V2 Chapter 63
Lights and celebratory noises echoed in the Palace.
Looking at it one last time, Ezra felt complicated but bitter feelings bubbling within her.
Emotions that she couldn’t understand…
She bit her lips and then turned around, her figure blurred. She was running away, leaping into one roof to another and into the City’s Gates direction. Her mind was full of complex wirings she could not untangle.
Carrying those messy emotions, she was nearing the City’s Gates and just like she had heard—probably because of the celebration and the forces were gathered into the Palace security, there were only a few people guarding the gates than usual. Almost there…
With this amount of people, passing through is not a problem—is what she thought, when suddenly, Ezra’s ears twitched as her eyes both flashed open wide. As she saw two lights flash in the night, Ezra brought out her golden rapier in an instant and leaped forward with her sword immediately stabbing forward.
“Crash!”
With this movement, the tiles on the roof were immediately split apart due to Ezra’s foot putting pressure on it.
A shadowy figure fell towards her with a whistling sound as it made contact with her sword. A large amount of shock was sent spiraling into her arm, temporarily numbing her hand and causing part of her skin to split open.
Ezra was shocked at this man’s strength. With just a single exchange, she had been dealt with an injury she couldn’t afford to take. At the very least, this unknown assailant’s strength was comparable or even above her level.
Ezra immediately flew backward as she looked at the shadowy figure, “Who are you?!” She demanded.
“Kekeke, as expected, Her Highness is right… tonight, the rat will surely show its tail…” The shadowy figure gently landed in the ground and said.
This voice…
Ezra’s eyes narrowed. When the moonlight shined upon the mad before her, Ezra could finally saw the attacker closely. With a short beard and sharp eyes under his flaming hair, a middle-aged man with a stocky build could be seen standing at the end of the roof they were in, in his hand was a large almost three-meter battle axe in scarlet color.
Lion Fang of the North: Demon General Profar Von Leonel!
“…you have really caused us a very troublesome time, lady. But that would finally end tonight…!” Another silhouette appeared. Ezra turned towards the one that spoke, only to see a relatively short, white-robed elder, appearing out of the darkness. He only reached up to the General’s chest, probably around less than two meters and his face was full of wrinkles. But beneath those wrinkles lay eyes that shone brightly.
The elder’s voice was relatively calm, but the meaning behind his words carried some ill intent.
“You’re are already surrounded, there is no use for resistance… why don’t you just lay down your arms and surrender?”
Ezra turned towards the shadows that suddenly started appearing around her, indeed, she was already surrounded. But so what? Ezra smiled and said with a cold voice, “Surrender? It seems like you are underestimating my, Ezra Redhawk’s honor…Demon!”
"Incorrigible!"
"How dare you!!"
"Arrogant!"
“Hmph, you’ve refused to drink the toast, so drink the wine of punishment!”
Ezra’s words had angered many of the demons there, and instantly, with a wave of the elder’s hands, all the surrounding soldiers immediately charged toward Ezra in an attempt to seize her. The movements of these men were like the fuse to a fire. The very moment they charged at Ezra, others waiting also immediately followed suit.
Seeing the people come at her, Ezra faintly sneered, and a killing intent flashed in her eyes. Despite these demons having strong powers as among the elites, Ezra was confident of her own abilities…she was not called as the youngest prodigy that couldn’t be seen within a thousand years. Her golden rapier struck out swift as the wind and disastrous as a storm, it flashed with a golden glow.
In another instant, it flew lightning fast towards the people that charged at her. Because of the sword’s extremely fast speed, the demons hadn’t anticipated her sword coming at them with such blinding speed. They could barely catch a glimpse of the sword. By the time they were finally able to react, the golden rapier had already ruthlessly pierced their throats and hearts. Not a single person was able to evade it.
After recovering from her wounds and injuries fully, Ezra’s condition had swiftly improved. Unlike before when she was slightly famished and exhausted mentally and physically, Ezra was able to reach her peak condition under the Second Prince care. Even the Second Prince was barely able to contend against her speed, much less these pipsqueaks, they would not be able to dodge her attacks.
In the blink of an eye, a few demon soldiers had died to Ezra’s sword. With this sudden display of battle strength, those who had wanted to seized Ezra suddenly turned pale with fright before becoming even more vigilant. Carefully holding their weapons in front of them, they continued to slowly approach Ezra.
Even after killing those few demons, Ezra continued to move forward with her course of action. Her feet stepped across the roof with a speed of lightning as she disappeared from sight. The next time she reappeared, she was already 3 meters ahead of where she used to be and was running toward the City’s Gate.

Although she looks calm and unperturbed by the dangers around her, in her heart she was greatly disturbed. This is clearly an ambush…
Why?
How?
Many questions appeared inside her heart, disturbing her mind. “…however, I urge you to move faster. With the celebration tonight, the security of the City will become lax and that is your cue… your only opportunity to escape. After that, you can only leave it to fate…”
Is this how he meant by leaving it up to fate? Did he betray me…? Did he plan all of this…? Ezra’s heart felt as if it was tied into a knot. Although she doubted him, deep in her heart, she was actually hoping that his actions were true. Even if there were hidden motives but she still hopes that his words were real and without falsehood.
She had not cared about this case before, because she had not thought that it would matter whether the Second Demon Prince has some ulterior motives behind his nonsensical actions or not.
However, she cared for him now.
