V2 Chapter 142
“Clingy Ghosts!!”
Cian cried out, a dark magic circle appeared beneath him, filled with letters from the ancient language of demons.
Cryaaaaahhh—!! Then, within the dark magic circle that was releasing black mist, dozen translucent figures flew out, their expressions grieving and horrifying to look. With a cry akin to that of the Banshee, all the ghosts flew towards the Red Crown Dragon Serpent.
The Monster roared and attack, spewing poison mists, however, the ghosts just ignored them and stuck towards the enormous serpent. As for Cian, he stepped back, the poison mist around him, seemed to have been blocked by a spherical barrier, as it just revolves around him.
“You were good, indeed… too bad, you just have to meet me…”
The enormous serpent struggled, trying to free itself from the clinging ghosts at it. However, no matter what it does, the ghosts stubbornly clung to it, even giving of crying sobs.
[Clingy Ghosts] is an intermediate spell under the dark and death system. Still, it has no attacking power and cannot even damage the opponent physically. However, most warriors feared this spell because, not only they look horrendous but once the ghosts latched onto you, they could hardly be taken off, and only light magic can exorcise them. Not only that, your movements will be slowed significantly.
For Mages, this spell was a death trap—because of their cries and sobs, it disturbed the mind of the mage and they wouldn’t be able to concentrate on casting their magic.
Cian smiled coldly. However, at this moment, the enormous serpent raised its head and let out a piercing cry. A huge red light shot straight into the sky. Cian’s smile stiffened and then turned into a frown. This snake is indeed, troublesome.
But Cian didn’t worry about anything. He might be weak in terms of power level, but against skills—he was certain he was among the strongest in the entire Continent.
Even if he was against this monster, Cian was confident he can defeat it.
Under Cian’s narrowed gaze, the red light in the sky formed into a huge red sword, ready to run straight through Cian.
Fuck. What the hell is with that red sword?!
How can a monster have this skill?!
Cian knew this was bad the moment he saw that sword. He doesn’t know what kind of skill it is, but surely it’s not a low-tier skill. If this is a Game, that would surely be one the powerful skill, a Boss Monster possesses!
It was a fire element attack magic, and it’s almost similar to the Advanced Magic spell known as [Sword of the Flame God].
Among Mages and Wizards, although its casting time was long, its attack power was very powerful, possessing enormous fire damage and it had the ability to ignore almost any defense. Even Demons at the 5th rank; Marquis wouldn't be able to block it. God knows how can a monster was able to cast it!
[Sword of the Flame God] shot down; the entire area was immediately swept over by flames, igniting everything into the fire.
The Red Crown Dragon Serpent seemed to look at Cian with a ferocious grin. The ghosts that were latching on it were slowly being burned by fire. Although Ghosts didn’t have a physical body to be burned, however, the element of fire possesses a small ability to purify ghosts, like lightning.
Although weaker flames couldn’t make any difference, extremely powerful flames could achieve it. Cian’s gaze darkened. This kind of flame… it’s not just any ordinary flame—it's Beast Flame…!
In this world, there were several kinds of treasure that was birth by nature. Treasures that all people coveted. Cian had read about them in the past, and these treasures are natural treasures, such as Gem of Magic that is capable of boosting and strengthening magic, especially Earth Magic.
Fruit of Resurrection, capable of reviving the dead, and many more. And one of these unique treasures is what they call Heavenly Flames.
They Flames formed by natural forces and they are incredibly powerful, much stronger than flames created with Magic. However, these Heavenly Flames are extremely wild and explosive, not to mention extremely rare, so even if one encounters a Heavenly Flame, it is still extremely difficult to absorb and control it. Nevertheless, any beings who can fuse with the Heaven Flames would surely be able to obtain much more than just their power.
It was even rumored that, once a Heavenly Flame is present, all other flames fear and follow it because they are the kings of flames and all other flames naturally serve it.
And among the types of Heavenly Flames known, there were those who are called; [Beast Flames].
Most Magical Beasts, Especially those with not simple bloodlines can manifest a Flame using their soul and power. This is what they call [Beast Flames] and its more powerful than any ordinary flames, even those created by magic. However, it is very difficult to obtain this kind of flame.
They are born from within a Magic Beast so they are harder to tame as compared to a natural Heavenly Flame that was birth from nature. They have the ferocity and character of the Beast who had created them.
Cian clicked his tongue. This monster is not just an ordinary B rank Magical Beast.
To be able to manifest a [Beast Flame], just what kind of fortune did it encounter in the past?
As the Red Crown Dragon Serpent was certain that the accursed Human ant in front of it would be burned to cinders by the Fire Sword, suddenly, Cian disappeared from his position. The five-meter long red sword cut into the ground, creating a hole that was one meter deep and half a meter wide, even burning the area around to ashes.
