V2 Chapter 74
The Curse would not activate unless they attempted to betray him.
If not, no matter how much sufferings they experience in the hands of the enemies who captured them, the Garden of Eden wouldn’t forsake them and even do everything to save them and bring them back, all while, taking the right vengeance in return. Cian had always upheld the principle, of ‘Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth. And Blood must be paid with Blood!’
But if you have the heart to betray, then you are nothing but a dog and can be killed easily.
To the Garden, betrayal is the gravest sin to commit!
This kind of cruel and cold disposition, although Cian who had been born and trained as an assassin, he would never actually treat life as anything, unlike his family. He values himself with pride and humanity, having even the tiniest bit of emotion. If not, he would have not cared and accepted his identity as an Assassin and live the life he had been living up until now without care.
However, Cian failed to realize that his thoughts were changing every passing day—no, ever since he had stepped into this world, all of it has gone tremendous transformation!
Probably, it just because he had never cared and had always been the type of person who walks the path he wanted to walk. Without any caring about consequences or obstacles, he would head straight to the goal he wanted to achieve and tread the road of his choosing without allowing any external influences to affect him. Due to this, he had never realized that his disposition had changed significantly upon his arrival in this world.
All he felt was to do what he seems to be a good idea or an interesting one. He doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos.
Even if he slaughters a thousand or a million people, if he thought it was necessary, he would not mull over morality or righteousness. He might be twisted in the mind but he believed that what he does is his definition of justice.
But that is what defines a human being.
Most criminals, terrorists, cultist, or any sort of people who are bad and evil in the eyes of the public, they might be mocked and detested. However, if one looks closely and try to see from a different angle, all they do is what they believe is right…is the correct one. Of course, save for those who are truly twisted and only do cruel things for entertainment and fun.
You might think they are the cruelest and most wicked people in the world, but for those who believe the same thing as them, it was the holiest and most act of righteousness!
The most important thing used to judge things since time immemorial, has always remained the same—no matter what world, no matter how much time passed by.
And that is none other than—[Perspective]!
Each person in the world has different ways to interpret events, things, and happenings in the world. After all, every person possesses different interests in mind.
Among these people are one such as Cian Cahlo who still thinks of good as better than evil. He would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. As for what is good or bad, it depends on the perspective of people. He’s not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. On the other hand, he doesn’t have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has. All the actions he did were a necessity.
However, Cian failed to realize that his own thinking had gone a tremendous transformation at this current life compared to that from when he was still on Earth.
Unlike from before, although he still managed to retain his former personality and character for the better part of it, now, he does whatever he can get away with. Not caring about methods or process, just to reach the goal he so desired.
You can even say, the current Cian Cahlo is just out for himself, pure and simple.
He sheds no tears for those he kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience. He has no love of order and holds no illusion that following law, traditions, or codes would make him any better or more noble.
He acts without care of others, having the only conscience directs him with little regard for what others expect of him. His thinking is very active as if he didn’t experience any systematic learning. Extremely flexible and often unpredictable.
He is not bound by rules and regulations, or culture or tradition, almost as if having a very whimsical brain.
He makes his own way—
Some people see him as kind and benevolent, some crueler than the vilest demon in the world. However, no one knows what he was truly thinking, nor cared about it. They just believed that the person himself believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. Thus, can be seen to sometimes easy to be misunderstood.
He follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
In this sense, the Human Knight falls under this category.
Ezra Redhawk completely believes that Cian was truly good at heart but slightly awkward in doing things. Despite thing that Ezra Redhawk gives him more credit than he expected, he wished for this kind of conclusion coming from her.
To the current Cian, only three types of people existed in this world. The first two are enemies he will purge and allies he loves and wanted to protect such as a lover, family, and friends he has acknowledged. And between these two are the people he finds convenient to use for his own goal.
Perhaps, this change came naturally, like beasts adapting to the environment to survive. Or perhaps, because Cian didn’t come into this world naturally but via transmigration. He had snatched a body that is not his, a body with his own soul.
The Second Demon Prince.
Although the prince had died and his soul should have dissipated, still, some of it lingers as some sort of attachment, influencing Cian little by little. Cian had felt it this before, his sexual appetite is one of the examples for this. However, apart from it, Cian didn’t notice anything. Because he wasn’t interested in caring and the other is that, to killing, Cian has long been numbed of it. His thirst to kill seemed to be naturally coming to him due to his upbringing, as well as the demon blood coursing through him.
