Chapter 1408: 465. Siege Crisis_2
Most of them displayed subtle excitement, but they masked it well and did not reveal it in front of the NPCs.
Only a few, due to their poor acting skills, couldn’t control their emotions and were questioned by the NPCs.
Fortunately, some experienced veterans were there to cover for them, saving these naïve players from getting caught.
Seeing that none of these players chose to betray their comrades to the Angel Enterprises Alliance’s “NPCs,” Noland Lee exhibited a gratified aunt-like smile.
Well done, Cucumber Slice. It seems that the mental preparation you provided for the players was quite good.
Noland Lee had specifically mentioned to Cucumber Slice about psychologically preparing the players when they plotted in secret beforehand.
...
Cucumber Slice immediately agreed, slapping his chest in assurance that he would give the players a heads-up in the chat group, to prevent them from accidentally exposing themselves in front of the Alliance’s NPCs when they received the sudden task to return to the United Bureau.
Now, it appeared that Cucumber Slice had done an excellent job.
Noland Lee silently watched Cucumber Slice and the others embark on the warship.
The Magic Vision screen shifted, and Cucumber Slice’s group followed the fleet to the vicinity of the Secondary Stargate.
This was where the Academy Faction players were gathering at the front line, with over fifty actively functioning Secondary Stargates and a multitude of rudimentary defensive facilities.
Before setting off, Cucumber Slice and others had already informed the Academy Faction players via the game’s built-in Chat System that they would be accompanying the team to attack the Secondary Stargate.
The public channel of the Chat System instantly filled with comments like “backstabber,” “Mission Impossible,” and “Mission within a Mission Impossible.”
Setting aside how the Academy Faction players evaluated Cucumber Slice’s participation in the Alliance as undercover agents, the urgent task was to thwart the Alliance’s surprise attack.
Almost at the moment the Alliance’s fleet transitioned near the Secondary Stargate, the players tasked with guarding the stargate completed their battle preparation.
They aimed all the hastily constructed turrets at the Alliance’s fleet, opening fire a second before the transition was completed.
A barrage of firepower flew towards the just-transitioned Alliance fleet but was entirely ineffective.
A barrier of laser beams, constructed jointly by thousands of Artificial Angels, lay horizontally in front of the Alliance’s fleet, blocking all incoming shots.
At the same time, the Alliance’s fleet, situated behind the laser barrier, launched a counterattack immediately.
The missiles they launched, along with laser beams and rays, passed through the Artificial Angels’ laser barrier unimpeded, while the Academy Faction players’ attacks could not make a dent in the barrier.
The situation on the battlefield became clear in the instant the two sides clashed, with the Academy Faction players quickly falling behind.
At this point, Noland Lee raised his hand to press on the Game Interface, releasing the second urgent Task he had prepared.
This Task was the second phase of “Journey of Deviation,” intended to guide Cucumber Slice and his group to cause destruction within the Alliance’s fleet.
It presented Cucumber Slice and his group with three options.
First was to ignite their own ship, using the explosion to disrupt the Alliance fleet’s offense and defense.
Second was to intercept the fleet’s Artificial Angels and destroy the laser barrier.
Third was a decapitation strike, aiming to eliminate the command team of the Alliance fleet as quickly as possible.
The first option was the simplest; blowing up their own ship would complete Cucumber Slice and his teammates’ mission. They could naturally revive within the United Bureau’s territory using the “die and return to city” method.
Options two and three were very difficult, requiring careful cooperation and fearless courage from Cucumber Slice and his companions to succeed.
Upon receiving this task, Cucumber Slice immediately started discussing it with everyone in the chat group.
After an intense and heated debate, a wildly imaginative plan was unanimously agreed upon!
Examining the three options, it wasn’t hard to see that they actually formed a whole.
Who set up the laser barrier that could block player attacks?
The answer was the Artificial Angels.
Who was commanding the Artificial Angels?
Obviously, it was the commander of the Alliance fleet.
So, what was the best way to eliminate the commander?
Heh heh!
Explode!
Explode with a vengeance!
Detonating the propulsion engines of a ship near the commander’s vessel was the best assassination method! noveldrama
See, see. The three provided options are indeed connected!
Cucumber Slice and the others immediately sprang into action.
They split into three groups; two teams flanked the commander’s ship from the left and right, while another team was responsible for preventing the Alliance’s battlefield overseers from disrupting the action.
Cucumber Slice, along with Winter Melon and Kelp, valiantly volunteered to distract the battlefield overseers for their comrades about to launch the ship explosion attack.
The rest expressed their gratitude for the heroic act and the selfless sacrifice of Cucumber Slice’s trio.
This group of over 500 players, following the principle of the faster the better, launched the attack as soon as the discussion was over without any delay.
Cucumber Slice piloted a Battleship, and aside from himself, there were three native Alliance pilots on board tasked with coordinating and supervising him.
The situation was similar for the brothers Winter Melon and Kelp, except that they were assigned to the same Battleship, giving them someone to rely on.
Through the Spell Marks placed on the three of them, Noland Lee remotely delivered Magic Scrolls.
After tearing open the Magic Scrolls, they gained power equivalent to a Five Ring Wizard and quickly eliminated the Alliance’s native pilots on their ships with magic, forcibly taking control of the ships.
