V3 Chapter 58
Winter Mountain, Icegrass City-
Heart Garden.
Located at the noble’s district in Icegrass City.
It's a Mansion bought by Sibylla in the Icegrass City to make into the Garden’s new base.
With the unstoppable development of the [Eve’s Affection] cosmetic and fashion company- a secret subsidiary of [Adam’s Company] that was established in Icegrass City, Haaravar Empire, a business solely focused on women’s necessities.
While waiting for his incorrigible fiance to come home, Sibylla spent his time building their business empire. Though, not as fast as the miraculous growth and development of Adam’s Company in the Demon Empire, [Eve’s Affection] garnered a lot of attention upon its creation, especially among the noblewomen and wives.
Because of that, Sibylla was able to socialize with the noble families and integrate herself slowly in the Empire’s core, establishing a great circle connection.
In just one week, the [Eve’s Affection] transformed from a small, unknown clothing shop into an intermediate size business shop. Though, the shop’s success can also be attributed greatly to Levelia’s help.
Sibylla realized that she seemed to have really underestimated Levelia’s ability. Though, just a commoner mercenary, but her connection with the female nobles is quite large.
The reason being, that she’s a woman herself. And with a good personality and behavior to boot, she was often hired by noblewomen for escorts and important missions.
And Sibylla even heard that Levelia was apparently offered a bodyguard job by a ducal house. But the latter refuses. Accepting the job means abandoning her group since most mercenaries prefer freedom. And some even hated or dislikes nobles.
Levelia Ornsted might be a commoner, but her name is indeed resounding even in the Noble District.
With her name as a banner, [Eve’s Affection] was sailing well.
At the Heart Garden, inside the Mansion after working, Sibylla was half lying down on a wooden chair with her eyes closed.
Behind her, a beautiful lady in a blue dress stretched out her jade-like hands and gently massaged her shoulders. Her expression was extremely sweet with a sense of satisfaction in her beautiful eyes. It was as though the happiest thing on earth would be for her to stay by Sibylla’s side and massage her.
However, suddenly, with a barely inaudible ‘swish’, a black-dressed figure entered by flipping over the walls.
Sibylla’s eyes were still closed and her expression did not change. However, the white-dressed lady behind her turned cold as the smile on her face disappeared. Replacing it was a chilly glare- her sharp gaze swept past the black-dressed figure.
The black-dressed figure then shuddered for a moment and took a few steps forward.
When he was in front of Sibylla, he took a knee and said, "This subordinate pays his respect to her excellency Eve and Lady Fifth!"
Sibylla then replied with a soft ‘oh’ to acknowledge the greeting.
As for Quinto, the chill on her face was not reduced a single bit and did not even look up. To her, the only people who she can show her emotion and expression were her Masters; Sibylla, and Aanuel.
Though, sometimes she also displayed her emotions to her peers, the Numbers. But under them, there’s no need for acknowledgment.
Without caring about the black-figured man’s greeting, she continued to massage Sibylla’s shoulder. Still, her chilly gaze unknowingly lightened somewhat.
The black-dressed man, Aster, felt his body relax as though he was being spared. Then, he quickly took out a letter from his bosom and handed it over with both his hands.
Seeing the symbol in the letter, Quinto’s eyes narrowed.
She then waved her hands gently as the letter unknowingly fell into her hands.
As though he was used to it, the black-dressed man was not startled and said, "Your Excellency Eve, the War of Beasts have made their move, and ambushed Her Highness the Demon Princess in her way to the Demon Capital. The battle took place at Westmarch. As we feared, because her highness has left with a light load, she was immediately pushed back into a corner. Lady Third, Lady Sixth, Lady Seven, and Lady Nine, with the delay due to cleaning up the enemy’s reinforcement, had finally arrived to help and protect Her Highness, the Demon Princess."
“They ambushed Her Highness?"
“Yes, apparently they wanted to take her alive,”
Sibylla then replied with a soft ‘oh’, as though it was all within her expectations. Then, she asked calmly, "Oh, it was Terzo who went personally? What is the casualty count of the Garden like?"
Aster said solemnly, "23 deaths, 14 serious injuries, and 24 light injuries. Sister Sun Flower’s right shoulder was also injured."
