Chapter 968: 301. Avoid tragedy_2
“It’s unimaginable… This defies common sense.”
“Is this the unique aspect of wild magic? It’s truly beyond belief…”
“Be quiet!” Jay Spade said loudly.
The Light Wizards hushed their discussions, and the Grand Hall fell silent, with only the faint flashes of thunder reverberating.
“Continue the test,” Jay Spade ordered.
“Yes, sir,” everyone responded.
...
“Crackle..”
“Crackle..”
Again, several bolts of lightning struck the Magic Target.
With each strike, the magic characters that condensed onto the target became more astounding than the last.
20 million points of thunder and lightning energy power.
30 million points.
40 million points.
Every spell was cast by Jay Spade, who had never studied lightning magic.
Each time, he succeeded.
When the thunder and lightning energy in the dark clouds was exhausted, he had his Light Wizards infuse it with thunder and lightning energy again.
“Crackle… Crackle… Crackle…”
The lightning bolts fired by Jay Spade grew more powerful with each cast.
No matter how great the power, there was no sign of Jay Spade failing in his casting.
This was truly inconceivable!
Jay Spade was a Light Wizard, not a Thunder Wizard!
Even with the Golden Halo to seal the dark clouds, he shouldn’t have been able to cast high-powered lightning magic so effortlessly…
The observing Light Wizards could find no words to express their astonishment at the mystery of wild magic.
Jay Spade himself was somewhat frightened.
He was the only spellcaster on the scene.
Only he knew how effortless it all was.
He just needed to infuse the dark clouds with thunder and lightning energy and then give the Golden Halo an order to fire lightning, and he could indirectly control the dark clouds to discharge lightning.
He began to suspect that any Five Rings or Sixth ring Light Wizard could, using the same method, cast high-powered lightning.
Even a First Rank Wizard might manage it, Jay Spade thought absurdly.
This was a magic experiment that could be called a disruption of common knowledge.
Before he knew wild magic, he had always believed that only by mastering stronger Spell Blueprints and advancing to a higher ring level could he cast more powerful spells.
Now, that belief was mercilessly crushed.
Before his eyes was a form of wild magic that only required the infusion of more energy to generate greater power.
This phenomenon of more input leading to more output was very common in the Natural World but didn’t apply to Local Magic.
No Pure Light spell could increase its power by simply adding more energy.
Ordinary Wizards had to diligently practice the Meditation Method and pass round after round of examination to advance to a High Ring Level and master more formidable magic.
But look at the dark cloud before them, a magical creation of wild magic, so peculiar, perfectly aligning with the natural law that more input leads to more output.
Jay Spade was bewildered.
What should ultimately determine the power of magic? noveldrama
Is it the Meditation Method and the status of one’s position, the superiority or inferiority of the blueprint, or the abundance or scarcity of magical energy…
Obscure and dark thoughts began to grow in the minds of the Light Wizards.
If one day, they too could master this “more input for greater power” wild magic, could they challenge the authority of the High Ring Level Light Wizards?
No longer constrained by rules and levels, they could leverage wild magic to forcibly seize everything they desired.
Many gazes fell upon Paredes on the High Platform, filled with fantasy, scrutiny, judgment, and complex implications.
Without a doubt, the special nature of wild magic fueled the deep-seated desire of the people to challenge authority beyond their current standing.
The “rebellious gene” hidden in human nature was stirring.
Paredes’s voice spread throughout the venue:
“Magic is the staff of abstainers, the butcher knife of slayers. Law of Pure Light, Volume Three, Article 34, ‘Be mindful of the blade in your hand and the companions at your side, betrayal from either will result in a tragedy’.”
The Light Wizards beneath the platform sheepishly lowered their heads.
The sweep of wild magic that had begun dissipated like smoke clearing.
“We have come together in the name of Pure Light, having overcome the mean and sordid in humanity. Let’s not allow savage magic to corrode our hearts, to shake our faith… Praise Pure Light,” Paredes said gently.
“Praise Pure Light,” the Light Wizards on the floor responded in unison.
Paredes leaned forward to look at Jay Spade:
“Continue the test, with a limit of 1 billion points of thunder and lightning energy for each casting.”
“Yes, sir,” Jay Spade replied, squelching the thoughts he dared not entertain any longer, his tone utterly respectful.
Thunder lit up the Grand Hall once more, and lightning, like a giant serpent, roamed ceaselessly, shining on the gold-leafed walls in a way that moved the spirit.
While everyone’s attention was focused on the Magic Target, only Paredes on the High Platform was looking at the inconspicuous Silver candlestick on the wall.
The candlestick had an elegant design, with silver radiance shimmering, completely silver-white.
Paredes gazed at it, his lips trembling slightly as if communicating covertly with an unknown entity.
After about half an hour, several rounds of perilous lightning testing came to an end.
Jay Spade had cast a total of 200 lightning bolts.
The lowest power of the lightning was 10 million points of thunder and lightning energy, and the highest was 1 billion points.
The Magic Target, repeatedly ravaged by violent lightning, was almost wrecked but narrowly withstood the 1 billion point onslaught of thunder and lightning energy.
The Light Wizards wholeheartedly accepted the performance of wild magic.
