Chapter 1049: 327. Broken Descendants
All of mankind’s shackles of fate were broken?
What kind of world would that be?
Would all of humanity no longer experience death, aging, sickness, disasters, and pain?
Wouldn’t that mean everyone had ascended?
Omar Goddard told Noland Lee, it wasn’t like that.
The so-called shackles of fate refer to the inevitabilities in an individual’s life.
...
Without the shackles of fate, these events could still happen; it’s just that the probability would decrease from 100% to some random value.
At this moment, Noland Lee bore five shackles of fate, ensuring that at a certain moment in the future, he would inevitably face a situation of certain death.
Omar Goddard promised to help Noland Lee break the “death” shackle of fate, not to help him become an “immortal” being, but to help him avoid his deadly situation.
As for when this “deadly situation” would occur, and who would kill Noland Lee, neither Omar Goddard nor the Assassin Angel could know.
Only the White Ancestral Dragon, the being that laid the shackles of fate and hid within the Spinning Continent, knew the deadly situation it had set for Noland Lee.
Upon hearing this, Noland Lee seemed to understand.
Aren’t the shackles of fate just “catastrophes”?
And the White Ancestral Dragon manipulating destiny from the shadows, isn’t it equivalent to an existence like “Heaven’s Will”…
Breaking the shackles of fate is the same as “passing the catastrophe.”
Successful passage means ascension.
In other words, if there were no shackles of fate, there would be no catastrophe.
Without a catastrophe, there can be no passing, and ascension would be impossible.
If the White Ancestral Dragon were to die, the people in this world could indeed avoid their individual catastrophes, but they would also lose the opportunity to advance.
But after breaking the shackles of fate, what could one advance to?
Noland Lee frowned in deep contemplation.
In modern magic textbooks, the term “shackles of fate” had never appeared, nor was there any related introduction.
The magic teaching materials only mentioned that a wizard should ascend through the path of “Wizard Apprentice – Formal Wizard – High-level Wizard – Saint Tier Wizard – Star-level Wizard.”
The only thing that might be related to the shackles of fate was probably the process of ascending from Saint Tier to Star-level.
Omar Goddard analyzed a bit:
To ascend in the Mass Wizard Tombs, wizards have to abandon their physical bodies, which is akin to welcoming their own death and directly confronting their ‘death’ shackle.
Upon further reflection, Noland Lee realized that it appeared not only Star Witches could break the “death” shackle.
Benjamin Jelani and Clint “Windhawk”, those two Transcendent-level Wizards residing in the Sub-Dimensional Plane, their Magic Avatars are “False Eternal Beings” that are immune to “death.”
Could this be a manifestation of having broken the “death” shackle?
Noland Lee posed this question to Omar Goddard.
The latter, needing something from Noland Lee, answered every question.
But Omar Goddard’s response was ambiguous:
“That can be considered a form of breaking the ‘death’ shackle, but it’s not a complete break.”
Omar Goddard explained patiently:
“When a human being enters the Sub-Dimensional Plane from the Natural World, the five shackles of fate on them temporarily lose effect. As long as they remain in the Sub-Dimensional Plane, the shackles of fate will continue to be ineffective. This is a way to circumvent the shackles of fate.
“However, this method is not very stable.
“Because when the forces of destiny from the Natural World infiltrate the Sub-Dimensional Plane, the shackles of fate will gradually revive invisibly. If one cannot prevent the infiltration of the forces of destiny, even in the Sub-Dimensional Plane, they cannot escape their fate.”
Noland Lee nodded slightly and asked,
“How do you prevent the infiltration of destiny’s forces then?”
Omar Goddard said,
“First, eradicate all character records of oneself in the Natural World, cutting off most traces that can lead to oneself. noveldrama
“Second, do not personally enter the Natural World. Only send Magic Avatars.”
Noland Lee raised his eyebrows upon hearing this.
This fit perfectly.
Benjamin Jelani and Clint “Windhawk” had done just that!
So, Transcendent-level Wizards like them had already detected the existence of the White Ancestral Dragon and destiny.
Accurately speaking, all Transcendent Wizards who secluded themselves and retreated into the Sub-Dimensional Plane were trying their best to avoid their own shackles of fate.
“…I have something I can’t figure out,” Noland Lee said, touching his forehead:
“If ascending to become a Star Witch legitimately breaks the ‘death’ shackle, then why would Transcendent Wizards choose to flee into the Sub-Dimensional Plane?”
“Because breaking any shackle of destiny comes at a price,” Omar Goddard said:
“I’m not quite clear on the process of a Saint Tier Wizard ascending to Star-level, but it seems that this method of breaking the ‘death’ shackle must be based on some deep soul contract.
“Those Star Witches indeed gained the benefit of breaking the ‘death’ shackle, but they definitely paid a price for it. That price might be a command from the White Ancestral Dragon, or something else, like the heart, loyalty, submission, enslavement, and so on.”
Noland Lee’s expression changed slightly, realizing Omar Goddard’s point was not without reason.
If the process of ascending to Star Witch in the Mass Wizard Tombs were completely harmless, then Transcendent Wizards wouldn’t be hiding in the Sub-Dimensional Plane.
Additionally, Denise Green’s Lecturer Professor “Lamp of Resurrection” wouldn’t have repeatedly refused the Mass Wizard Tombs’ invitation to ascend to Star Witch.
“What do you think, Kindhearted Wizard, are you satisfied with the information I provided?”
Omar Goddard said to Noland Lee, who fell into silence:
“I will help you break the ‘death’ shackle. This is a true breaking, not like those Transcendent Wizards who use the Sub-Dimensional Plane to evade the power of the shackles of fate.
