Chapter 1406: 464. Game leads to death _2
“Among the many works that explain the origin of the Sacred Fire, the worldview of ‘Dillan Paradise’ is the most self-consistent and the best at marketing. It divides the players of the gods’ game into three factions, creating a situation where the factions mutually restrain and scheme against each other. This game has been popular since its release, all the way up until the Star Gods went to war with other gods.”
Noland Lee didn’t know what to say now.
The deities of the Supreme Star Palace had nothing better to do? They enjoyed making up stories to deceive people?
And they liked to explore the origins of the Sacred Fire? They even dragged in the whole concept of cosmic cycles—this was just… too speechless…
Noland Lee asked in a faint voice,
“Don’t tell me that the developer of this game is Angel of Heart Vaana…”
...
“You guessed right,” said the Assassin Angel,
“Judging from the outcome of the Star Palace’s collapse, Vaana used this game to corrupt the Star Palace and the Star Gods. You absolutely can’t imagine how popular this game was within the Star Palace. We habitually call the Sacred Fire ‘Fire of St. Dillan’ because of this game.”
The Assassin Angel sighed lightly and said,
“Ah, I understand now. When the war broke out in the Star Palace, three factions appeared, and these factions correspond exactly to the three factions in ‘Dillan Paradise’.
“The Star God was beguiled by Extraterrestrial Eternity, wanting to hand over the Sacred Fire to it. This clearly indicates He chose the side that sought to align with Extraterrestrial Eternity in the game.
“The deities attempting to monopolize the Sacred Fire to control the Plane Core were the ones trying to control everything, corresponding to those in the game who wanted to hoard the Sacred Fire for themselves.
“And existences like me, Gilenz, and Senati, who were maintaining the order of the Star Palace, belonged to the protectors, who aimed to eliminate Extraterrestrial Eternity, similar to the faction in the game looking to eradicate all remnants of the paradise.”
Noland Lee asked,
“Which faction did the Scroll Angel belong to?”
The Assassin Angel shook her head,
“She was killed by the crazed Star God before the Battle of the Gods began and was later resurrected with your help. Strictly speaking, She doesn’t belong to any faction and should be considered a survivor of the Supreme Star Palace’s collapse.”
Contemplating, Noland Lee asked,
“So do angels have a Plane Core behind them?”
The Assassin Angel glanced at Noland Lee,
“I know what you want to ask. Angels draw their power from within themselves, not from a Plane Core. In the game ‘Dillan Paradise,’ the Plane Core represents the remnants of the paradise, while we, the angels, are set as the natives of this cycle of the universe. In other words, in that game, angels are the protagonists of this cosmic cycle, while the Plane Core is just an intruder that has scraped by from the previous cycle.
“But you should know that it is just a game, a game developed by the gods while exploring the origins of the Sacred Fire. Unless we truly understand the Sacred Fire, no one can prove that the worldview of this game is true.”
Silently nodding, Noland Lee expressed his agreement,
“You’re right. What’s most important now is reconstructing the Star Palace, not delving into this.”
After briefly assessing Noland Lee’s condition and making sure there were no serious issues, the Assassin Angel withdrew the protective satin ribbon,
“Let’s hurry. First, we’ll sabotage the foundation of the Metal Creation Group and then return to the Inner Cosmos to stop the Metal Ancestor Dragon, the Dark Divine Cult, and the Death Steel Legion from getting close to the Sacred Fire.”
Speaking of the Metal Creation Group, Noland Lee had gathered some reliable leads.
He summoned the deconstruction results of his previous attack on the Dark Galaxy with a Star Destroyer Level Magic Bomb in his mind, selected a few key segments, and shared them with the Assassin Angel through ‘Mind Infusion’.
These segments were related to communication records from the biological research centers in the Dark Galaxy.
They contained highly encrypted information.
By decrypting this information and extracting the communication signal identification codes, Noland Lee located several sites suspected to be Metal Creation Group headquarters servers.
“I need some more time to confirm these locations. Only by doing so can we ensure we have identified the right target and can take down the headquarters of the Metal Creation Group in one fell swoop,” said Noland Lee.
After going through the deconstruction results in her mind, the Assassin Angel had an idea,
“You’re responsible for locating the group’s headquarters. I’ll visit the planet controlled by ‘Command’ first, to find the spies from the Dark Divine Cult lurking within. If I have the chance, I’ll meet with Senati and see how He’s doing now.”