Sibylla’s brows furrowed, "The losses are so big? Sun Flower was the commander of the [Fence] am I right? Her ability is second away from being a part of the Numbers. How is she injured?”
Aster trembled as he said, “We didn’t expect the War of Beasts were using Rampaging Drug Incense to make the monsters there go berserk. The monsters who were drugged went into a rampage, turning the situation into complete chaos.”
“The Rampaging Drug Incense, you say?”
Quinto finally spoke out.
Her expression becomes even colder as she glared at Aster.
Aster’s already pale face began to break out in a sweat but did not dare to wipe it. He stood up even straighter as he reported, “Yes! Because of that, the monster went berserk, attacking and killing everything in sight. And among them, are those powerful demonic beasts. Sister Sun Flower, while fighting against several powerful enemies was also attacked by these powerful monsters, and was injured.”
Rampaging Drug Incense… it’s a vile drug incense that made those who smelled it lose their reason. Though it barely affected intelligent beings, especially those with strong wills, for Demonic Beasts whose intelligence is narrow, however, it’s extremely effective.
However, even the demons didn’t dare use that drug, making it a forbidden drug, since it would take a very long time for the effect to disappear, and so, would create more chaos. Those who were affected by it would kill anyone indiscriminately, even those who should be allies.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
To think the War of Beasts, those scumbags would use such sickening drugs…!
Did they not fear involving the innocent villages and cities nearby?
This drug can easily cause a massive monster outbreak, killing countless people. Truly a cruel thing to do.
“They must have used it for their retreat… they must have expected that the Demon Army would be mobilized to save Her Highness Oriel. A Demonic Beast Horde would be a good opportunity for an escape way.” Sibylla muttered coldly.
“How about the Demon Army… did they move?”
“The Demon Army is on its way. Dragon Knights have also been deployed. However, even at the fastest, it would still take an hour or so before they arrive at the location.”
“Hmm, before the Demon Army arrives, tell the Numbers to retreat immediately. This is still not the time for our appearance, nor the right time to appear in front of the Empire. Do you understand?”
“Yes, your excellency Eve!”
Sibylla then lay back down and shut her eyes.
Seeing this, Quinto waved her hands to Aster.
"You may leave. Report if there are any changes."
As though he was spared from torture, Aster took a bow and drifted over the wall as though he was a leaf in the wind, disappearing in a blink of an eye.
As he came and went, no one in the house managed to discover his presence!
When Aster left, Sibylla’s closed eyes opened.
Recalling the report, her expression darkens.
“It seems like our worries were spot on. The War of Beasts dared to directly confront her highness. But why? What would they gain from it? Attacking her highness, meant rebelling against the Empire. Do they not fear the revenge of the Demon Empire?”
“...perhaps, as we expected, the War of Beasts had allied with the first prince,” Quinto muttered.
“There’s a high chance of it happening,”
Sibylla muttered with a solemn expression.
“It seems like the unstable balance of the continent had forced these Great Organizations to make a move…”
“Did they saw this as an opportunity, perhaps?”
“The Demon Empire doesn’t want to break the status quo for the time being, so they cannot make large movements. This is indeed an opportunity for them to beat the giant mammoth of an Empire down,”
“...but isn’t this also within our expectations?”
Sibylla narrowed her eyes-
Was the current situation, really better?
Aanuel, isn’t this too much of a gamble?
“...if we wanted to completely take over the Demon Empire, the Three Great Organizations would surely be a hidden thorn. But doing something like this, we can indeed bait them all out…however, after this would be a battle royale. It would become even difficult to predict what would happen. Don’t you think, this is too much of a gamble…”
“But we will be able to see the true powers that the Great Organizations are hiding… fear not the enemy in front, but those behind the shadows, isn’t that what the Master always says?”
Quinto replied, somewhat in doubt for Sibylla seemed full of worry on the plan laid out by their Master. Unlike their (Eve), Quinto fully trusts and believes in their Master's words. He had never failed them before. Not even now.
“I know,”
Sibylla nodded with a helpless expression.
“However, just a small change in plans would be detrimental for us. Just like what is happening right now. Although we expected it, it’s also the worst thing to happen… a Great Organization coming out and targeting her highness directly- this would surely cause chaos in the center of the Empire. Not to mention, because of this, we are forced to appear. This is a great change in our plans.”
