Chapter 1220: 387. Rumors and Gossip
Noland Lee avoided the objects contaminated by Tarsali, and searched all around at ground level, the situation of the entire Pollution Zone became clear in his mind.
It was indeed a vast Pollution Zone, but there weren’t many places worth exploring.
The combination of a Transparent Barrier and Abandoned Urban Areas was common within the Pollution Zone. After making a round, Noland Lee had roughly encountered the remnants of about 10 urban districts.
Beyond these districts, the sky was filled with yellow sand, and the earth was dark as Scorched Earth.
One could imagine that before the Abandoned Urban Areas became the Death Steel Soldier’s territory, each district, under the protection of the Transparent Barrier, had formed relatively independent ecosystems, isolated from the harsh environment outside.
And between the districts, they were connected by subways.
...
Unless they could find a small hole in the Transparent Barrier like Noland Lee, it was impossible for an ordinary Wizard to enter an urban district from the ground.
On his exploratory journey, Noland saw many Wizards scratching their heads outside the Transparent Barrier, blocked by the barrier that was both indestructible and crystal clear.
Furthermore, any Wizard entering the Pollution Zone would appear directly upon the Scorched Earth outside the Barrier.
Tarsali and the group of Metal Series Wizards who obeyed him must have received support from the Death Steel Legion to be able to pass through the Transparent Barrier and enter the Underground Area.
Upon reflection, Noland realized that if he wanted to stir up the situation, he must help the Wizards find a way into the underground.
The plan to forcibly break through the rock soil layer above the Underground Factory probably wouldn’t work.
Noland had gone there to check, and although there were no Death Steel Soldiers or Metal Series Wizards or Tarsali’s metal objects on the ground, about ten meters below the soil, there appeared a Transparent Barrier.
The underground Transparent Barrier perfectly wrapped the entire Underground Factory and was connected with the Barrier that protected the subway.
This was exactly as described in the deconstruction result, written by the System:
“The urban area’s Barrier is seamlessly integrated with the underground facility’s Barrier.”
The plan of violently breaking through from the ground level to the Underground Factory was not viable, so Noland turned his attention to the small holes in the urban district barriers.
Out of the 10 urban districts Noland discovered, 9 were Death Steel Legion Barracks.
The buildings in the districts were packed with cold, hard, merciless Death Steel Soldiers, which stood silently in the rooms like dolls in a display cabinet, shoulder to shoulder, crowding against each other.
A few uniquely talented Wizards found the small holes in the Transparent Barrier and penetrated them with a Flight Spell.
This group of Wizards was somewhat reckless.
They had already felt the suppression of their Spell Casting Ability by the mysterious environment outside the Barrier and assumed that the intensity of the Barrier’s environment inside wouldn’t be too different.
The moment they passed through the Barrier and touched ground, they were horrified to discover they had completely lost their ability to cast spells and couldn’t normally use Magical Items powered by Magic Energy to protect themselves.
Before they had time for regret or escape, numerous gun barrels extended from the pitch-black buildings, spewing out intense flames at them.
Burst Bullets fell like raindrops around them, triggering a series of small explosions.
In that encounter, the Wizards who commanded the winds outside the Pollution Zone met the same fate as Ordinary People. noveldrama
Once the smoke at the scene had dissipated and the ash had settled, the Wizards’ fragments were left to remain here forever.
But it didn’t end there.
As the Wizards outside the Barrier witnessed the deaths of their own kind, several platoons of Death Steel Soldiers marched out from the buildings.
Under the gaze of many Wizards, the Death Steel Soldiers fiercely scorched the remains of the Wizards with Flamethrowers, then used something like a Watering Can to suck away the Soul Fragments of the Wizards.
They obliterated evidence and recaptured Soul Energy in a smooth and practiced process.
The Death Steel Soldiers left calmly amidst the roaring of the Wizards as if they had only done a trivial little task.
Show a person once, that’s all it takes.
Having witnessed the miserable fate of their kind, the rest of the Wizards put aside any contempt for the current Pollution Zone.
In his Invisibility Status, Noland witnessed all of this.
The “Annihilation Field” within the Barrier and the Death Steel Soldiers lurking in the buildings had become the natural enemies of the Wizards.
Helping the Wizards dispel the “Annihilation Field”… the Death Steel Soldiers, whose Anti-Magic Value wasn’t high enough, probably wouldn’t be a match for the Wizards.
On this basis, luring the Death Steel Soldiers away would further alleviate some pressure on the Wizards.
In turn, clever and quick-witted Wizards should be able to locate the factories containing Anti-Demon Materials.
But how to dispel the “Annihilation Field”?
Noland suddenly thought of those several Metal Series Wizards, who were not affected by the “Annihilation Field” and could use Spells normally underground.
Their Panel Information also did not show the words “Annihilation Field.”
What allowed them to avoid the constraints?
Musing over this, Noland turned back to the Urban Area where the Root Server was.
This part of the district, apart from the Human Torches in the buildings, had no other Humanoid Species present, and the Death Steel Soldiers only came here to patrol regularly.
Was a place that even Death Steel Soldiers did not want to linger a good place?
Perhaps this so-called Root Server Urban Area was far more dangerous than the districts filled with Death Steel Soldiers, and perhaps the source of this danger was the torch-bearing humans inside the buildings.
Noland returned here with the intention of heading underground to track the Metal Series Wizards and delve deeper into their secrets.
