Chapter 1214: 384. Enter the Domain_2
Before they could figure out what was happening, the black water pillar that had erupted from underground was manipulated by an invisible force, converging directly above the center of the city before swiftly spreading in all directions, forming a black canopy that enveloped the entire city.
No sooner had the enormous magic barrier begun to take shape than the wizards in the sky reacted, hastily accelerating toward the ground, attempting to fly into the city before the barrier could close.
Just then, with a thunderous boom, the world trembled!
A wall formed from black mist appeared at the edge of the sky, towering and majestic, reaching from the heavens to the ground.
In just a moment, this black wall structure, which blocked the entire western sky, swept across the earth from west to east at lightning speed, ruthlessly crushing all buildings in its path.
Revival City, along with all the humans and wizards within, was swallowed by the black wall structure, and darkness filled the world.
...
[Attention!]
[Your “Tracking Mark (No. 335 to 510)” has been destroyed by “????”.]
As the spell mark disappeared, “Mind View” was cut off, and Magic Vision ceased to exist.
“Sir, what is that black wall?” Nolin asked with lingering fear.
Noland Lee cast Deconstruction at the system text in his mind, precisely deconstructing “????”.
After expending some Energy Points, Noland knew the truth behind the question marks—it was the so-called Steel Forest of Mortal World, a Pollution Zone.
Who would have thought, despite stealing that batch of Soul Energy worth 3 billion points, the Undead Cult still managed to forcibly open a Pollution Zone…
Noland Lee rubbed his brows and said:
“That black wall structure must be the external barrier of some kind of Pollution Zone. Right, Nolin, how many days have passed since I brought back the 3 billion points of Soul Energy?”
Without hesitation, Nolin responded:
“It has been a total of 112 days and 15 hours.”
“So that’s nearly 4 months…” Noland Lee stroked his chin.
The Assassin Angel had originally estimated that, at most, it would take less than half a year for the Metal Ancestor Dragon Tarsali to gather another batch of Soul Energy.
Half a year is 6 months, and now 4 months had passed, two months ahead of schedule.
It seems that both Tarsali and the Undead Cult have been exceedingly active lately; otherwise, how could they have completed the preparation plan for Soul Energy ahead of time?
“Meow~”
The Snow-winged Cat brought Noland some letters, sent by Professor Erica, reminding Noland that a new Pollution Zone had appeared in Revival City.
The Wizard Advancement Association issued a non-mandatory Research Task to all Ulnas Circle members regarding the Pollution Zone almost immediately.
All wizards could go there to conduct research, provided that they report to the Wizard Advancement Association beforehand.
Additionally, the Wizard Advancement Association also provided a piece of information, outlining the dangers of this Pollution Zone, with a particular emphasis on the anti-magic creatures that might exist within it.
Professor Erica’s intention was that she just happened to want to send someone in to check out the so-called “anti-magic creatures”.
If Noland was interested, he could get in touch with her to register. noveldrama
Noland wrote a Reply, politely declining Professor Erica’s invitation.
He planned to act alone; he did not want the Silent Maiden to get tangled up in his conflict with Tarsali.
“Nolin, get ready, bring the Sentry Mechanism, and we will take a trip to that Pollution Zone. Of course, you don’t have to go yourself, you can just help me through the mechanism,” he said.
“Yes, Sir,” she replied.
As he prepared his gear, Noland felt quite relieved.
Fortunately, he was aware of the existence of anti-magic materials and had specifically instructed Nolin to design and create mechanisms that relied on non-magical energy sources for combat, or else he would now be in quite a sweat.
The method to determine whether a type of energy is magical energy is simple, just see if such energy exists in the outer space of now.
Outer space does not have Rock and Soil Energy, Metal Energy, Natural Energy, Death Energy, Deep Sea Magic Power, Blood Magic Power, etc., and therefore, these energies are unique magical energies of the World of Wizards.
As for Thunder and Lightning Energy and Fire Energy, these types of energy have “relatives” in outer space, alternating current and direct current are relatives of Thunder and Lightning Energy, and heat is a relative of Fire Energy; thus, Thunder and Lightning Energy and Fire Energy can be used as non-magical energy if their form is altered slightly.
