Chapter 979: 304. Wealth Co-creation_3
Noland Lee and his two companions flew hundreds of kilometers before finally encountering the gigantic chasm flickering with lightning.
That ever-cloudy, thunderous depression was none other than the Eternal Lightning Ravine.
It looked more like a basin overflowing with lightning and dark clouds rather than a mountain gorge.
Several squads of Wealth Wizards from the Merchant Alliance patrolled around the perimeter of the Eternal Lightning Ravine, blatantly spreading wide-range detection spells.
Noland Lee’s trio was unavoidably scanned by the detection spells.
A squad of Wealth Wizards adjusted their direction midair and rapidly flew toward Noland’s location.
...
In less than three minutes, these guys arrived nearby, hovering in the air with a “Levitation Spell.”
“The Wealth Creation Council is searching for wizard criminals. State your identities and origins.”
The leading Wealth Wizard, with a face hidden behind a black hood and a dark red mask, blocked the path Noland Lee and his companions had to take.
Noland Lee reverted from his black light ribbon form back to human and floated in the air as he asked:
“The Wealth Creation Council is searching for wizard criminals? Do you have enforcement authority?”
“Quit the nonsense.”
A gaze shot out from beneath the Wealth Wizard’s mask, surveying Noland and the torch beside him, Denise Green.
As for Louisa Garwick, donning the Silent Enforcer’s Mask, she was deliberately ignored by the Wealth Wizards.
Noland sensed the gaze of the opposing wizards and felt amused.
There were a total of five Wealth Wizards in front of him: one Five-Ring Battle Wizard and four Four-Ring Combat Wizards.
Noland cast a Deconstruction spell at the unpleasantly-toned leader.
[System Message:]
[You have consumed 82,000 Points of Energy to launch a Deconstruction Technique at the target.]
[Deconstruction Success!]
[You have obtained the target’s Panel Information and Memory Fragment.]
Noland skipped over the Panel Information and directly looked at the Memory Fragment.
[Memory Fragment One: “Search Order issued by the Blue and Gold Elder of the Wealth Creation Council,” completeness 100%.]
The first memory fragment was precisely what Noland wanted to see.
He brushed aside other Deconstruction Results and read the “Search Order” as fast as he could.
Interesting.
Noland chuckled to himself.
He was certain that he and the so-called “Bluegold Elder” had no connection.
Yet, the “Search Order” distinctly emphasized his, Noland Lee’s, physical features.
Without much thought, it was clear that the Blue and Gold Elder of the Wealth Creation Council aimed to find Noland by deploying so many Wealth Wizards.
As for what the Bluegold Elder intended to do after finding him, Noland had a pretty good idea.
“The Pomida Family is quicker to react than I’d anticipated,” Noland thought to himself:
“From the time I teleported to Barren Stone Quarry to now, at most two hours have passed. The Pomida Family has already found out that my destination is the Eternal Lightning Ravine.
“Professor Erica didn’t send me a letter, indicating that the Pomida Family’s channels of information have nothing to do with Professor Erica. They found out from somewhere else that I was coming to the Eternal Lightning Ravine.
“Within two hours, first, they learned of my destination, then they found the Bluegold Elder and requested the Wealth Creation Council to pinpoint my exact whereabouts…
“Does the Pomida Family have such capabilities? Why does it feel like the handiwork of the Pure Light Court…”
Before Noland could ponder further, the five Wealth Wizards surrounded them, holding Imprisonment Collars specially made to seal spell-casting abilities.
The Soul Stasis Gemstone on the Imprisonment Collars was only 40-level.
It looked like the Wealth Wizards considered Noland to be an ordinary Third-Ring Wizard and were unaware of his true strength.
That made sense.
On the “Search Order,” only Noland’s appearance was mentioned, without detailing his strength or background.
Louisa Garwick, seeing the five wizards’ rude behavior, stepped forward in front of Noland and Denise, summoning a grey mist barrier with Silent power to block the opposition.
“I am Louisa Garwick, the Silent Enforcer,” Louisa said coldly:
“According to Ulnas Circle Rule No. 2, any non-Enforcement Wizard detaining a Legal Wizard must present a formal ‘Order Book.’ Where is your ‘Order Book’?”
The leader of the Wealth Wizards was prepared and pulled out the “Order Book” from the Magic Pouch, unfolding and displaying it with a [Mage’s Hand].
Louisa saw Noland’s name and image on the “Order Book,” but there was not a single mention of his identity as a “Silent Enforcer.”
Putting together the conversation she had with Noland on the way, Louisa immediately understood that Noland’s adversaries were deliberately picking a fight.
“You have been used,” Louisa pointed at Noland and Denise behind her:
“He is also an Enforcement Wizard. Unless there’s an arrest warrant from wizard forces, you have no right to detain him.” noveldrama
“An Enforcement Wizard…” The Wealth Wizards were collectively taken aback, not anticipating this development.
For a moment, they were uncertain whether or not to retract the Imprisonment Collars in their hands…
Noland was wearing a plain Death Mage’s Magic Robe, entirely black except for white lines around the collar.
He didn’t wear a Silent Enforcer’s Mask, and his real identity was not revealed in the “Order Book.”
There was no doubt that the person behind the Bluegold Elder simply wanted to use the Wealth Wizards to annoy Noland a bit and show that they knew where he was—not truly intending to detain him.
It was a warning.
It could also be seen as a threat.
Because the next time someone came knocking, it might not be hired help like the Wealth Wizards, but Enforcement Wizards with lawful authority instead.
