V2 Chapter 40
Far from the Demon Empire, in the central part of the Continent—The Imperial Kingdom of Walie, Holy Land of the Roostahar Church that worships the God of Creation; God Rakoste. It is the largest religious organization in the world and a religious nation; it has a population of over 30,000 believers. About a year ago, a dozen heroes were summoned from the other world by the Church’s Holy Maiden. Adam Taylor the leader of the heroes is alone on the balcony of Walie Kingdom’s Palace.
“Adam, what are you doing in this place?”
“Oh, Abby?”
When Adam turns around, there was his classmate Abby Williams. She made her long black hair into a ponytail and she was sweating slightly. Probably she was returning after training at the training grounds. Before summoning, she served as a student council president at a high school where they were attending as well as the Class president of their own class. The grades are always on the top. Furthermore; Abby Williams goes through the Fencing national class and is accomplished in both the literary and military arts. She boasts tremendous popularity regardless of boys and girls students.
“Sheena is praying on the Church again, I’m guarding to keep the people out of the way.”
Adam is the embodiment of integrity; the word “innocence” applies even in a good meaning or a bad meaning. Although it cannot be up to Abby Williams, he is also a proud member of the school with outstanding academics and sports. He is also a very popular person wherever he goes because he has a strong sense of justice and is equally gentle with everyone. The appearance is handsome of an idol level. He had never been frustrated since his birth, and the people around him always focused on him. From such an environment, Adam Taylor does not know to doubt a person and thinks that everyone is a good person. That’s what he’s good at, but it has a dangerous side to it.
“Sheena continues to pray… it seems like she still believes that ‘that’ guy is in this world, summoned with us.”
“I also believe that though…”
Adam frowned. “…but no matter what we did nor how hard we find him, he is nowhere to be found at all…I even starting to doubt that ‘he’ is here!”
“Then, what are you saying?” Abby Williams frowned slightly. “We are all in the same classroom when we are summoned. But apart from ‘him’ all of us are here! Saying he was overlooked and left behind, is extremely doubtful…!”
“…then, there is only one conclusion, either his somewhere outside the kingdom or he is avoiding us intentionally…or probably he is…” Dead… is what Adam wanted to say but he stops himself from saying anything. However, even without saying anything Abby seemed to have understood what he was thinking.
“Do you really think ‘he’ died…?”
“… …” Adam frowned but he didn’t say anything.
“…hmph! I know right,” Abby grinned. Then, her face turned radiant, “If we follow the route to a classic and beta Hero Summoning light novels, you might be the one who acquired the Hero title among us, but if we choose someone who can shake that standing…there’s only one person…”
“… …” Adam glared at her. He snorted but he didn’t say anything. After all, he too was self-conscious and not just an idiot who blindly thought to himself as someone greater than every one of them.
“…’that’ guy is a loner and seemed detached from all of us—ah, no that should be wrong, except to one person, I guess. Athletics, Academics, Arts—apart from socializing and human interactions, he’s on the same level as us, no probably even above than most of us, known as top students. Well, I guess, he wouldn’t be in our class, if he was deemed ordinary, anyway—Even Miss Rachel claimed that if only ‘he’ would give much effort to everything he does, he would be the one standing in the top seat of all classes. Above you and me…” Abby shrugs. “…too bad, I don’t know what the deal with the guy is. He’s too far indifferent and cold, and the more I approach him, the more I feel apprehended…”
“…why don’t you just say he’s a murderer…?” Adam snorted.
“So you noticed as well…?” Abby grinned. “As I thought, only those who give much importance to him would surely realize it—that apprehension and coldness… you noticed it after we are summoned in this world, right?”
“… …”
Abby walked over and then turned around, leaned her back on the railings of the balcony, staring at the sky; “You and me, all of us cannot be differentiated from murderers now and even those around us, especially those who have killed far more than we can imagine. We don’t know what it was before, but now our perception, as well as minds, broadened, just thinking about it for a bit, the answer as to how that guy seemed to be different from us easily appeared. We couldn’t understand it before, no matter how much we rack our brains out because we don’t know what it was like, but now that we are murderers as well, we know full well what it was—he indeed reeks of ‘blood’…!”
“I don’t know how many people he had killed, nor why he had done such thing. Was he a killer, a murderer, a psychopath—but one thing is for sure, no matter where he is now, in this world, that guy dying…is just too impossible to even think about it, don’t you think?” Abby smiled faintly as she recalled that guy’s appearance inside her mind, “Even us who are amateurs in killing, and was still considered little kids compared to him, was able to survive in this world and even able to learn how to kill—that guy who had probably been numbed in killing would find this place, a paradise…”
“…just what do you want to say?” Adam felt that Abby was hinting on him about something. He just can’t understand, no probably he doesn’t want to understand…
“Adam, you and I, both of us can be said to be top students. Is this something you needed someone else to hammer into your head?”
