Chapter 1130

Chapter 1130: 349. To fulfill one’s duty diligently

He bent over to engrave the magical runes, striving to lure Jay Spade out as quickly as possible.

About an hour and a half later, more than a hundred mechanos, designed to act as decoys, were ready.

They were divided into ten groups, each tasked with diverting a certain Light Wizard.

Although the sea monster images created by Illusion Magic were easily exposed upon close inspection, they should serve their purpose as decoys.

After all, Noland Lee’s goal was merely to lead them away, not to use the mechanos in an ambush or the like.

While Noland Lee, Denise Green, and Nolin were checking the mechanos one by one, the Assassin Angel made a decision.

...

“Your proposal is valid, but I will not proceed in such a manner,”

said the Assassin Angel:

“If I fail to stop the Metal Ancestor Dragon’s conspiracy because I did not accept your proposal, then I would be a martyr to the order of the Supreme Star Palace, not a failed speculator.”

Noland Lee couldn’t help but hold the Assassin Angel in solemn respect.

Setting aside whether the Assassin Angel was too stubborn, inflexible, and resistant to change, the sheer loyalty to the Supreme Star Palace was enough to command Noland Lee’s admiration.

“Are the mechanos ready?” the Assassin Angel inquired.

Noland Lee glanced at the metal contraptions filling the room:

“They are ready.”

The Assassin Angel stated:

“Good, I will apply the “Veil of The World” to your mechanos, hiding their metal components so the Metal Ancestor Dragon won’t detect them.”

An invisible rhythm of energy emanated from the ring on Noland Lee’s finger, wafting towards the mechanos.

Only Noland Lee was aware of this undulation, as neither Denise nor Nolin detected its presence.

The Assassin Angel completed the enchantment on the mechanos swiftly.

Noland Lee cast Deconstruction to check.

Though the mechanos appeared unchanged to the naked eye, they now bore a status called “Veil of The World.”

As the Assassin Angel had mentioned, these mechanos still looked metallic, but they had completely lost the possibility of being detected, utilized, possessed, or altered by Metal Magic.

Noland Lee and Nolin gave a few instructions, directing their distant female assistant in the Suman Archipelago to commence the operation.

All the mechanos would be controlled by Nolin.

They would be divided into ten groups and deployed in succession, luring away the targets one by one.

At a conservative estimate, in no more than twelve hours, or by midnight today, Jay Spade would be isolated.

As for whether the team members leaving one by one would arouse Jay Spade’s suspicion,

that wasn’t a major concern.

That’s because the Assassin Angel had already placed a marker on him before he could become suspicious.

The entire placement process wouldn’t take more than half a minute.

Time rewound to over an hour ago.

At that time, the Light Wizard Team had just settled in Lamont’s residence.

“Are you certain that the sea monster didn’t lie?”

A magical curtain three centimeters thick obstructed the window, preventing the spread of sound and images from inside the room.

The Magic Lamp on the ceiling emitted bright light, illuminating every corner of the room, constantly monitoring the energy fluctuations within.

Jay Spade sat in the Study Room’s chair, his expression solemn as he examined the report on the table.

Across from his desk, Lamont, bearing some resemblance to him, stood rigid, nodding vigorously in response:

“Yes, I verified the sea monster told the absolute truth. From beginning to end, my ‘Lie Perception’ sent no alerts. Most importantly, the Spider Monk named Lophi raised no questions about the origins of the sea monster.”

A phantom floated beside Jay Spade.

A Magic Messenger, in the form of a White Dove, appeared out of thin air, placing an Envelope on his desk.

Jay Spade rubbed his fingers together and used [Mage’s Hand] to open the Envelope, unfolding the Letter Paper inside.

After carefully reading the Characters once, Jay Spade took a deep breath and said:

“It truly is the Queen’s Scepter.”

Jay Spade passed the letter forward, allowing Lamont to examine it.

A few lines came into the latter’s view.

Upon returning to the base, Lamont used Illusion Magic to create a vivid image, reenacting the encounter between Lophi and the sea monster.

In particular, the Trident in the sea monster’s hand was depicted in the image by Lamont with exacting detail.

This illusionary image was sent in triplicate to the Deep Sea Branch, Scholars’ Association, and Pure Light Court.

The Scholars’ Association replied that they could not authenticate it, as the illusionary image was, after all, just that and not the actual object.

However, the Deep Sea Branch provided a definite answer.

This answer was written on the Letter Paper.

In essence, the Deep Sea Branch had repeatedly confirmed that the Trident in the sea monster’s hand was the authentic ritual implement of the Sea Monster Queen, a symbol trusted to a confidant by the Queen.

With this, the identity of the sea monster was conclusively affirmed, causing Jay Spade’s heart to quicken.

It was a rush of excitement that quickened his heart, not nervousness or anxiety.

First, there was the clandestine connection between the sect of the sea monster and the Undead Cult, followed by the revelation that the Undead Cult had accumulated over a billion points of Soul Energy.

Both incidents, and the turmoil that would follow, promised a feast for the Pure Light Court.

For Pure Light to be employed, evil must first be allowed to arise!

This was Jay Spade’s steadfast belief.

Having ascertained the truth, Jay Spade needed only to do one thing: ensure everything proceeded smoothly.

This was the primary reason he, an Eighth Ring Light Mage, had been sent by Grand Arbitrator Paredes.