Whether this was good or bad, Cian didn’t know. Even if he knows, he doubted he would care much about it. As long as he knows that it is necessary to survive, then it’s a given action.
He was not bad nor evil… instead, it was the world who was at fault.
This is his own vendetta.
Since before, still now, and would be in the future!
... ...
The handsome youth in the small lake waved his arm, causing ripples in the surface of the pool of water. He then slowly submerges back into the water, until it reached past his chest.
Leaning down on a large rock, he continued; “…with her intelligence, that old hag knows when to stop. There’s no need for a direct conflict against her. Just focus on expanding the company to the Beast World and the Human World. Extend our limbs and penetrate our fangs deeply and gather information…especially about the human and beast heroes. I want them as soon as possible…!”
After he finished talking, the handsome youth’s eyes gleamed as he stared through the thin fog covering the area.
To Bluebird’s actions, Cian would not care. Just like before she would stop before reaching his bottom line. Although she likes to stick her nose to his business, and even openly confront him, they had never made any deep grievances to each other...yet.
Cian, wary of her while Bluebird was just curious and interested to see what he wanted to do.
Both playing a game of chess, waiting for the other party to show any opening to strike.
Despite having no clear evidence of her claim, Bluebird had already believed fully that everything that is happening right now, even the one who had created [Adam’s Company] was none other than Cian. This belief never wavered no matter what Cian did to alleviate the suspicions this past few months. Fortunately, she didn’t care about other people or even tell him on to them. For her, this was her own entertainment… because of this, Cian didn’t mind playing with her!
Cian had already stopped hiding. Of course, he would never do something as foolish as confessing and revealing his cards. Let her find evidence and proofs herself, Cian didn’t care and instead, even made use of her in several times.
To this, Cian thought she would flip out, but to his surprise, she actually didn’t care.
Because of this, Cian managed to expand the business of the [Adam’s Company] faster than he had expected in just a few months.
As for the Blood hole Gang that Cian was in control of in secret, it naturally turned into the number one gang in Northern Border. Every single event in the city and underworld would be immediately sent to Cian at first notice. He had even planted some people in the Demon Capital in secret. Thus, keeping the Second Demon Prince fully in check of the happenings not only in the entire Northern Border but also in the Capital.
A year ago, a secretive organization named, [Cain’s Wrath] suddenly appeared in Demon Capital. This organization, not only shook the Demon World, even the Beast World, and the Human World trembled because of their appearance. The Organization prided themselves as the best assassins in the continent.
Any target placed on their bounty list would lose their lives within half a month; be it the so-called Hero or high ranking leaders, there were no exceptions!
The Clients and Victims are the same: both found in the Demon, Human, and Beast World alike.
There was no discrimination as long as one could give money and offer the equivalent price for the target, [Cain’s Wrath] will move.
The entire world, including the Demon World, was searching for the actual hideout of [Cain’s Wrath], yet no one could even find a tiny lead.
The mysterious organization; [Cain’s Wrath] had thus turned into one of the most frightening existences within the entire Green Star Continent in the world of Lumina!
Of course, the fee for assassinations would also be greatly inflated. The highest price being a sum that could actually reach the heavens, and buy an entire country!
Whatever the task, the [Cain’s Wrath] never knew of failure!
In the past, the Imperial Kingdom of Walie in the Central Region tried to set a trap after the Organization had managed to assassinate several young Heroes of the Kingdom.
They engaged over a hundred soldiers at where the missions were delivered, hoping to catch a staff to force out the location of their hideout so as to eradicate them. However, the result was that the Imperial Kingdom of Walie’s soldiers and several young heroes, who had dominated for over a hundred years within the Central Region, was cleanly wiped off the face of the world in that one night, a population of over two hundred elites guards and soldiers could only watch the assassins escaping successfully, almost half were killed. Even the Heroes who were the pride of the Imperial Kingdom could only watch in helplessness.
This news spread across the whole continent as though it had wings!
In that particular night, one name spread out in fame; [Cain] who seemed to be the leader of the organization.
His back and black figure bathed in blood at that night were remembered by many who have survived that night.
Many bards and minstrels depicted him as the God of Death and even giving him many names, boosting the reputation of this organization even more.
Despite this, his figure was only seen once and after that, the Organization became even more elusive.
Sometimes, one would only know that they appeared after hearing the group’s exploits.
