V2 Chapter 141

Due to Cian’s tragedy, the battle became tenser.

The members of the Flame Tyrant Clan made the Dragon Serpent and the beasts around them busy. Although Dave wanted to chase Cian to save him, however, he cannot leave the battlefield as his companions were depending on him. He could only grit his teeth and throw aside his worries as he concentrates on supporting Paryel and the others and giving boost and recovery.

As Paryel ran he left behind a red and yellow glow behind him.

When the Dragon Serpent moved to target Paryel, it was blocked by Bramble, with its crazy momentum, it places the Dragon Serpent in place. And when was stalled down by Bramble, it was slammed with magic and arrows from Laran and Aerean.

The members of the Flame Tyrant Clan cooperated accurately damaging the Red Crown Dragon Serpent. When they saw it prepare a dangerous attack with its tail, everyone moved away, with that timing Laran unleashed his fire magic. Paryel taunted it, Bramble shattered its scales from the flank by using his large machete, Dave sent out timely boosts and defense barriers and Aerean aimed for weaknesses to get critical hits.

When everyone switched to avoiding attacks Laran attacked with fire magic. With a stable formation, they continued to deal damage to the monsters as well as the Red Crown Dragon Serpent.

However—it didn’t last long.

"I’m out of Mana here! Vanguard endure!"

Laran ran out of Mana due to him almost single-handedly stalling the beasts surrounding them as the others tried to kill the Red Crown Dragon Serpent first. Dave’s mana was also running out because he has been continuously casting double boosts, strengthening and recovery magic.

From here on, Aerean will support the frontline until mages recover their mana. Even though that should be normal, however, Aerean was almost out of mana as well and felt insecure. She could only strive to maintain the minimum. Instead, of magic arrows, she grabbed her quiver and started to return to normal arrows while waiting for her mana to recover.

As for Dave, with the rest of the magic power he could use, he switched the two vanguard's buffs into defense ones. Rather than putting an emphasis on attack, this is where the goal changes to surviving on the frontline.

“Endure until the Captain returns!” he shouted.

Laran resorted into small magic fireballs.

Even though sometimes it was critical, all the vanguards managed to maintain their positions.

And to try keeping it up, every member was consuming potions en-masse. However, most of those they had were just middle-level recovery potion and the rest were low-level potions, there are still limits. High-level potions are extremely expensive and very rare. In the entire Icegrass City, only less than ten high-level potions could be found.

"Come on! Fall again!"

"Stop it, Bramble. It's different from before."

As Paryel’s panic voice resounded, Bramble already jumped in front of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent. He raised his glowing machete, sunk low and finished it by slashing it downwards. He took an effort to take it down, but it failed. The minimum of buffs was maintained on him, although he could immediately withdraw if there was a speed boost, right now he only had a defense. He didn't have enough speed to dodge.

The Red Crown Dragon Serpent’s massive tail hit Bramble’s belly, delaying his escape.

"Dodge it!"

Aerean’s voice sounded as she was in a position to overlook it all. However, it was too late. The Serpent’s tail already coiled around Bramble’s legs while he was still in the air and swung him down vertically. Even with a sturdy physique like Bramble was smashed like nail pounded by a hammer. Paryel let out a roar, and he hurriedly stood between Bramble and the monstrous serpent in a hurry to change its target.

"Hurry into the back and recover!"

“… …”

"Hey move, he fainted damn! What bad timing!"

However, the Red Crown Dragon Serpent’s attack was completely powerful, Bramble lost his consciousness. In fact, him not dying was already a miracle enough. It can be said that his physique as a bearman help him save his life. But a second attack would surely send him to King Yama directly.

Paryel couldn't cover Bramble, and it was impossible for the two mages; Laran and Dave—even if they wore armor, they don’t have strengthening skills and they would be flattened like dough if they came over. They weren't supposed to go in front in the first place. The one who should move now is Aerean.

Without hesitation, Aerean jumped from the tree and rushed towards Bramble’s direction. As Paryel keep the Dragon Serpent in finishing what it started, Aerean enchanted herself with strengthening magic and hurriedly drag Bramble before the beast was able to reach him first. Her speed was indeed fast!

“We cannot keep up with this any longer!” Laran gnashed his teeth and cried out in anxiety!

A Red Crown Dragon Serpent is already enough for them to keep busy. And now, with a horde of beast surrounded them, they were already pushed back in a corner.

Just when everyone had fallen into despair, the sound of soft footsteps rang out. A figure slowly stepped out from the thick bushes and walked in the direction of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent. Aerean’s eyes widened in incredulity as she watched the familiar young man slowly walking forward.

"What is he doing?!" Aerean was filled with bewilderment.