“… …” Adam frowned.
“Light novels can be said to be not useless in times like this. They are not as educative as textbooks indeed, but sometimes, they hit the mark… or they give clues to something we might have overlooked.” Abby’s carefree expression turned serious and solemn. “If this is a stereotype novel. Don’t you know what will happen as the story go on?”
“I’m sorry but I am not fond of light novels…” Adam sneered.
“Ah, Adam, Adam… you’re too uptight. Not reading light novels just because you are a top student, mean you are losing much in life…” Abby grinned. She shrugs her shoulders, tap Adam’s shoulder and started walking away; “Anyway, I won’t say much as I fear ‘Walls have ears and the Sky has eyes’ but please do be cautious and be wary of what you see and perceive…’that’ guy’s disappearance, whether he was avoiding us intentionally and having the blast of his life…or there is something behind the cover that you have not seen yet because you are focusing completely on the title of the book…we are smart people, Adam…”
Adam frowned as he looks at Abby’s back as she walks away. What does she mean? That the Kingdom is lying to us…?
That is impossible…!
And that guy’s disappearance, it would have been his intention—he had never taken part in our circle. He had always separated himself from us… and do you want me to believe that his disappearance has something strange behind it? Foolish. It would even be stranger if he appeared her and cooperate with us…!
I’m sure of it… even if he really is in this world, he would never want to stay with us and do something by himself instead…!
Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.
“…Darn it…” Adam frowned as he looked at the blue sky.
The sky seemed to be gloomier than a while ago...
… …
Ruka’s body jolts awake as Cian suddenly groaned as if in a nightmare. Seeing this, her expression immediately changed as the air within the room turned heavy. However, for some reason, Ruka realized that her heart was extremely light. Fool! She cursed herself in anger. As although her beloved master was currently suffering, she was actually feeling lighthearted about it? Such stupidity if she could, she would surely strangle herself at this very moment.
However, although she thought as such, but for some reason, Ruka couldn’t erase the satisfied feeling she was having.
As the incongruence rouses her, like a cold front meeting a warm front to wrestle into a storm. Before her, his breath tickles her neck and collarbone like delicate lightning zaps. Although he was having a nightmare, yet he was still hugging her, looking for her warmth and this caused her to be happy. What an idiot am I!! Ruka cursed herself inwardly.
Cian's arms entwined around her waist, pulling her towards him as if wanting to feel her warmth and body. “Master…” she muttered gently as she softly rubbed her beloved master’s brow, wanting to ease him from his unknown nightmares.
And as expected, as if feeling his fingers, the brows furrowed on Cian’s face slowly softened and his groaned starting to become soft breathing sounds. Ruka was happy. She tried to push him away so that he could have a good comfortable space for himself. But what causes her to be extremely elated was the fact that even in his sleep, he seemed to be committed to her. Although unconscious, his body slowly, unconsciously, reflexively gravitates toward hers again. His arms would look for her and entwined on her body, dragging her back to him. As a woman, what kind of happiness is this...? This is the greatest happiness a woman could have, you know~
Ruka shoves him away. He returns. Like a slow magnet. And so, although she knows that she should not feel something like this, she was still extremely satisfied, no, more than satisfied, in fact, she was elated she could die. Unlike before, when they slept together, this night, probably due to his exhaustion and wounds, Cian was in a deep sleep and nothing could stir his peace. However, he was drawn to her far more than the usual!
Couldn’t sleep back, Ruka peers at him in the moonlight bed. His neck is open. His somewhat lean muscles painted by shadows. His high cheekbones remain tight, his fluttering eyelids somewhat loose.
Then, suddenly in Ruka’s mind appeared a bold idea—she cannot sleep anyway and besides, this opportunity is extremely rare. She couldn’t have it a while ago because he fell asleep, making her somewhat disappointed. But now...
With an evil grin, she pushes his limp body onto his back and forces her hand down the front of his pants.
She strokes him in his sleep, up down up down up down
Until she falls asleep—holding ‘him’ gives her a very comfortable and secure feeling.
Good night…my beloved master…
Ruka's lips smiled happily as she finally managed to fall asleep.
… …
On the night… in Sibylla’s room…
The faint moonlight coming from the outside flashed through the dim room, lightening the somewhat somber mood.
Through the dim light, one could easily spot a beautiful figure sitting just beside the window, his slender and beautiful hands swaying in the wind as the brush she was holding slid through the crass white paper in front of her. She wore a beautiful green dress that was long enough to cover her legs, her beautiful emerald hair was casually draped over her shoulder, and she had a slender waist and a delicate figure, her tall figure wasn’t any shorter than people her age.