The proud look on the serpent’s face was replaced by a stunned look. It wasn't a fool, but it still couldn't understand what had just happened. What the hell happened?! How did he disappear?! But there was no indication of magic fluctuation.
How is that possible to vanish without using magic?!
“Blanket of Darkness!”
A cold voice reverberated throughout the entire area, and immediately afar, black mist spread out like fog. This black mist impeded, not only the Red Crown Dragon Serpent’s vision, even with his innate Night Vision, but all other beasts to have been struck blind by it.
The Red Crown Dragon Serpent roared in anger. The black fog enveloped the Red Crown Dragon Serpent, that even its Beast Flame couldn’t light up anything. It’s like a monster that had swallowed it, extremely terrifying.
When the enormous serpent swung back its massive head, trying to find Cian’s figure, at this moment, a dot light of blue and red colors appeared just behind the monster, and when it moved, the pair of a blue-red ball of became like hazy fireflies—
Clang! Clang! Clang! arc of sword lights appeared in the air, and blood spurted like a fountain.

The Red Crown Dragon Serpent who was caught off guard let out a piercing cry. Its voice cracked in pain and heartbreaking agony. It then tried to attack Cian with its massive tail, but Cian had already disappeared.
The Red Crown Dragon Serpent was extremely enraged and started to wreck everything, destroying whatever around it. It was even spewing poison mist after one another, breathing red colored flames and raining poison spit. The Poison corroded everything, unlike the fire burns anything it touches to ashes, the poison melts everything even rocks.
Even still, to the Red Crown Dragon Serpent’s shock and horror, not even a groan could be heard. Meaning, its indiscriminate attack was not doing jack shit to its opponent.
Cian’s black fog wasn’t any ordinary fog, not only could it block vision, but it could also block sounds from entering in.
Now the enormous monster was completely blind and deaf. But this doesn’t stop the Red Crown Dragon Serpent. Suddenly, the Red Crown Dragon Serpent’s eyes gleamed in purple light. Cian who was observing the Red Crown Dragon Serpent carefully, felt a chill crawling on his spine.
Fuck! That was the only thing that passed through his mind when he saw the Purple eyes that had turned towards his direction—what the—?! Cian’s mind blanked out and a bad premonition well up inside his mind.
And, answering to Cian’s expectation, the Red Crown Dragon Serpent who had found its prey, instantly lunged at him once more.
No matter how one looked at it, it was a frightening turn of speed, that’s for sure.
Fuck! It can see through his illusion…?!
How is this possible?!
This time it was Cian’s turn to become shocked and his face turned unsightly. Even Marquis would be unable to break through his illusion, and Duke Class Demon would be caught off guard if they didn’t knowit beforehand. And yet—this freaking snake…actually—!!?
Swwwiiiish!!
Cian narrowed his eyes. He gritted his teeth and he knows that he had finally met his match. But just what are these purple eyes?! How many Abilities does this fucking snake possess?!
It’s coming!
Cian snapped out from his shock and focused his attention on his [Night’s Eye]. Using it, he could now clearly see the attack of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent, which was something he couldn’t even properly decipher with naked eyes.
Even if his illusion technique was broken by, whatever that bastard snake had done, [Night’s Eye] was still one of the most powerful abilities Cian possesses. Everything that was reflected in his eyes slowed down. No matter how fast they will be, he can still follow them with his Eye.
Just before the Red Crown Dragon Serpent opened its maws wide, baring its blade-like fangs full of horrifying venoms, and tried to swallow him, Cian swiftly sidestepped and let the attack brush past him. He didn’t have enough time to completely dodge due to the monster’s terrifying speed.
Gritting his teeth, Cian wrapped his arms around the creature and caught it in a headlock. He then tightened his grip.
Crack! Shik! Crack! *SFX for bones breaking*
With [Herculean Strength] activated at full power, Cian’s strength even surpassed that of Bramble who was an Advanced Fighter. Cian gnashed his teeth, and an unbelievably powerful pressure tightened around the snake’s main artery.
The snake could not escape from his grip and thrashed around as if it was in pain. Most of all, with Cian’s reversal ability, the insides of the enormous serpent was getting haywire. It trembled and started to struggle free from Cian’s hold, and yet just couldn’t break free.
Although the Red Crown Dragon Serpent was able to lift Cian and smashed him to the ground, trying to smash into a pulp, Cian’s hold was like a vise, it just couldn’t come off. And even though he was pressed against the ground, it would just make a crater, the ground not touching CIan at all. It’s as if there was a spherical barrier protecting him.
Cian gritted his teeth and strengthened his arms even more. He tried to reverse all the blood flowing from the Red Crown Dragon Serpent—the enormous serpent had even started spewing blood from all of its orifices, but its vitality was incredible. It just couldn’t die…!
Slam!! Boom!!
