V2 Chapter 39

[Demonic Bloodline Awakening]

Even the weakest, most trash bloodline is comparable to a Marquis level Body and there’s virtually no way of measuring or testing for a bloodline before it’s awakened. The older the bloodline, the stronger the ancestor once was. But on the other hand, the purity of the bloodline is weaker and the chances of inheriting it are lower.

Bloodline power was very rare in the entire world, whether it was the Human World or the Demon World, and they sometimes only appeared once every hundred or thousand years.

With the owner's increase in power, the bloodline inheritance would awaken and even have rare changes. In the Demon World, this is commonly called as [Demonic Bloodline Awakening]. Retracing back to its ancestors meant reaching the bloodline power of that person’s ancestors. For example, if the ancestor was a Demon King with the power to control space or fire, with the retracement back to its ancestor, the younger generation would have the same if not similar bloodline powers.

The only thing was that after the passing of countless generations, the bloodlines were extremely faint. To fully recreate the ancestor's shape, the bloodline needed to retrace at least 50% back to its ancestor. And achieving this is no small matter either. And so those who were able to manage to awaken their bloodline are known as geniuses and have status not lower than any Duke level nobles and powerhouses. As it was rare, they are treated as incredibly as precious and valuable as gold.

In the Demon World, the noblest and powerful Bloodline is of course, the Royal Family—in fact, half of the reason why the Demon Empress Sitana was able to reach the realm she was currently in was because of the awakening of her bloodline, which was exaggeratedly reaching roughly 62% noble blood, giving her power above any people.

There were several known ways to awaken Bloodline, some through training, some through luck, and some awakened by the trauma suffered from witnessing the death of someone close to them. In any case, one such common way is through experiencing a very strong stimulus, mentally or spiritually—of course, this was not a full proof plan either as [Demonic Bloodline Awakening] is not that common, if not, there would have been many awakened demon in the world. Turning the Demons into the most powerful race within the entire world. Luck, as well as potential place major rules on this…!

And to think that Ruka has this kind of ability—if he didn’t stop her just now then, Ruka would surely awaken it without fail. However, with her mental state as well as weaker strength, she would be consumed by the Awakening and has a high chance of losing her sense of self to her blood—and so, Cian has no choice to stop her. In any case, as long as she had almost awaken it once, there’s still a very high chance of awakening it in the future—but she must stiffen up before that, so that she could bear and withstand the burned of [Demonic Bloodline Awakening].

... ...

"... ..." While feeling quite envious about her adorable servant’s potential, Cian laid down on the bed, letting Ruka do her thing in taking care of him. While feeling exhausted, Cian let out a deep breath and before he knew it, he fell asleep.

"Hm?" While Ruka was tidying up Cian's clothes and injuries, suddenly she noticed that her master has already fallen asleep.

Ruka slowly and gently sat at the corner of the bed and studied the youth's peaceful, sleeping face. He was peacefully lying on the soft bed, with his eyes closed. The breathing through his nose was slow and regular. He was deep in sleep. However, seeing this, Ruka’s face and expression showed pain. Normally, whenever she moved or make any kind of action while he was sleeping, he would immediately wake up and open his eyes, like an alarmed rabbit that had never let his guard down and reacting to even the slightest stimulus. However, now, even though she sat there, he was still deep asleep—he was truly exhausted.

Looking at the wounds on his body, Ruka’s anger once again boiled up. These bastards…! If not for her master’s order, no matter who they are, she would surely kill them all! Even if she was weak she could still bite and she will surely bite them to death! They…they actually dare to hurt her master…?!! They must be damn! They all need to be damn!! Ruka wanted to cry and shout, scream and find those people who had hurt him to seek revenge. However, she didn’t know who they were and she couldn’t leave to investigate what had truly happened because she didn’t want to leave her beloved master alone like this, especially in this kind of state.

Ruka sigh and then hesitated for a moment before suddenly leaning her head down to gently kiss Cian on the forehead. She moved away the moment they made contact, as a faint smile suffused across her lips. But Cian was still sleeping with his eyes closed. His ruffled brow gradually eased as his expression turned soft and serene. “Master…seeing you hurting like this…pains me greatly. If only I can share half of your burden but…I’m sorry, I can only do simple things. I couldn’t truly help you in important things…I’m so ashamed, greatly ashamed…” she bit her lips as her eyes turned moist.

“It’s all my fault! If only I was competent enough to help you put to death those accursed bastards that want to hurt you…!” She then hesitated for a moment before taking off her shoes and lying down on the bed, lying side by side with her beloved master.

