Chapter 1087: 341. Slow & Correct_2
“I wonder if the Alchemy Cathedral in the Upper City Area can stay seated when billions of Aberrations burst forth from underground…”
Noland Lee muttered to himself, employing “Death Flight” and “Illusionary Body Technique” to fly towards the Underground Tunnel while invisible.
Halfway there, Denise Green, who was outside the city, sent a mental message asking about the situation inside the city and Noland’s safety.
Noland reassured Denise, instructing her not to enter the city, to stay as far from the Urban Area as possible, and to be ready to teleport over at a moment’s notice.
After arranging his escape plan, Noland steadied his mind and plunged underground. noveldrama
From Underground Floor 1 to Underground Layer 11, Noland saw a grey fog tinged with blood when he emerged from the Staircase.
...
This was the outward appearance of the Pollution Zone “Decayed Wilderness,” which seemed several grades lower than the “Bustling Tunnel,” a Pollution Zone secretly prepared by the Shadow Death Magic Realm over several years.
As usual, Noland tried to cut through the Pollution Zone’s shell, peeling off a small clump of grey, mushy substance.
Towards the spot of grey matter on the tip of his Dagger, he cast Deconstruction.
[System Message:]
[You will use Deconstruction on a very minor part of the “Decayed Wilderness.”]
[It’s suggested to perform Harmless Deconstruction.]
[The estimated Energy Consumption is 320 billion Energy Points, which can make the completion of the Harmless Deconstruction reach 100%.]
Noland checked his Panel Information.
[Energy Value]1.1 billion/647 (100+547)
In the end, he was still just a pauper…
Noland flicked his wrist nonchalantly, shaking off the clump of grey mud from his Dagger’s tip, took a step forward, and allowed the grey fog to envelop him.
Pollution Zones inherently have the feature “Spatial Transfer.”
Noland only felt a whirlwind sensation, and his head grew heavy.
This terrible condition lasted for about 1 second.
When the spinning sensation subsided, Noland felt a soft, sticky touch under his feet.
He opened his eyes to knock, only to petrify, standing dumbstruck in place.
“This… This is…”
“In the 47th Plane Year, the Silicon Giant’s Plane Core, ‘Silicon Cluster,’ harnessed the Fire of St. Dylan.”
The Assassin Angel said into Noland’s ear:
“At the end of the 47th Plane Year, the Decaying Plague began to spread among the Silicon Giants and quickly evolved into a disaster that wiped out the entire race. When the last Silicon Giant was infected with the plague, the Plane Core known as ‘Gray Rot’ was born, marking the start of the 48th Plane Year. Since then, the ‘Silicon Cluster’ Plane Core has been in decline, wandering the ‘Desolate Universe’ to this very day.”
In front of Noland was a magnificent scene beyond words.
On the vast grey grass plain, Silicon Giants a kilometer tall knelt on the ground.
Their bodies, crafted from special silicon, glowed brilliantly, with dim green lights like fireflies or twinkling stars in the night sky.
There was no doubt these massive and formidable creatures, more agile than mountains and solid as rocks, not only had indestructible bodies but also possessed immensely fierce mobility and combat abilities.
And yet, even They had gone extinct.
The “Decaying Plague” killed Them.
Every Silicon Giant infected with this malignant disease inevitably experienced a transformation of their flesh.
Their hard muscular stones turned into bones wrapped in flesh, blood, and fat.
Their feet, thighs, and abdomens all underwent irreversible changes due to the disease.
And when the flesh spread to the head, a Silicon Giant’s life would come to an end.
No matter how powerful they had been in life—upon the fleshing of their skulls, They would die instantly, followed immediately by…
“Bang, bang, bang, bang————”
Earth-shattering explosions dispersed the clouds, cracked the earth, destroyed the mountains, and overturned the lakes.
The Silicon Giants, turned to bloody flesh by the malignant disease, fell in agony and burst apart.
Showered from above, blood and shattered flesh fell like rain, turning upon landing into something Noland knew all too well:
Gray-skinned Monsters with smooth, unwrinkled surfaces.
One-legged Aberrations, two-legged ones, those with intact limbs, those with a pair of wings, those with eight pairs of wings…
All sorts of Aberrations, whether or not they could fly or walk, were reveling in the throes of Silicon Giants’ death.
But the joy of newfound life did not last before it turned into slaughter and cannibalism among their own kind.
The Aberrations began their civil war.
They used their teeth to tear at their brethren, gnawing at their flesh and wielding their bones as weapons.
They tore off the wings of the Flywing Mutants, dragging blood droplets and strands of flesh to embed onto their own shoulders and backs, mastering the ability to fly.
