Chapter 1331: 434.GM online
‘The Dark Divine Cult has started to make its move against the Cucumber Slice Team…’
Noland Lee descended in the form of his magic avatar, standing quietly in front of Cucumber Slice. noveldrama
He didn’t immediately soothe the panicked Cucumber Slice, but instead rapidly surveyed the surroundings, carefully checking if there was any residual power of the Dark Priests inside or outside the ship.
An invisible detection spell swept through the ship from the inside out, swiftly encompassing the space station where the ship was docked.
As expected, the Dark Divine Cult had already set up their operations within this space station.
In the water recycling room of the space station, several sneaky figures were hastily packing away ceremonial materials, preparing to retreat.
...
The milky radiance emitted earlier from Noland’s Academy Badge originated from Pure Light Magic, specifically targeting all energies and matter with “dark” and “evil” attributes.
The Pure Light Magic spell named “Radiant Shimmer” not only annihilated the half-human statue, but also destroyed the Dark Ritual set up in the water recycling room.
The Dark Priests were immersing the discarded ceremonial materials into the purification pool, using its potent cleaning abilities to erase all traces.
Noland Lee was not one to coddle these vermin.
He raised his hand and snapped his fingers, launching “Radiant Shimmer” at them from afar.
The explosive flash of milky light instantly burned the several Black-Robed figures to ash.
However, this time Noland didn’t go all out.
He spared their souls.
As his five fingers curled towards his palm, the souls of the Dark Priests, extracted from their shells by “Soul Extraction,” rapidly flew out of the space station’s water recycling room and soon arrived into Noland’s hand.
The souls were compressed by Noland into the shape of glass balls, floating about two or three centimeters away from his palm. The souls within the balls stared out with enlarged eyes, filled with immense fear as they gazed upon the holy figure emanating light in front of them.
With his other hand, Noland made a grabbing motion in the air, conjuring a Shadow Orb out of nothingness and sealing the soul-filled Glass Balls within it.
After completing this step, Noland then turned to look at Cucumber Slice, who was still shocked by his series of actions.
Cucumber Slice swallowed hard.
The milky figure in front of him had no face, yet Cucumber Slice could still feel its gaze on him.
Gathering his courage, he met that gaze and timidly greeted:
“Dean… Dean?”
Since Noland had a prior arrangement with the “Wizard” Plane Core to leave the reputation he created in Outer Space for him, he never disclosed his real name or origins.
Players either called him “That Man,” “The Magic Man,” or referred to him as the Dean.
Noland had no objections to the title of Dean, and thus he slightly nodded his chin, speaking unhurriedly:
“You’ve encountered a BUG.”
Cucumber Slice’s expression became animated.
His look turned into one of “I knew it,” then he exclaimed in surprise:
“Aren’t you an NPC? How do you know about BUGs? Are you actually a real person pretending to be one?”
Cucumber Slice clapped his hands suddenly:
“Damn! I knew it! Although the game claims to be fully operated by a powerful AI without human administration, there must still be GMs. You must be one, right? What should I do now? How come I logged in out of nowhere?”
Cucumber Slice’s tone became lively, the unease in his heart largely dissipating.
In a game, encountering a BUG isn’t scary, as game administrators with backend control privileges, the GMs, can completely aid the player in escaping troubles, and even help recover losses.
Noland pointed out Cucumber Slice’s encounter with a BUG so as to first stabilize the young man, preventing him from panicking and causing an accident.
Seeing that Cucumber Slice had calmed down, Noland spoke with composure:
“The BUG you’ve encountered is particularly malicious. After tracking the backend data, we have found that you are not to blame for the BUG but a pure victim. After initiating the emergency plan, I immediately logged in to help you deal with the BUG.”
Cucumber Slice nodded like a pecking chicken, fully accepting Noland’s explanation.
Noland paused for a moment, drew a line in the air with his finger, and created two fist-sized light spheres.
One light sphere was blue, and the other was red.
“According to our emergency plan, as a victim of a severe BUG, you have two choices.”
Noland floated the blue sphere in front of Cucumber Slice:
“If you choose this blue light sphere, you will log out immediately, and your game character will be reset to the state at your last normal logout. Wait quietly for half an hour after you log out, log back in, and everything will return to normal. You will receive a handsomely rewarding hidden Task as compensation.”
The words “handsomely rewarding” were particularly attractive.
As an experienced player, Cucumber Slice was quite tempted, but after his gaze lingered on the blue sphere for a few seconds, he turned towards the adjacent red sphere.
If choosing the blue sphere meant gaining a hidden Task, what would the red sphere offer?
Cucumber Slice’s experience in exploring game content told him the red sphere was definitely not as simple as it seemed.
The red sphere slowly floated in front of Cucumber Slice and halted.
Noland said:
“This is your second option, which is to assist us in handling this malicious BUG.”
“Assist you?” asked Cucumber Slice.
“Yes.” Noland nodded slightly:
“I can tell you honestly, you are not the first player to encounter this kind of malicious BUG. In fact, before you, no fewer than 50 players have experienced the same situation. We have offered character reset services to these players.”