Why did he stepping forward at such a moment?

Was he seeking his own death?

The other noticed Cian’s appearance as well and they turned towards him in shock. Did he go insane?! Ignoring their reactions, a cold smile appeared on Cian’s lips as he looked at the Red Crown Dragon Serpent. His black eyes slowly turned into that of varied colors; Blue and Red, like jewels giving off a beautiful gleam in the dark.

As Cian held his familiar pitch-black sword, his walking pace slowly changed into a jog. Then, his speed gradually became faster and he started sprinting.

“Wait!”

“What are you doing?!!”

“Come back! Are you insane?!”

The others started to cry out anxiously. However, Cian ignored them and rushed like a madman towards the Red Crown Dragon Serpent.

"Leave!" Cian left those words as he rushed towards the Red Crown Dragon Serpent.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

"Has he gone mad?"

Everyone was staring at the indifferent and calm figure charging straight toward the Red Crown Dragon Serpent, with blank expressions on their faces. Was he going to oppose the Red Crown Dragon Serpent with his own strength? That is a monster that is completely close to becoming an A rank Monster!

Even Levelia who was a true Red Ranker, a true and bonafide B Rank Adventurer would feel despair in front of it. Much less, Cian who was just a Blue Rank, two levels lower than Levelia.

Just what is he doing…?!

That was simply deranged and foolhardy!

That was the thought on everyone's mind at the moment. If Cian was a Red Ranker, they might consider his behavior as worthy of praise. Brave, Courageous. However, Cian was merely a Blue Ranker. From their point of view, his current behavior was simply stupid beyond belief!

A Blue Ranker was simply a feeble ant before the Red Crown Dragon Serpent that can even slaughter two Red Rankers with ease. Perhaps with a single swipe of its tail, this young man would be turned into dust!

Aerean let out a sigh and helplessly shook her head. She originally admired Cian because he was a true capable Adventurer, and despite his mysteriousness and noble-like demeanor, he didn’t like the usual nobles do. Such a youth was hard to find even within the Glorious Elven Tribes. However, even though this young man's character and skills were pretty good… his intelligence was worrying.

Why was he courting death by charging toward the Red Crown Dragon Serpent alone?

Even if he really wanted to save them, he should first assess his own capability. Attempting to achieve something that exceeded one's capability was no better than committing suicide.

The Magicians, Laran, and Dave were bewildered as well. Before they could even react, Cian had already charged toward the Red Crown Dragon Serpent. When they finally realized the situation, it was already too late for them to stop Cian.

Is this man an idiot…?!

Did he have enough of his life?

Paryel was stunned for a moment and then his eyes ignited with boiling hot fervor!

"Damn it! This friend has the guts to charge out there even though he's only a Blue Ranker! How could a White Ranker like me cower inside this place?! I will not allow this!"

Paryel let out an angry roar and swung sword intending to rush over. He was planning to follow suit as well. However, before he could even get far, he was struck in the face by Aerean’s fist.

"Stop right there, idiot! Go stand at the back! What do you think you're doing?! Do you think it's the time for you to behave recklessly?!" She angrily shouted. Paryel’s complexion immediately turned ashen pale from fright. He lowered his head and went back to his original position.

However, his eyes were still filled with frustration. When he looked toward Cian, his gaze was already filled with reverence.

The role model of our generation!

He shall be honored even in death!

“What are you all doing?! Clear the area first, and breakthrough!”

“Captain?!”

As the others were watching Cian’s reckless action, Levelia appeared from the bushes and started attacking the beasts that surrounded the area. “Cian, he…”

“Captain! We should stop, or at least support Cian!”

They turned at Levelia. They know Levelia’s unyielding and honorable character, and that she would never leave a companion behind. Even if it was a stranger who had just joined them. She would risk her own life just to protect her friends. However, contrary to their expectations, Levelia shook her head.

“He has his own plans! For now, we can’t stay in this place and move on! We will be even get surrounded by beasts. Treat Bramble and clear the Monsters and prepare to breakthrough!”

Levelia gave out her orders. Actually, she too didn’t know what Cian was doing. However, Cian insisted to do this, saying he has his plan. Thoroughly reluctant and against the idea, however, Levelia knows that as long as the Red Crown Dragon Serpent was in the vicinity, they would not be able to completely focused on the monster horde, and they would be killed not long later. The Dragon Serpent must be dealt with first if not—sending it to somewhere else is necessary.

‘I don’t want to die…and I’m best at not dying! You don’t need to worry about me, I have my own discretions, and I’m afraid of death of more than anyone else in the world. No matter what happens, I’ll come back…even if it means, crawling back to you…!’