“Okay,” Noland Lee squinted towards the speckled stars far away, in the direction of the Angel’s Voice Space Station,
“Go ahead with your tasks. After I help the players take over the space station, I will start the investigation of the Metal Creation Group headquarters.”
The Assassin Angel raised her hand to gather a cloud of purple mist, which she fashioned into a faintly glowing purple amulet and gave it to Noland Lee, reminding him to carry it with him at all times.
“`
After completing this step, the Assassin Angel’s figure flashed and disappeared on the desolate red-brown planetosphere.
Noland Lee held the misty amulet and marveled at the Angel’s formidable teleportation ability, then immediately threw himself into command.
“‘Command’, how’s the situation on the front line? Has the Space Station launched ‘Space Erasure’?”
As Noland Lee pulled up the Magic Vision to monitor the battlefield, he typed inquiries on the game interface.
Two seconds later, several lines of characters appeared on the interface:
“Players have already taken over almost half of the Space Station and are slowly pushing the frontline. ‘Space Erasure’ is unlikely to occur now, the players are about to claim victory.”
The key point was in the last sentence.
Hidden behind ‘Command’, Senati must have already seen the outcome of the future.
After the physical body of the Assassin Angel fled the Space Station, it indeed wasn’t necessary for the Angel Enterprise Alliance to initiate ‘Space Erasure’.
Similarly, a Space Station without the presence of the Assassin Angel’s physical body was as good as stripped of most of its strategic value; there was no need for the Alliance to defend it to the death.
Under such circumstances, the victory of the players was just a matter of time.
After observing the battlefield through Magic Vision for a few seconds, Noland Lee silently decided to create several emergent tasks to steer the players towards a swift conclusion of the fight.
Just at that moment, ‘Command’ sent a line of characters:
“The spies of the Dark Divine Cult on ‘Reality’ planetosphere have been eradicated by the Assassin Angel.”
“This quick?!” Noland Lee expressed his astonishment with several exclamation marks.
The Assassin Angel truly lived up to being the ace in the field of assassination; such efficiency was simply amazing.
‘Command’ continued writing:
“As per our previous agreement, you helped me eliminate the threats on the planet, and I will provide you with a corresponding reward. As for how you and the Assassin Angel divide these rewards, that’s up to you.”
‘Command’ listed five options on the game interface and allowed Noland Lee to choose any three from them.
Option one: Customize a player, that is, to create a player that meets Noland Lee’s requirements and complements his actions.
Option two: Customize a race, that is, to create Soul Constructs of the extraordinary race that Noland Lee needs.
Option three: The method for Devouring Demon God Cells, enhancing one’s own physical body.
Option four: ‘Echo Chip’, which contains real historical records from a certain period of the Supreme Star Palace.
Option five: Star Maps of five habitable planetospheres.
Noland Lee didn’t immediately make a decision.
He initiated the soul contract he had established with the Assassin Angel and engaged in a soul-level conversation with the other party.
About 10 minutes later, the Assassin Angel, wandering on the player’s “Reality” planetosphere, and Noland Lee agreed on a plan for selecting the rewards.
“I choose options two, three, and four.”
Option three, the method for Devouring Demon God Cells, would be enjoyed by Noland Lee himself.
The choice of options two and four were the suggestions of the Assassin Angel.
Using option two ‘Customize a Race’, the Assassin Angel would commission ‘Command’ of the Plane’s Core to create batches of Soul Constructs under its control.
These Soul Constructs would assist the Assassin Angel in completing its assassination tasks.
Option four’s ‘Echo Chip’ held the true history of the Supreme Star Palace.
Whether it’s the historical information or the ‘Echo Chip’ itself, both were extremely important.
Because, only Senati could manufacture something like an ‘Echo Chip’.
By offering option four, ‘Command’ was hinting at the identity of its behind-the-scenes persona. noveldrama
And by choosing option four, Noland Lee and the Assassin Angel were accepting the hint, tentatively acknowledging Senati’s identity.
Almost at the moment Noland Lee had the rewards in hand, the Assassin Angel sent a message saying that it had encountered Senati on the players’ “Reality” planetosphere.
Noland Lee imagined the scene of the two Angels “from the same hometown meeting each other,” and then opened the recently acquired ‘Method of Devouring Demon God Cells’ to review.
