Chapter 1368: 449. A bit of conscience
I must say that today has been quite a success.
On two different levels, no less.
For the plundering team, it’s as if mountains of gold and silver were lying in front of them, ready for the taking.
For Noland Lee, a large group of native pilots from the Angel Enterprise Alliance had gathered, providing him with ample opportunities to deconstruct them en masse.
Noland Lee had prepared over a thousand magic puppets at the Black Hole Magic Academy.
They were petite, only the size of butterflies, with wings that allowed them to move swiftly in any medium.
...
After enchanting them with the “Veil of Different Worlds” magic runes, each magic puppet became an invisible automatic tool for installing magic bombs.
Noland Lee placed several hundred high-power magic bombs in the space pockets of these dangerous yet cute little gadgets.
The magic puppets would take advantage of the unmanned drones coming and going to enter the ships, and place the magic bombs around the power room.
When the time was ripe, Noland Lee would naturally ignite all the bombs, reducing these more than a thousand ships to fragments.
So, when would be the right time?
The answer is simple, it’s the moment right before the ship is about to initiate a jump.
According to the universally followed “Pilots Safety Manual,” before engaging jump mode, a ship must ensure that there are no significant external disturbances.
Once jump mode is initiated, there’s no stopping it.
If a fire breaks out on the ship after jump mode starts, or if there’s a malfunction in the power room, it would cause an extremely serious disaster.
The ship, at best, would begin a jump in a shattered condition, and at worst, would be torn apart by the jump field on the spot, not even leaving behind cosmic dust.
There have been many such examples in the history of space navigation.
However, Noland Lee didn’t place magic bombs on the heavy transport ships.
Those transport ships that were transferring player bodies were packed with unwanted player avatars.
Once the magic bombs detonated, all the players would be sent to heaven, and each would lose experience.
In the eyes of the players, experience is for leveling up, but for the “Order Plane’s Core,” that is soul energy.
When players lose experience, it’s as if the “Order Plane’s Core” is losing soul energy.
After all, players are essentially soul constructs, and soul constructs are completely derived from soul energy.
Each time a player dies, the “Order Plane’s Core” has to expend soul energy to reshape their physical body—that is, their game character.
There are at least a hundred thousand players near the black hole.
If all these players died, it’s estimated that the “Order Plane’s Core” would bleed heavily.
Therefore, the “Order Plane’s Core” struck a deal with Noland Lee, asking him not to place magic bombs on the heavy transport ships, asserting it had its own ways to deal with the game characters on the ship.
Since the “Order Plane’s Core” had made the request, Noland Lee naturally agreed.
Noland Lee directed the magic puppets to avoid the transport ships and head into their respective targeted vessels.
The task of setting up the bombs was proceeding methodically. Meanwhile, the plundering team’s operations were going smoothly as well, with no sign of the United Bureau’s Security Guard on the scene.
Just when Noland Lee thought both parties would not interfere with each other, something unexpected happened.
An inexplicable uneasiness began to grow in his heart.
This feeling was hazy and vague, somewhat indistinct, yet it chilled him to the bone like a sword hanging over his head.
“What’s going on… hiss… something’s not right, but I can’t put my finger on it.”
Noland Lee rubbed his chin, his brows furrowed tightly, as he paid close attention to the negative emotions from the mental level.
He was not unfamiliar with this sensation.
In fact, every time he used mental magic to observe some powerful and hidden entities, his soul would issue such an alarm.
But looking into his mind’s magic vision, Noland Lee was somewhat baffled.
The people and objects his magic puppets faced were just crew members and equipment aboard the ship.
On a superficial level, these people, these things, should not be significant. noveldrama
They were either synthetic humans that had undergone electronic and mechanical modifications or intelligent devices, showing no signs of involvement in the extraordinary realm.
Yet why would these things cause his soul to tremble?
A flash of insight crossed Noland Lee’s mind, and a light of realization and caution gleamed in his eyes!
“I’ve got it, I know what’s happening!”
Noland Lee snapped his fingers, observing the magic vision with a solemn expression.
He divided his mind’s magic vision into two groups, 600 windows to the left and 600 to the right.
After temporarily shutting down the 600 windows on the left, the disturbance at the mental level did not dissipate.
Noland Lee then closed the 600 windows on the right.
As expected, the mental disturbance faded away, leaving no trace.
This meant that the cause of the mental fluctuation resided within those 600 windows to the right.
To pinpoint exactly which magic vision was causing the mental disturbance, Noland Lee split the 600 windows to the right in half again and repeated the previous steps.
Two minutes later, Noland Lee singled out one window from the many magic visions and centered it in his field of view, while sweeping the other windows to the sides.
This particular window, the one he had isolated, was the culprit causing the mental disturbance.
The magic vision corresponding to this window was located on an inconspicuous engineering guardian ship.
This guardian ship was engaging in hull cutting operations.
Its two laser cutters aimed at the player’s ship, jetting out lasers with a sizzling sound, precisely cutting skylights into the external armor of the target ship.