Even she herself didn't know how and why her mind had changed.
Someone she hadn't cared about before and even felt hostile to had suddenly become important to her. How?!
Following the twinkling light of Ezra’s sword, three of the people in the back of the incoming group instantly had their throats and hearts stabbed with the sharp tip of the sword. At the same time, the other demons near Ezra’s figure started to wave their weapons with a strong amount of magic power as they slashed at her.
Even with the demons slashing at her, Ezra didn’t spare them a single glance. Almost as if she had eyes on the back of her head, she slanted her body slightly so that the weapons would just miss her.
“Ding!” Not a single one of the demons had hit Ezra. Because their target was Ezra, each of the demons' weapons collided against each other in midair and echoed in a small symphony of metal sounds. As the numerous weapons all collided against each other, the amount of magic energy could be seen spiraling into the air.
Ezra’s eyes flashed dangerously as she took advantage of the stagnated weapons. In a flash, the golden rapier emitted a hazy glow that enshrouded everyone nearby. The golden rapier shined with light and with the trail of magic energy following the tip, it resembled the scythe of the god of death. With each stroke, the blade flew at the throat of each person and landed a fatal blow that spilled blood from their wounds.
“As expected of the Haaravar Empire’s young genius!”
At this moment, a voice rang out from behind her. Then. wooosh, a sound of cutting air, a large axe was trailing an arc in the air and slashing at Ezra’s head.
Ezra clicked her tongue and the golden rapier in her hand began to glow faintly with a golden light. Within the dark night, this color was very noticeable. In the next moment, the Golden Rapier flashed golden before striking at the giant battle axe.
“Ding!” The two weapons collided once more, causing Ezra to stagger backward. As expected of the infamous Lion Fang, this bastard was so strong that he was most likely at the Fifth or even a Sixth rank Sword Master. This wasn’t yet a level that Ezra could afford to fight against.
In the human world, a Sword Master is rank from the first rank to the tenth rank and Ezra was just the fourth rank with a high chance of breaking through the Fifth rank within thirty years, a feat that would dazzle all the people in the world, crowning as the would be youngest to reach the fifth rank, the sword saint realm, in the history of the world. A talent among talents…!
Disoriented, Ezra gritted her teeth as she parried all of Profar’s attack with her sword, all while retreating—Why? Why? Why?—her mind was constantly screaming those words. As for what she meant why she doesn’t know.
Her hands turning numb and several slashes had passed through her guard and started tearing her clothes and skin apart, there was even a large cut on her left cheek. She was being pushed back, with nowhere to retreat. However, she gnashed her teeth and endured, doing everything she can to fight back. Her Golden Rapier was still moving extremely fast, the golden glow had become a streak of light that made it hard to distinguish the blade.
Even General Profar and the other high ranking Demons would have to be careful when dealing with it, much less ordinary soldiers as they would find this blade extremely fatal, with a pierce means death…!
The Golden Rapier that moved in lightning speed, wreaked havoc as each demon and monster soldiers was completely powerless to do anything before their throats and chest were slashed, cutting the main artery in their necks. The enemies only saw a streak of golden light, before they felt a sharp pain at their throats and chests.
Following that, each one of them began to choke and fall to the ground. With a rapid breath, Ezra continued to move in between each enemy soldiers as her Golden Rapier continued to move around with magic energy enshrouding it. Within the group, each soldier felt a sharp pain at their throats before falling to the ground. Wherever Ezra moved, people would fall, and within that group of enemy soldiers, very few escaped her wrath.
As expected of the youngest prodigy…!
Even general Profar who was waiting for his opportunity couldn’t help but praised the young knight and wondered, if she would be given enough, at least, a year or two, she would surely be able to stand alongside them, along with those old geezers and old cots in the Human World. She would be able to possess the ability to change this war’s outcome…!
Extremely dangerous…!
Within the time it took to take two deep breaths, Ezra had already killed over twenty soldiers in an instant, only taking a move or two to kill each.
Since his sword techniques were very fast and accurate, Ezra’s killing potential was tremendous. Even for those veterans who only had the same level of strength as her, it was guaranteed that the first strike would be fatal.
In the time it took for the Demon Soldiers to reach the frontlines, they saw 20 of their people die. They could only glare and gnash their teeth in anger before they reached her. Those Demons Soldiers who died may have only been cannon fodders for the Demon Empire, but they had brought a total of over fifty people as most of the crowd was placed to protect the Winter Palace as well as every part of the City. And if they wanted some reinforcements, it would take them quite a long time to reach here. Hence, for almost half of their group to be gone within two deep breaths, this was an incomparably cruel event for them.
“You seek death!”
“You detestable human, don’t think you can escape alive!”
“Kill her!!! We must avenge our brothers…!! Don’t give her enough time to relax, kill her!!”
“Kill!!!”
Most soldiers ignored Ezra’s strength and courageously rushed at her with a snarl, wanting to take her life as soon as possible.
Their weapons were pulsed with strong demonic energy that vibrated against everyone’s ears as they slashed through the air toward Ezra. One of the attackers was a Veteran, extremely familiar to Ezra as she had met this man a few times in the battlefield—and she knows that this old demon was extremely strong. The moment the demon with four eyes and bull-like horns crossed swords with Ezra, the latter’s momentum immediately halted.
The man with four red eyes snarled and pushed against Ezra.