They ripped the throat pipes capable of Acid Spray from corpses and brutally shoved them into their own mouths, bestowing upon themselves long-range attack abilities.
Even more extreme, using ready-made bones, Filthy Blood, and fascia, they crafted vile shields and armor to arm themselves completely.
This was a bloodbath feast accompanied by evolution and fusion.
No Aberration could survive on innate advantages alone, only the ruthlessly harsh kind capable of constantly stripping the flesh and bones of their kindred could revel in the vertical bloodbath.
“You call these gray-skinned monsters ‘Aberrations.’ I refer to them as ‘Gray Rot People.'”
The Assassin Angel said:
“The ‘Gray Rot’ Plane Core has incited the Gray Rot People to slaughter each other, pushing the tribe to produce leaders who dominate the scene. ‘Gray Rot Lord’ is the title for these tribal leaders.
“At the start of the 48th Plane Year, the ‘Gray Rot Lord,’ guided by the Plane Core, constructed his own plane space within the Silicon Giant’s plane space, and detached it from the Silicon Giant’s plane space, creating a world that belonged solely to the Gray Rot People.”
The Assassin Angel paused:
“The world of the Gray Rot People is called ‘Gray Rot Land.’ The name is plain and unadorned. But after acquiring the Fire of St. Dillan, ‘The Desolate Universe’ was able to spread malignant diseases across the various planes, thus it ran rampant and unchallenged for almost 1,800 human years.”
Noland Lee, observing the carnage of the Gray Rot People from a great distance, couldn’t help but ask:
“Who was it that ended the plane year of the ‘Gray Rot’ Plane Core?”
The Assassin Angel chuckled inexplicably.
“Heh…”
Noland Lee was confused and felt a little creeped out.
The Assassin Angel did not answer, but simply said faintly:
“Go complete your Task. You will have the chance to know the answer in the future.”
Fine then…Noland Lee quirked the corner of his mouth.
He called up his Personal Panel for a quick glance.
The word ‘Decaying Plague’ appeared on the status bar.
The disease had already taken effect, but it would take 180 minutes to split him into 180 Gray Rot People.
Noland Lee raised his right hand and looked at the ‘Divine Power runes’ in his palm.
The Assassin Angel had said that this “Veil of The World” Rune could be used to counter the ‘Decaying Plague.’
Noland Lee examined it with the Deconstruction Technique, and indeed, the Panel Information for the “Veil of Another World” showed the corresponding information.
Besides, its effect was not simply counteracting; it was more accurate to say complete immunity.
As long as he used this rune, Noland Lee could stay in this Pollution Zone for as long as he wanted without being affected by the ‘Decaying Plague.’
But…to use this rune now, would it be a bit of a waste…
Noland Lee hesitated for a moment, then lowered his right hand.
“Let’s see how things go first. It’s not too late to use the rune when the countdown is almost over…”
Noland Lee reached into his Magic Pouch and took out a few Mechanos, calling Nolin in his heart.
The good news was, although the plague of the ‘Gray Wilderness’ was disgusting, its ability to interfere with Mental Magic was far less than that of the ‘Bustling Tunnel.’
Nolin, on Island 33, could manipulate the Mechanos without obstruction and realize group combat.
Feeling worried that the Mechanos might get infected with the disease, turning into a large number of enemies, and increasing the difficulty of the battle, Noland Lee only let Nolin control a few dozen to protect himself.
Using “Death Flight” to hover in the air, Noland Lee had the Mechanos surround himself, forming an “Anti-magic Detection Barrier” and Illusion Magic barrier.
Doing so, Noland Lee could maintain an Invisibility Status immune to magic detection while flying at high speed.
In the current Pollution Zone with vast skies and oceans, as long as he avoided the Gray Rot People, he could fly anywhere.
But the question was, where was the Core District of the Pollution Zone?
Noland Lee scratched his head and called up the “Tracking Mark” list to search for the Spell Mark he had placed on the Thundering Elephant skeleton.
“Hmm…this is a bit troublesome. The Tracking Mark has been destroyed by the radiation of the abilities of the Pollution Zone…”
Noland Lee closed the mark list and combat information.
Looking around, he saw many incomplete corpses.
One of the requirements for resurrecting the Gatherer of Corpses was to have a very large number of corpses.
Now, Noland Lee had an epiphany!
“Your Excellency, the Plane Core that ended the ‘Gray Rot’ plane year, it wouldn’t have something to do with the Gatherer of Corpses, would it?”
The Assassin Angel responded:
“Slow-witted, but the right answer.”
