Chapter 1332: 434.GM online_2
Being kicked offline and forced to delete an account is also a kind of character reset, right?
Noland Lee hadn’t lied; he just hadn’t revealed everything.
At this moment, IQ was fully online, and from Noland’s words, Cucumber Slice discerned an extraordinary implication:
“Do you mean you didn’t provide them with two options?”
“Yes, we didn’t invite them to assist us in handling the severe BUG,” Noland replied.
Cucumber Slice thoughtfully asked:
...
“Then why did you invite me?”
“That’s mainly for two reasons,” Noland explained:
“First, after investigating, we determined that solving this severe BUG required player cooperation. Since the BUG itself involves a game scandal, the negative impact is undesirable, so the player assisting us must strictly keep it secret. This required us to meticulously select from among the players who encountered the BUG.
“Second, we know you well, understand your achievements in the gaming industry, and are aware of your character. All aspects about you meet our requirements. Hence, we provided you with a second option by inviting you to assist us in handling the BUG.”
Cucumber Slice’s heartbeat quickened.
Cooperating in bug fixing would surely lead deep into the game’s logic layer and even to secretive things like the game’s servers and design drafts.
For a fervent game explorer, what are hidden tasks and settings compared to directly facing the game’s underlying logic and design drafts?
This was like others still pondering in meditation over riddles while you directly ask the creator for the answers.
Such a unique encounter would captivate any player.
But…
Upon further thought.
Cucumber Slice hesitated again.
“I also have my own studio to run in reality, so I might not have much time to cooperate with you…”
This wasn’t Cucumber Slice bargaining but sometimes truly being too busy to escape.
Noland said:
“You don’t need to worry about that. The so-called cooperation in handling the severe BUG won’t take up much of your time. You just need to work and play games as usual.”
“Huh? It’s that simple?” Cucumber Slice was startled.
“Yes, it’s that simple.” Noland rubbed his fingers and used soul magic to create a soul contract, presenting it in the usual form of a paper document before Cucumber Slice, while saying:
“I have two things to say upfront. After you choose to assist in handling the severe BUG, you must keep it strictly confidential, that’s one. Second, we will monitor your gaming data in real-time in the background, which requires your permission, to avoid subsequent disputes.”
The soul contract book floated before Cucumber Slice, its content consistent with what Noland had spoken.
Cucumber Slice read through it quickly and didn’t see any issue.
Well, of course there were no issues.
Cucumber Slice, an Ordinary Person who hadn’t even learned magic, would only think this was a document signed within the game; how could he know it was actually a soul contract book?
Once Cucumber Slice signed this soul contract book, Noland would legitimately penetrate into Players’ “Reality” worlds through his soul.
Such actions resembled those of the Dark Divine Cult, all involving infiltration of the “Reality” World.
But, what Noland did was legitimate.
While introducing the two options to Cucumber Slice, he was also communicating with the Plane’s Core behind the Starry Sea Game.
The Core, through the game interface, gave Noland a confirming response.
‘Command’ the Plane’s Core permitted Noland to use soul magic to infiltrate Players’ “Reality” worlds to help clear out the corrupting forces of the Dark Divine Cult.
Logically, this led to the soul contract now appearing before Cucumber Slice.
Noland, watching Cucumber Slice read the document, said:
“After you sign this agreement, I will explain in detail the origin of the severe BUG and why you logged in mysteriously just now, as well as what’s up with that half-body figure dressed in Dark Divine Cult attire.”
Recalling his previous experiences, confusion surged again in Cucumber Slice’s mind:
“Right, how did I login? Wasn’t I asleep in the Conference Room?”
Thinking this, Cucumber Slice realized the severity of the BUG; it was capable of logging him in without his Game Helmet.
Cucumber Slice involuntarily fell into a perplexed state.
After about ten seconds, without any clue, he looked again at the agreement in his hand.
“I’ll sign.”
Cucumber Slice nodded firmly.
Noland produced a pen and placed it before Cucumber Slice: noveldrama
“Sign right here.”
“Ah? Right here?” Cucumber Slice was momentarily disoriented:
“Can agreements signed in the game take effect?
“Oh, you can rest assured. Though it’s just the two of us here in the game, there are lots of people watching from outside,” Noland said with a light tone.
Upon hearing this, Cucumber Slice mentally pictured himself and another being observed by executives from the game company or similar individuals outside the game.
With the technical prowess shown by the Starry Sea Game, having people inside the game observed from outside was not difficult.
In other words, as long as executives from the game company were watching, an agreement could be signed anywhere.
Cucumber Slice took the pen and wrote his real name on the agreement.
With this, the soul contract was established.
The agreement split into two, entering into their minds separately.
