Chapter 891: 278. This Wild Magic_2
With a splash, Yorksim plunged into the sea.
Roaring, cursing, swearing, denouncing, and reproaching—the ship was a cacophony of sounds.
No matter the ship’s size or weight, none were spared from being sucked into the whirlpool.
Within less than three minutes, apart from a dark green sphere of light, not a single vessel or human could be seen on the surface of the sea.
Afterward, the whirlpool dissipated, the sea calmed, and silence enveloped the area.
The “culprit” behind these calamities, a dark cloud that had drifted from the north, had now reached the airspace above Subsea No.13.
...
“Gentlemen, do you see that dark cloud? That is ‘Thundercloud Technique’ created by Noland Lee Jarvis.”
Tens of kilometers away from Subsea No.13, three figures cloaked in invisibility hung in midair, conversing in hushed tones.
Selena’s older brother, Lonco Pomida, raised his hand and pointed at the dark clouds on sky’s edge, asking the wizard wearing a lightning mask over his face:
“Lord Gathered Thunder, given your proficiency in lightning magic, what is your assessment of this magic’s power?”
The wizard known as Gathered Thunder was none other than the Saint Level Thunder Battle Mage, Benjamin Jelani.
However, it was not his actual self that had come to this place.
Lonco realized that the wizard in the simple white magic robe was likely just a magic avatar of Benjamin Jelani.
As for the principles behind the operation of this magic avatar and the magic means by which it was created, Lonco was clueless.
The other party covered all their skin with the robe, leaving not a single gap, and used a hood and mask to completely envelop the neck and head.
The most exaggerated was the mask.
It was a mask purely composed of thunder and lightning energy, without eye sockets or a mouthpiece, flowing with filamentous lightning patterns, occasionally spitting out a few sparks of electrical fire.
Lonco suspected that this was not merely a mask, but rather the face of the magic avatar.
In response to Lonco’s query, Benjamin Jelani appraised with a calm baritone:
“This is the work of a Saint Level Thunder Wizard.”
“Saint Level…” Lonco was momentarily taken aback:
“Are you certain, Lord Gathered Thunder?”
Benjamin Jelani turned his head, glancing at Lonco:
“If you’re not well-versed in shaping energy spells, I can explain it to you.”
“I would appreciate that, Your Excellency,” Lonco replied with a slight bow. noveldrama
Benjamin Jelani turned his head back to survey the thundercloud, while speaking:
“The difficulty in shaping energy spells lies in controlling the perilous magic energy. Flames and lightning are among the more dangerous types existing within common magical energies. Shaping wizards need to expend much more spiritual energy when dealing with these two types of energy.
“The more lightning energy controlled, the higher the difficulty of control, and the more rapidly the wizard’s spirit will decline, quickly leading to exhaustion, tiredness, and a feeling of inadequacy.
“A shaping wizard below the Saint Tier would have to rely on ‘Energetic’ spells and magical items like ‘Awakening Potion’ to maintain a spirited state for a short amount of time.
“But no matter how much they stimulate their spirit, a shaping wizard below the Saint Tier cannot possibly control ten billion points of thunder and lightning energy for more than a second.”
Benjamin Jelani paused and then added:
“Only shaping wizards of the Saint Tier and above can control such vast magical energy for an extended period. Do you understand now, Lonco?”
Lonco inhaled sharply:
“Yes, Your Excellency… So, since Noland Lee Jarvis is a Saint Tier Shaping Energy Wizard, does that make ‘Thundercloud Technique’ a Saint Tier shaping energy spell too?”
Benjamin Jelani shook his head with an almost imperceptible motion:
“No, Lonco, don’t measure the thundercloud you see by modern magic standards. You should consider it ‘Wild Magic’.”
“Wild Magic?!” Lonco exclaimed:
“You mean this is wild magic not controlled by ‘Ascension Fortress’?!”
“You’re aware of wild magic?” Benjamin Jelani inquired.
“Yes, Your Excellency. It’s something my father and I discussed,” Lonco responded.
“Other than you, there’s no one else in the Pomida family who knows about wild magic, right?” Benjamin Jelani asked.
Lonco shook his head resolutely:
“No, Your Excellency, absolutely not. Besides myself, as the eldest son with knowledge of wild magic, all other family members know only of ‘Ascension Fortress’.”
“I see,” Benjamin Jelani did not pursue further but instead asked:
“This Noland Lee Jarvis you speak of, has he spent time here at the Starfall Sea before?”
“Yes, Your Excellency. To my knowledge, he has sailed out to sea at least twice on a magic yacht, and both times his destination was the Starfall Sea,” Lonco replied respectfully.
Benjamin Jelani nodded slightly:
“Hmm, that makes sense. He may have inadvertently come across a dragon clan collection that recorded this spell. There are still quite a few such wild magic spells in the Spinning Continent.”
Lonco, lost in thought, asked:
“Then, Your Excellency, is it possible for us to replicate ‘Thundercloud Technique’?”
Benjamin Jelani pondered for a moment:
“We could replicate it, or we could not; it depends on whether your father is willing to wait.
“In as little as half a year, and at most two years, ‘Ascension Fortress’ will tame this wild spell. The more frequently Noland Lee Jarvis uses ‘Thundercloud Technique,’ the sooner ‘Thundercloud Technique’ will be incorporated into ‘Ascension Fortress’.
“At some point in the future, Noland Lee Jarvis will suddenly discover the power of his ‘Thundercloud Technique’ greatly diminished. By then, he’ll have no choice but to hand over the spell and collaborate with your father.”
