Chapter 1308: 424. Toolman? No! _3
“Heh, what a clever scheme, they’ve even outsmarted me,” Noland Lee said with a self-deprecating laugh, admitting to himself that it wasn’t too late to realize what was happening.
He pondered for a moment before issuing a side task.
At the same time, all players received a message.
[You have triggered an unexpected task: “Unqualified Tool Man”]
[Task Details: The Guardian Angel Group, which was supposed to come to eliminate the Demon God Host, has not shown up at the scene. All players, including you, have been used by the Angel Enterprise Alliance. Without the help of an organized Star Fleet, you will sacrifice your lives here and gain nothing. Now, it is time to leave this place and shed your role as tool men.]
[Task Reward: Distance yourself from the Motuoli Galaxy until the Demon God Host disappears or is defeated, and you will receive a “Magic Leap” Magic Scroll.]
...
[Failure Penalty: None.]
[Special Note: Returning to the Motuoli Galaxy before the battle outcome is determined will be deemed as task failure.]
Players started discussing.
“Hiss, right, we’re fighting to the death here while the Angel Enterprise Alliance is just watching? Is that fair?”
“The Angel Enterprise Alliance actually dares to treat us like tool men? I xxxx (an elegantly composed curse)!” noveldrama
“Let’s go, brothers, it’s no big deal if we don’t kill this crappy boss.”
Most players were still very persuadable.
However, there were those who started to get greedy ideas.
It was a fact that the Guardian Angel Group was sitting on the wall, watching the drama unfold.
But this was based on the assumption that players were swarming to the scene.
If most players simply gave up and stopped participating, would the Guardian Angel Group then emerge?
By then, wouldn’t one be able to join in the chaos to accomplish the “Eliminate the Demon God Host” task and make a hefty profit?
This viewpoint quickly spread among the player community.
Some shrewd players proposed a reliable plan.
They could simply leave the Motuoli Galaxy, leaving behind a few battleships with cloaking capabilities as spies.
When the Guardian Angels entered the fray, the players could warp back in to join the battle.
The strategy could be offensive or defensive: proceed to complete the “Eliminate the Demon God Host” task, or retreat to secure the guaranteed “Unqualified Tool Man” reward. It was undoubtedly a win-win plan.
This plan spread rapidly among the players through the chat system.
After the Great Guilds communicated and agreed on the plan, the Player Commanders immediately ordered a retreat.
Not long after, dense flashes of white light surrounded the Transport Fleet, as player ships began to warp away one after another.
Only a few invisible escort ships were left, hanging lonely in space.
They slipped into Invisibility Status one by one, disappearing into some corner of the universe.
The Artificial Angels’ corpses slowly wriggled in the cosmic space, the Transport Ships of the Fleet came to a halt, and metal debris drifted with inertia.
Silence fell upon this expanse of the universe.
The armed crew members were dumbfounded for a while, unable to understand why the crowded fleet had suddenly left.
Another being, equally baffled, was the Demon God Host.
This large, rockery-like creature had just arrived next to the Hollow in the Heavy Transport Ship when it witnessed the scene of the players warping away en masse.
Its dry, peeling face was filled with astonishment, much like a duck in the pot that’s completely cooked yet somehow still manages to fly away.
Fine, then.
Players will be players, but the armed crew members are still here, aren’t they?
The Demon God Host stomped forcefully on the floor of the cargo hold and was catapulted out with a bang, shooting out of the ship like a cannonball.
“Bang!”
A loud crash echoed within another battleship.
The Demon God Host, with its flesh and blood, smashed a large Hollow in the External Armor of the ship, piercing straight through it.
What followed was a storm of bloodshed, a one-sided massacre.
