Chapter 936: 292. Behind the Scenes_4
“Please do, both of you. We will seriously consider this challenge. Given the reputation of the Deep Sea Branch and the Pangula Family, being overly cautious cannot be a mistake.”
Lonco’s stature and aura of authority were somewhat oppressive.
Dietrich collected the scrolls and pocket items on the table in silence, following the Rock Bone Enforcer towards the Miniature Ocean.
Before leaving, he turned around, a hint of viciousness appearing in his eyes as he said with a smirk:
“The Four Islands that you’re allowing Mira Faar to mine belong to the same sorcerer, right? It seems he has quite a special relationship with Miss Selena Williams… Perhaps, I should invite him over to Pangula’s Domain for a visit.”
Lonco’s face twitched slightly, while Selena maintained her composure.
...
Dietrich’s gaze flowed over both of them and then settled on the Miniature Ocean before him.
“Splish splash…”
The Miniature Ocean moved slightly, swallowing the figures of Dietrich and the Rock Bone Enforcer.
After the two had left, Lonco touched his head, replaying Dietrich’s last words in his mind:
“Selena, am I misunderstanding something, or is that guy asking for trouble? He’s not thinking of going after Jarvis, is he? How is that any different from seeking death?”
Selena spoke coldly:
“What does that have to do with me? After all, Father doesn’t want me to have anything to do with him.”
Facing his sister’s petulance, Lonco let out a heavy sigh:
“Sigh~ Selena, Father is doing this for your own good. Jarvis may indeed be capable now, but this doesn’t mean he will still hold an advantage in the future.”
“Yes, I know,” Selena retorted sarcastically:
“Once you guys have cracked his ‘Sonic Blast’ and the spells that summon the dark clouds and thunder and lightning, he’ll naturally become useless. I shouldn’t be involved with someone like that, you and Father are right. It’s my own fault for getting entangled with him.”
Lonco covered his face with both hands:
“…Let’s not talk about this. How are you going to respond to Dietrich and ‘Larolon Rockbone’? They didn’t say it outright, but I can sense that ‘Larolon Rockbone’ also played a part in Dietrich issuing the challenge. Perhaps ‘Larolon Rockbone’ is the brain behind the Pangula Family. They want to use the challenge to figure out our capabilities.”
“Oh, poor Lonco, someone who nearly agreed to the challenge on the spot could think of so much,” said Selena with a chuckle:
“Let’s wait a few days before deciding. I need to consider it carefully. Plus, I still need to have a talk with Jarvis, if we do accept the challenge, we’ll definitely need his ore distribution map.”
“…Alright,” Lonco exhaled deeply:
“If you’re going to talk to Jarvis, then I’ll go see Father. ‘Larolon Rockbone’ taking an interest in our non-metallic ores is not good news; we have to prepare early.”
Selena glanced at the unfinished letter before her.
She was originally supposed to write Noland Lee’s conjectures, using her own voice, to relay them to her father.
It hadn’t occurred to her that the Pangula Family and ‘Larolon Rockbone’ would question them so soon.
Now, there was no need to send the letter; better to let Lonco speak with Father instead.
With a wave of her hand, Selena used a sharp water blade to tear up the letter and buried her head in her work.
Seeing that his sister was unwilling to engage with him, Lonco gave a nod and dived into the Miniature Ocean.
After he left, Selena put down her pen, a smile curling at the corners of her mouth.
In her mind, she asked:
“Jarvis, are you still there?”
“I am,” Noland’s voice echoed in her mind: noveldrama
“You performed exceptionally well just now, Selena, perfectly conveying my message to Dietrich and the others. I estimate that even if we hadn’t used ‘Mind Induction’ before, you would’ve been able to handle the situation very well.”
Flattered by Noland’s praises, Selena’s cheeks flushed with delight:
“So what do we do now?”
“No rush,” Noland said calmly:
“Let’s keep ‘Larolon Rockbone’ and the Pangula Family hanging for now. When they become impatient, they will naturally show their weaknesses.”
“Okay,” Selena nodded, pausing for a half-second before asking:
“Hmm… Should we get in touch with the ‘Pillar of Ley Lines’? If we sacrifice some ore production to bring the ‘Pillar of Ley Lines’ into our camp, dealing with ‘Larolon Rockbone’ and the Pangula Family will be a lot smoother.”
“Let’s not think about that for now,” Noland replied:
“You should pay more attention to your father’s opinion. If he agrees to Dietrich’s challenge, then all our planning will be for naught.”
Selena tapped her chin thoughtfully, furrowing her brow:
“Yes, you’re right. Sigh, Father will definitely intervene in this matter.”