Kinetic Energy exists in both the World of Wizards and outer space and is the most typical form of non-magical energy.
The Sentry Mechanism that Noland had Nolin create placed half its emphasis on kinetic energy damage, making it well-suited for dealing with the creatures in the Pollution Zone.
Noland Lee waved his hand, sweeping the ready mechanisms into his Magic Pouch.
After some hesitation, he still opted for a selection of high-mobility metallic mechanos as backups, to prevent the situation where he might be kited by the enemy.
With everything ready, Noland Lee immediately set out.
This time, he did not initiate a teleportation gate near the Suman Archipelago; instead, he chose the most reliable method to get to Alchemist Island.
This method involved having Selena use the Miniature Ocean to transfer him to the Deep Sea Zone, then he would personally cast the “Water Walking Technique” and head to Alchemist Island from beneath the ocean surface.
In this way, absolutely no outsiders would know Noland Lee had left the Suman Archipelago.
…
…
The “Bustling Tunnel” pollution zone was not small, but since it appeared in the Dark Zone, it was difficult for ordinary people to reach, thus its influence was not that significant.
The “Steel Forest of Mortal World” pollution zone was different though.
Its area was comparable to the “Bustling Tunnel”, and it was exposed on the ground level, allowing anyone to use teleportation spells to “visit” it.
The commotion it stirred up eclipsed the public reward orders of the 13442nd Sub-Dimensional Plane and the Pure Light Court in just one day’s time, helping Noland Lee completely erase the rumors circulating on the market.
A rough estimate suggested that on the very day the pollution zone emerged, at least ten thousand wizards used teleportation spells to reach the periphery of the pollution zone.
Among them were wizards from the Ulnas Circle as well as Grey Wizards.
Upon encountering one another, both sides restrained themselves from outright conflict.
While there were no large battles, minor frictions were incessant.
Noland Lee avoided both factions, landing at the southernmost tip of Alchemist Island, then stealthily made his way to the outskirts of the pollution zone.
Looking at the black fog wall that covered most of the heavens, Noland Lee felt a faint palpitation because within the black mist lurked huge, ghostly shadows that swam through the fog like ferocious beasts lurking at the water bottom.
Noland Lee checked his belongings one by one, and after confirming repeatedly that there were no oversights, he mustered up the courage and dove into the black fog.
As he neared the mist, a massive suction force pulled him in, followed by world spinning disorientation and ongoing booming explosions.
Whether it was the noise or the uncontrollable spinning, both ignored his magic shield and acted directly on his body, proving difficult to withstand.
If not for Noland Lee’s body being robust enough, he seriously doubted whether he could survive the pollution zone’s inherent “Spatial Transfer” effect.
Finally, after suffering for what seemed like an eternity but was only ten seconds, the noise at his ears faded, and Noland Lee regained control over his body.
Opening his eyes to look ahead, Noland Lee’s pupils widened as he saw the reflection of a landscape dotted with high-rises, and his breathing momentarily stalled.
He saw a city!
A modern city!
Everything closely resembled the urban world he had experienced before crossing over, except here there were no bright lights, only desolation.
The buildings were leaning and looked like they could collapse at any moment, while some buildings were stacked together like building blocks.
The surface of every building was covered with black objects.
The interior of every building was pitch-black and yet flickered with faint green light.
Shifting his gaze, Noland Lee looked around.
He stood at the periphery of an urban area, on scorched earth that was dark and barren, surrounded by charred remains.
“I really miss the days when the Assassin Angel followed me around; then I could have learned the historical story behind this pollution zone from them…”
In his mind, Noland Lee sketched out spell blueprints and cast the “Veil of Different Worlds (Imitation)” on himself.
His figure turned transparent.
After half a minute, several mechanos also in invisibility status flew out from beside him, headed for the nearby urban area.
As the view of the urban area magnified in his magic vision, the layout inside the buildings became gradually clearer.
“I wonder if there will be anyone inside…”
Noland Lee thought to himself.
Just as he had encountered the Grey Wasteland Poet in the “Grey Wasteland”, perhaps there might be some “ancient inhabitants” from a historical period in this “Steel Forest of Mortal World”.
