V3 Chapter 63

They’re here!

Countless air cutting noises immediately resounded, and in a blink of an eye, green-colored figures flashed and pounced at their location.

Cian jumped back, along with Regina who immediately invoked her concealment ability, and disappeared in thin air. She was not the type who fought battles head-on, instead, she was one that resides within the shadows. An Assassin.

Incredible stealth.

Cian could help but smile in appreciation when he saw this. If not for his Night’s Eye, he might not even able to find her. That’s how incredible her concealment was.

He knows that she has his back, and so, he was able to turn all his attention to the beasts that were now surrounding him.

Wolves…

To be more exact, Wind Wolves!

Looking at the two-meter tall creatures with green fur that had appeared in front of him, Cian’s eyes narrowed in danger.

Giant wolves with beautiful green fur could be seen in front of him. Not one, but four, five, and still increasing in number as they come out from the overgrown bush.

Looking at how big the pack was, it was safe to assume that this region was their territory.

The entire place is literally littered with Wind Wolves. And some can even hardly be seen since they completely blend in the surroundings with their green fur, almost looking like a bush and plants. If they were just normal adventurers, they would have surely been eaten by now- dying not knowing what had happened.

Seeing their ambush failed, the wolves angrily turned around, countless pairs of eyes releasing a fierce glow staring at him, and then charging at him with a savage air.

It seems like the wolves usually killed their prey, or at least, injured them fatally at their first attack as one can see the intense annoyance and anger flashing on their eyes from their failed attack.

They look at Cian as if being humiliated and snarled menacingly.

“This could be fun,”

Cian smirked in contempt.

Greedy wolves…

Wooosh.

The Wind Wolves moved.

The wolves' speed was clearly faster than any monsters he had seen up until now in this Ruins of Gods, not even getting close, an air of brutality already rushing forward.

They move like a gust of wind, fast and fierce, like swirling wind amidst the storm. In fact, when they move together, running around the trees, creating gusts with their speed, is like a storm brewing.

Wind blades started shooting towards him from all directions, sharp enough that it even cuts the trees it passed through.

Cian rotated his body, spinning with flames on his hand. Then, the flames spread out in a spherical form, and like a shockwave, clashing against the wind blades. Sparks appeared the moment they clashed, and the trees and plants in the area were blown away.

Still, the Wind Wolves was running around him, seemly looking for any chances of attack.

“You're wasting my time! Come at me, you mongrels! I’ll skin you alive!”

Annoyed, Cian opened his mouth and used [Provoking Roar] to taunt them.

And it succeeded.

Immediately after, the running wolves suddenly stop, and with red eyes, they turned towards him.

As if bewitched, they started running towards him with renewed rage.

Wind Wolves are one of the most troublesome monsters you can find. Not only they appeared in a group, large groups to be exact, they were also smart and cunning beasts.

Hunting preys are already engraved in their instinct. They would often take advantage of their speed and number and would run around looking for an opportunity to attack, like monsters who would just clash head-on. They would exhaust their prey, before pouncing on them together.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

But that wouldn’t work against him.

Cian has [Provoking Roar]. A skill that enables him to taunt monsters to attack him together, and with weakened strength. Though it barely affects intelligent beings, but to beasts who only moves in instinct, it’s a very effective skill.

The wind wolves scampered towards him as if he was a delicious piece of steak.

When one of the leading wolves got closer to him, the wolf’s speed suddenly exploded, viciously pouncing at his chest.

Fwoosh!!

Following the slight twist of his body, a violent wind blew past his face, making part of his face slightly sting.

Cian squinted his eyes, his right foot that stepped backward when he twisted his body taking a large step forward, the [Imagis Realis] immediately wriggled, and turning into a long sword plainly thrusting forward, continuously piercing the wolf twice.

Blood spluttered.

A long gush wound could be seen on the wolf’s body, but it didn’t die yet.

The vitality of the Wind wolves was much better than most beasts in the forest.

The attacked wolf let out a pained howl, quickly turning around, but it did not attack again, instead, it raised its head, letting out a deep howl. Immediately after, wind seemed to have gathered into a sphere, and with the size of a basketball, shot towards his direction.