Cian’s body slammed against the walls and on the floor, but he never released his arms. Then, with a loud roar, he channeled all his power into his strength, and then flames appeared on his back. Cian’s pupils suddenly turned similar to that of a hawk, and ghastly flames were ignited at each corner of his eyes, making it even more conspicuous. Woooosh.
A pair of bone-like wings blossomed on his back, covered by flames and using all his strength, Cian flew upwards bringing the shock Red Crown Dragon Serpent. This was truly the first time it had left the ground, and its entire body shivered.
“I hope you don’t have any problems with height,”
A cold voice muttered behind it.
You Bastard—!! The Red Crown Dragon Serpent roared in rage and also a bit of anxiety. It started wriggling like an earthworm, trying to break free from Cian’s hold. But how could Cian let it go?!
Cian laughed maniacally, and suddenly pulled the giant snake’s entire body, causing their figures to rotate upwards into the sky, until their heads were facing the ground, and they started descending in a quick speed.
The Red Crown Dragon Serpent immediately realized what Cian wanted to do, and its struggles become even stronger. It even spewed poison mist to cover its body and even ignited itself into flames. However, Cian didn’t care about it and ignored its desperate actions.
BOOOOOM!!!
A loud and deafening explosion occurred.
… …
Running through the forest while being chased by several Magical Beasts, Levelia, and the rest of the Flame Tyrant Clan leaped through branch after branch, not daring to stop at all.
Several beasts pursued them, but Aerean and Paryel who was leading the rear repelled them time after time. Levelia, on the other hand, was still carrying the four to five meter tall Bramble as they traversed the dangerous forest. Because among the group that can move, she was among the strongest; she took the initiative to carry Bramble and left the defense to the others.
Although Bramble’s body was somewhat recovered and was already away from the jaws of death, Dave’s current magic power is not enough to completely let him recover. Bramble was still unconscious. This shows how powerful the casual smashed of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent.
Although they were able to break through the encirclement of the Magical Beast and were able to escape, there’s no joy and relief in their faces—all of them wore grave expressions. Even Levelia’s eyes were red and seemed to be about to shed a tear.
They had left a comrade behind—no, to Levelia, she had left her heart behind as she selfishly escapes. Just how painful was this? In the past, she would never do anything like this. Even if she died, so what… she will one regret if that happened, and that is she wouldn’t be able to take care of her mother. However, the very moment she had become an adventurer, she had already prepared herself to die whenever and wherever. She had left money saved in the Guild for her Mother so that even if she suddenly fell, there would still be something that would guarantee her mother’s life.
That was her life savings, so the money stored within it was quite enormous and would surely give her a good life.
Her principles have always been; ‘Never leave a friend behind!’ and she had followed them until now. This principle caused her to become famous and well-known in Icegrass City, and even managed to make a lot of friends. All because of the fact that she has better morals and loyalty that is rarely possessed by people in this era.
In this world, you can hardly find someone you can trust and leave your life. And if you indeed find that someone, it was much more important than any treasures in the world.
However, at this moment, she breaks this principle for the very first time.
Not because she wanted to but because she needed to.
Cian had begged her to do it, as he didn’t know whether he would win against the monster or not, even with them fighting alongside him. Furthermore, if they really cannot contend against the Red Crown Dragon Serpent, escaping with them would be impossible. However, it would be possible if he was alone. Cian claimed that he was not the type to readily die for no reason, and would surely escape without hesitation. Although Levelia didn’t want to believe his forceful claim, due to him pleading for her permission, she doesn’t have a choice but to agree.
Besides, Levelia feared that her members would be annihilated as well. Unlike the other Great Clans, they have the fewest elites, and if these members disappeared, the Clan would be reduced into a Third-rate Clan.
Each and every one of them is most precious for her and her Clan. So, of course, Levelia was hesitant to let them stay and fight, when their abilities greatly diminished after fighting desperately for so long, and even one of them was incapacitated. And she greatly understands that without leaving one behind to stall the monsters, leaving alive with them intact was nigh impossible.
But even with their close friendship, no one would dare take up that role. Every living being fears death, even she who was resolve to die still fear it. Someone took the initiative to step forward, who would dare stop him?
Although Levelia wanted to cry and scream in regret, she knows that she must live… live and wait for him.
He would not die… not dying in here at least!
He said he would survive and see her again, and so she will wait!
Although it was an unfounded belief, Levelia trusted Cian; that he would never lie to her. Even if he was besieged by numerous B rank monsters, if he said he would survive, then he would. Although they had met for the first time, she still gave her heart and body to him. Because, for some unknown reason, she felt secure with him beside her.
She didn’t know why but she felt like she had known Cian for a very long time despite them only being acquainted for a few days.
They seemed to have a sort of unusual familiarity and understanding with each other.
Because of this, Levelia gave him everything she had and could.
And now, even her trust was given to him…