“... …”
“Now, we can only hope to minimize the casualties, and that’s to kill the leaders of the War of Beasts that came out this time, to at least cripple the enemy organization. We should be able to offset the price of this sudden matter. But if Terzo can’t do that, it will surely bite us back,”
Sibylla said with a solemn expression. Then, she turned towards Quinto, “That’s right, what about the other two…? One should have already contacted Her Highness by now,”
Quinto shook her head, “Not yet, however, we have noticed some suspicious movements within the Okmahun City, and most especially, around her highness a few days ago. We thought they were spies from the War of Beasts. But when we look into it, there’s a high chance of them coming from [Lilith’s Sin],”
“Oh?”
Sibylla’s eyes widened slightly, somewhat surprised.
Since she was so busy with the [Eve’s Affection], she left all this matter to the [Numbers].
Thus, this is truly a piece of incredible news for her.
“Are you sure?”
“We caught someone holding the emblem of the [Lilith’s Sin], so we are confident that she indeed is a spy from [Lilith’s Sin].”
“Are they hostile?”
“It doesn’t seem to be the case, though we don’t know… they seemed to be just spectating things for the moment, waiting,”
Sibylla furrowed her brows, and then let out a wry smile.
“I thought they would be the last one to move- I was actually thinking that it would the Demon Gate Auction House. Hmmm? Wait, let me guess, the Demon Gate Auction House went after Her Highness Situel?”
Quinto’s eyes widened in shock; “How did- ah, yes, we have received reports of people approaching Her Highness Situel in the Demon Academy. And we are confident that they are from the Demon Gate Auction House… though, we still have yet to confirm whether they have already come to an agreement, or even what the Second Princess wanted to do. There’s no sign of any actions yet taken by her…”
Sibylla shook her head with an appalled expression; “Incredible… it seems like what Aanuel told me, is truly happening,”
“The Master…?”
“The War of Beasts will side with the First Prince. The Demon Gate Auction House, on the other hand, will choose Her Highness Situel... and lastly, [Lilith’s Sin] will be standing behind Her Highness Oriel…” Sibylla said with a wry smile.
What he had predicted had finally come true.
How did he even foresee this?
“Though, his reasoning behind the allocation is simple- so simple it looks as if he was joking, but to think it would really happen… I wonder, can Aanuel…see the future?”
“Hehehe, perhaps he could?”
Quinto was surprised for a moment. But then, recalling her Master’s face, suddenly, her surprise turned into confidence.
“Maybe the Master can indeed see the future…and even if that’s not the case, it’s no surprise. There’s nothing the master didn’t know.”
Sibylla turned at her, and regarded her with a teasing smile; “Is this, boasting I feel from you?”
“Eh?”
“...it seems like you regarded him more compared to me, your real master~ I guess, love indeed topple everything, even casting aside family, is it?”
Quinto’s face turned beet red.
With a tinge of shyness, she lowered her head and didn’t dare make eye contact with Sibylla.
“My Lady, please don’t joke like that.”
Quinto felt so anxious, shy, and embarrassed.
She wished she could just dig a hole in the ground and hide in it.
Sibylla exploded in laughter.
This kind of expression, only she shows in front of Aanuel, or Quinto who she loved like a real sister.
Watching her master laugh at her, Quinto’s face became even more bashful, to the point she almost looks at the window while thinking of jumping and escaping this embarrassing situation.
As for the matter regarding the battle at Westmarch, Sibylla and Quinto were not the least bit worried about it. Four Numbers have been dispatched, and even Terzo and Sesto personally came- the battle has already ended before it even began.
The only worry left right now, is the consequence of this action.
But whatever the future holds, Aanuel would surely do something about it.
Still, just where is he right now?
It’s been a week already, and yet there’s still no news from him…
Damn that idiot…
Sibylla let out a helpless sigh as she looks at the dim, white cloudy sky in longing.
He must be enjoying his time… all while leaving me with the troublesome things. What a selfish lover.
I should really give him a piece of my mind the moment he returns!
… …
Well, just like she thought, the Demon Prince in question is really enjoying his time.
… …