She was sitting surrounded by a cold wind, which she completely disregards even though she was wearing light clothes, unbefitting of the weather. With her clothes like snow, fluttering in the winds freely, she was like the fairy on the mood, sweeping the palace seemingly awaiting any visitors that might come.
Her eyebrows were like willows, her almond-shaped eyes were showed a strange ambiance in the cold dim light, all while carrying with them a subtle smile. Her expression was like the ocean, as her lips were a shade of beautiful and natural pink. Her neck was like a beautiful swan, proudly holding up her beautiful head. Below her sleek shoulders was a busty but humbly concealed chest, elegant and natural. Below her waist, her rear was perfectly sized, giving her figure an elegant curve to further perfect her beauty. As the cold winds blew gently, the folds of her skirt fluttered, slightly revealing her perfect and smooth long legs.
Sibylla was sitting there silently, as though all of the elegance in the world had converged on her! It was a completely dazzling scene!
It was just like a beautiful painting, making one feel as though even a single trace of admiration in their heart would be a blasphemy against her and a cardinal sin!
As expected of someone regarded as one of the most beautiful fairies in the Demon World, she was just like a fairy that was untainted by the secular realm. She only had a single accessory, a silver hairpin in the form of a thorny rose. But, it increased her eye-catching beauty even further!
If anyone was they and saw it, they would surely feel that if there was even one more accessory on her, it would spoil her untainted beauty instead!
As graceful as a celestial! As elegant as a fairy!
Within her room, everything was neatly placed. The bookshelf was neatly arranged with dozens of books, and everything on the table was well organized. On the snow-white wall, a few paintings and calligraphy hung on it quietly.
The words were all in cursive and the painting was done with paint splashing, with the both of them complementing each other well.
As someone who loves reading and arts, Sibylla hardly has any interest in anything aside from books and things related to them. Although, in this world books are quite precious and rare due to this world not having a printing press and could only be written by hand, making it even more difficult and hard to reproduce in massive amount. And thus becoming a very interesting hobby for passionate collectors—even still, she liked buying and reading books whenever she saw one, in which she unexpectedly shared the same interest with her lover, completely startling her at first.
She had never expected the infamous second prince, Aanuel to have the same hobby as her—to the point that she couldn’t allow new books to be absent in her room wherever she stays. After all, Aanuel would occasionally come to borrow some to read. She greatly enjoys the time, in which she cared deeply.
And to her surprise, sometimes, Aanuel would write some interesting things, as well as stories himself, giving it to her as a present or token of apology: [Snow White and the Seven Dwarves], [Cinderella], [Beauty and the Beast], [Jack and the Beanstalk], [The Bremen Town Musicians] and many more interesting stories in which she surprisingly found lovely and even become fascinated with them. Never did she think that her infamous prince would be so creative and excellent in story writing, she really found it unbelievable. There were even some who were far greater than those he had read from before…
To this unexpected aspect of her beloved, Sibylla was certain that no other woman had known of it yet, giving her some quite surprising happiness and fulfillment in her vanity.
... ...
Sibylla continued to paint gently, her paintbrush moved as if it was dancing and a magnificent mountain peak appeared on the paper, she drew each peak from the base of the mountain to the summit, from the bottom to the top of the paper; a steep cliff completely occupied the scene.
She was just a young girl but regardless of her strokes or the luster of ink, her movements were already on the boundaries of a great master. Under her hands, the mountain peak came to life and it exuded a majestic atmosphere, if a person were to look at it, he would feel as if he were in front of a mountain himself with his head raised in admiration.
“There's only you in my life
The only thing that's right…”
“My first love…
You're every breath that I take
You're every step I make…”
Wooosh. Outside the window, there was a small pine swaying gently in the winds. In front of the window was a jade flute which was completely white in color and clarinet in deep crimson. She loved music as well…and the song that she loved listening to and even went to the point of forcing a certain someone to teach her the lyrics and the right tone of it, was none other than; [Endless Love]
The song that her beloved had created just for her and even sang for her, giving it a very high significance in her life.
Aside from that value, the lyrics, tone, atmosphere and even the feelings giving off from the song, cause her to fell in love with them. And now, from time to time she would sing it, showing her wonderful mood. However, at this moment, her mood plummeted and her brows frowned that she stopped singing.
“Get out!” Her ice cold voice was soft but it strangely echoed within the room. As if being accompanied by the cold wind from the outside, the mood within the room, turned freezing cold.
“As expected of lady Sibylla, not only your voice is heavenly beautiful as your face, you also have keen senses. To be able to notice me, this Faran, of humble birth is truly impressed.” A cheerful voice responded accompanied by distinct sounds of footsteps coming out form shadows located in the corner of the room.
There standing was a blue-robed, peerless youngster that was leisurely walking towards Sibylla’s direction.
Sibylla's brows furrowed...Faran... she muttered in her mind as she saw the youth that had come out from the dark corner of her room.