Cian snorted and with a casual step in the wind, he activated [Wind Walk] and easily evaded the incoming wind blast. He looks as if he was walking in the air, as he treads through the passing breeze.

Howls continued to echo in the glomy forest.

Many and many more wind wolves appeared in the area, and all of them turned at him. Not only they can use Wind Magic, but they are also as fast and swift as the wind, and fierce as the storm.

Their claws and fangs can tear metal like paper, and their wind blast is like a terrible tornado. Truly, they are strong and powerful monsters. Not to mention, they attack in large numbers.

Cian jumps into a group of gathered wolves, planning to as efficiently as possible utilize his full strength by killing his enemies with little power. That’s also why he had used [Provoking Roar] to attack him together, as it would be troublesome if they scatter and exhaust him.

Though, exhausting him is indeed impossible, since his Mana and Health recovery is twice the normal as a Demon, and was then even boosted by the integration of the Heavenly Fox , making it faster by three-fold.

As long as he wouldn’t use magic like an open faucet, there’s no way his recovery would not be able to follow.

With how gathered the monsters were, he has the confidence of killing more than one with one attack.

He spread his arms, and lightning sparks crackled around him.

Booom!

The area exploded as a massive thunderbolt struck from the sky.

Two of the Wind Wolves felt in the ground scorched black and dead, while a few of the monsters were slightly wounded. The outcome caused the beasts to start feeling the seriousness of the situation and become wary. If they would retreat, he would not chase.

That’s what he thought.

Killing them would give him no benefits, as he only needs a few corpses to plunder. A dozen of them would be just a waste of space in his storage rings. Much less, constantly eating wolves would be a bore.

However, them retreating would be a miracle, as the Windwolves know no retreat unless the leader of their pack commands it.

After a few moments of hesitation, once again, as expected, the wind wolves charged toward him.

The wolves running in the front bared their fangs and raised their claws aiming for his life.

Cian snorted. When they pounced at him, he disappeared. Appearing again behind the group of wolves, he used [Stomp of the Behemoth], stomping a wolf to death, and turned, slicing with his black sword, the legs of the wolves on the right and left side. Then, without breaking even a moment, he lunged to the nearest wolf.

Wooosh.

At this moment, Regina appeared behind him, attacking the wolves that tried to attack him from behind.

With her dagger in hand, she leaped towards one of the largest wolves and stabbed at the center of its back.

Stabbing two times in an instant, she then kicked the wolf before once again disappearing.

Her movement was so fast that she was able to do those attacks in just a single second before disappearing.

Cian can’t help but reckon that without the [Eye of Night], he might not be able to follow her at all. Her concealment and speed are top-notch, not to mention, her own physical strength is superhuman as well.

Whether she was taught by an incredible assassin master, or she was just that gifted- a natural prodigy in the art of assassination, nevertheless, she was truly talented. She even knows when and where to appear, taking advantage of the battlefield and situation.

Back in Earth, Cian was a well-known shadow.

But perhaps, in this world, he can give that title to her?

Cian didn’t have any intention of returning to being a shadow in this world. After all, he was destined to take the limelight, unlike back in Earth where his sister existed. Because his sister was the one who takes the light, he took on the shadow to protect her.

But in this world, as Aanuel, being in the spotlight is inevitable.

If I can train Regina to her full potential, perhaps, I can make her into my shadow?

Cian couldn’t help but have such a thought.

Though he wanted it, he can only set that aside for now.

Regina’s status is still undefined. Though she had already submitted to him, there are still many factors that might turn her blade at him. Before he can mold her into his shadow, he still needs to ascertain her loyalty. And he would surely shape her into that ideal existence.

A shadow can only be a good shadow if he has absolute loyalty to the light. So that, the brightest the light becomes, the darkest the shadow becomes as well. And thus, she will be perfect.

The moment Regina disappeared, Cian then turned around and followed the girl’s attack by casting a lightning bolt.

The spell connected and blasted the Wind Wolf’s body, killing it in the process.

“Now then…since you insist, stay here forever,”

Cian muttered as he swung his black sword on the side, swinging the blood out of the blade.

“Here I come,”

… …