Those are the words that keep her emotions at bay. She was a veteran… a warrior that had lived through many tribulations and death encounters…what kind of fate he had not seen? She must not cower…

Cian is doing everything he could to save them, she cannot disappoint his expectations—filling her mind with those words, Levelia gritted her teeth with moistened eyes, and started slaughtering the monsters around her with her spears.

Cian… you cannot die!

The others seemed to feel Levelia’s chagrin that they shut their mouth and followed her lead, their emotions going up and down like riding a roller coaster. They all shared the same thought and conclusion—Cian decided to sacrifice his life just to save them. Their hearts bleed in regret and helplessness, at the same time feeling touched. They had been with him for a short while; however, he never disappointed them, and even saved them a couple of times. But now…

He was a Hero…

He was a true Hero…!

Cian didn’t know that his position in the hearts of the Flame Tyrant Clan had been raised in the highest pedestal as he confronted the red Crown Dragon Serpent. Save them? As if. Cian might save and protect Levelia, but that is because she has a place in his heart...well, future plan, actually. However, he still regarded Levelia as his own.

But to her companions, even if they die in front of him, he wouldn’t bat an eyelid. All he wanted was to face the Dragon Serpent without any disturbance. In front of the group, he would not be able to fight in full strength, and also there’s a high chance that his real identity would be exposed, or Dave would once again make things extremely awkward by trying to help him!

Cian sailed through the air like an arrow seeking to pierce through everything.

Suddenly, the pupils of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent constricted.

Within its field of vision, an ant-like human was actually heading straight in its direction.

The aura of the human was so weak… that it did not even have the slightest interest to deal with him.

"Is this human stupid? The humans from earlier were very powerful but they still nearly died. The aura of this human is clearly much weaker… Is he coming here to die?"

This was the actual inner thoughts of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent at the moment. Although he was a beast, due to his many evolutions that made it reached the boundary of A rank Beasts, its intelligence was far above normal monsters. And when it breaks through the A rank beast, it will surely awaken his Dragon Blood and his intelligence will soar, becoming that of normal humans.

While Cian was charging toward the Red Crown Dragon Serpent, the energy inside his body was slowly circulating. As the true energy seethed within his body, it filled his limbs and his aura reached its peak. Cian flashed, and the black sword in his hand slashed down like lightning.

Claang! As expected of the body of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent though, its entire body was as if made out of metal, it was so hard. However, when the Red Crown Dragon Serpent displayed a mocking gaze into the ant that tried to cut its scales, suddenly its eyes widened in shock—on its beautiful ruby-like scales, a large gush, probably a meter or two, could be seen and blue colored blood spurted out like a fountain from it.

Impossible…!!

If the Red Crown Dragon Serpent has enough intelligence to speak, it would surely cry out in shock. Just what the hell happened?! Why did it receive a wound? Its prided scales that was as strong as metal, and can block even a magical weapon with ease, was actually pierced through?!

How is this possible?!

At this moment, in front of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent stared at Cian in doubt and horror. Cian on the other hand, smirks in an icy cold smile. Do you think your scale is untouchable? Then, think again! In front of my [Imagis Realis], everything can be cut!

However, Cian didn’t attack once again, facing the Red Crown Dragon Serpent, he raised his hand and showed a middle finger at it.

“Fuck you, bitch!” Then, like a rocket, he runs towards the thick forest.

ROOOOOOOOAAAAARRRR—!!!

The Red Crown Dragon Serpent didn’t know what that finger meant but it realized that Cian was mocking it. Coupled with the humiliating wound on its body that had hurt its prided scales, the monster snake let out a roar of anger and hurriedly chased after Cian. Its red eyes blazed in fury—I’ll kill you, inferior HUMANNN!!!

Cian grinned. A purple blob of water came crashing at his direction—[Poison Spit], but Cian easily managed to dodge most of them.

As for those he can, hmph, with his Absolute Defense using his [Vector Body], even a drop of water cannot hit him. It’s as if there was a protective membrane around him that easily isolated him from anything that tried to touch him, even the branches of the trees and plants stopped a few inches away from his skin without touching him.

While running, Cian touched a tree and then it burst into pieces. When it showered around him, Cian swung his hand at it, and the moment pieces of wooden chips touched his palm, they flew out like bullets towards the Red Crown Dragon Serpent. Then, with a stomp of his fist, the ground shook and a long fissure appeared, running towards the chasing Red Crown Dragon Serpent as if the ground was a piece of wooden slap and a crack had appeared on it.

The Red Crown Dragon Serpent roared in rage, unbothered by Cian’s small tricks. Unlike his [Imagis Realis], Cian’s attack doesn’t seem to be able to pierce through its defense.

As expected of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent, its reputation is not undeserved.
