feared the “Thunder Wizard” would damage other Demon Beasts Nests.

Noland Lee precisely targeted this concern of theirs, deliberately directing Nolin to control the Mechanos to fly towards the Demon Beasts Nests.

Doing so would undoubtedly make the Shadow Deathers anxious and restless, leading to severe misjudgments.

Sure enough, the Shadow Deathers tailing the Mechanos cursed quietly and stopped in their tracks to write letters once they figured out the “Thunder Wizard’s” flight direction.

They had to request more and more assistance from the City of Exiles.

Otherwise, the considerably sized Demon Beasts Nests stood at risk of destruction by a bunch of nonsensical “Thunder Wizards.”

The Shadow Deathers sought help from the defending forces of the City of Exiles, the battle group under the command of the city lord, called the “Shadow Deathers’ Vigilance Group.”

The Vigilance Group had roughly 700 regular combatants.

Two-thirds were Extraordinary from the Shadows Faction, and one-third were Shadow Series Combat Wizards.

The lord of the City of Exiles was named Mobius Soler, an Eighth Ring Shadow Series Combat Wizard, and also the leader of the Vigilance Group.

The defensive system of the City of Exiles did not include patrolling the surrounding areas. noveldrama

In other words, the combatants of the Vigilance Group would not actively leave the city to patrol the Dark Zone unless ordered.

Such patrolling duties were usually performed by the Shadow Death Wanderers, who gathered magic materials.

The Shadow Deathers currently pursuing the “Thunder Wizards” were referred to as Shadow Death Wanderers.

They excelled in tracking, hiding, exploring, and gathering, mastered simple Shadows Faction Spells, and were adept in hit-and-run fighting.

The Deconstruction Results showed:

While being Three-circled to Four-circled Shadow Wizards, they also held a secondary profession as “Wanderers.”

Every letter for assistance they sent to the City of Exiles would prompt the Shadow Deathers’ Vigilance Group to dispatch a squad of combat wizards.

Now came the crucial point, what level of Reinforcement could ensure the stable capture of “Thunder Wizards”?

In other words, what kind of combat strength did those “Thunder Wizards” really possess?

From the attitude they displayed while sweeping the Ground Snake Nest, the combat strength of this group of “Thunder Wizards” was unlikely to be below the Seven-circle Level.

And what if there were Eighth Ring, even Nine Rings “Thunder Wizards” among them? Wouldn’t that mean only the city lord himself could handle the enemy if he were to come to their aid?

The Shadow Death Wanderers unavoidably fell into anxiety, hesitating for a moment.