This was because Cian was sleeping in an unconscious state. It was unknown when he would wake up. It was pointless for her to wait by the side, so she decided to lie down for a while. Her action was extremely natural, after all, if there is nothing he needed to do and wanted to be alone, Cian would call her and let her sleep with him, every night...

She had already gotten used to it. She knows full well than anyone else how blessed she was for her to be able to be with him, sleep with and share these kinds of moments with him. She didn't want anything more beyond this. As long as she can stay like this forever, attend and served him for eternity, riches and power is something she would forsake without a second thought. Even her life, she would throw it in as a bonus, as long as she can stay at her master's side.

Because I love you... Master. You're the most important to me in this whole wide world...!

So please let me serve you forever, Master. Whether in this life, the next life, or the next, next life and for all eternity. I don't want anything else, I don't want any status, wealth and riches, just being your servant is all fine by me...!

Ruka leaned sideways and was just a few centimeters away from Cian. She had a bashful expression on her face, but she did not go any closer, in fear of disturbing Cian’s sleep. She knows how sensitive Cian was in people’s presence, she feared that, even if Cian was deep in slumber and totally exhausted, he would suddenly sense something and woke up. She cannot do that, because Cian needed rest right now…!

“Master…” She then slowly closed her eyes and relaxed her mind, as she attempted to get some sleep as well.

… …

A few minutes after the disturbance that had occurred in the Northern Border—the news about the raid in one of the largest influential Gang inside the Demon City spread out like wildfire…

Indeed, in such a cold and chilly land, there was this room that was particularly elegant. The temperature of the room was quite comfortably warm due to the existence of the [Fire Stone] that was displayed around the room and was constantly emitting heat. And even though the furnishings in the room were simple, they revealed exquisiteness everywhere. When one sees it, one's heart would feel happy.

In a large hall, a lady dressed in a heavily-embroidered, blue robe with a golden crown on her head was playing with a cube of sparkling crystal. The refreshing feeling at her fingertips seemed to touch her very soul. She was sitting in an elegant and fur laded couch. She positioned one of her legs over the other, rested her face in her right hand.

There were all sorts of carvings on the room and a few statues surrounded it, giving it an imposing look.

Inside the room, two rows of people wearing black clothed robe could be found. They all looked at the lady seated above them with anxiety and panic, they trembled on every movement the lady made.

The lady was beautiful with hair like thin strands of Sapphire, having a very beautiful luster and wonderful ambiance. Her skin was soft like cream, delicate like snow. Her beauty was comparable to the moonlight and was alluring enough to bring all the men in the nation to their knees. Like a fairy that does not taint herself with the mortal, she sat there softly, and her every movement exudes grace and nobility, and with the rhythm of a gentle song.

Beneath her seat, several people wearing black robes and armors were whispering to each other by the side. Their eyes all locked onto the several pieces of yellow paper at the top of the table in front of the couch the red-robed woman was sitting nonchalantly.

"You have monitored him these past few days, finding nothing. And when this thing happened so suddenly, no one of you was there, watching him?" She coldly looked at the yellow paper placed on top of the table for a second before turning her gaze to the people standing before her. The smile she showed them was gentle and soft, but her words she spoke were emotionless and lifeless.

“… …” A cold breeze swept passed the room enough to chill one’s soul. However, no one dared to move.

Several people immediately knelt on one knee. “Forgive us, your majesty! We certainly didn’t leave our post intentionally…however, for some unknown reason…we started leaving away as if being bewitched by a fox, wanting to do something, wanting to find something, we just couldn’t understand a sudden urge and…” the person wearing a black robe anxiously explained with a pale face.

“Excuses?”

“No, your, your majesty! We didn’t—!!” the blacked robed man immediately prostrated. The empress lowered her head to look at him and then, without prior any warning, violently swung a kick at him. Bang! A clear crack sound was made. The black robed man flew out like a piece of cotton and crashed heavily into the wall. Ah, no. it’s not the right word. What flew out wasn’t his body, but his corpse.

The blue-robed woman stood up, flicked her hair, picked up a long whip that was barbed on one side and walked over.

“Do you really think I would believe such nonsense? If you said you were attacked, I might even believe it. But you were bewitched by a fox…? Is that it? You, all of you, at the same time? Simultaneously? People of your abilities were bewitched without you, knowing nor realizing anything…?” A cold voice rang out, holding thick sarcasm. "That's quite something." The corner of the lady's mouth curved. Holding the barbed whip in her hand, she asked, “Whether all of you are real innocents or not and you are really attacked without you knowing anything of it—so what? Isn’t that means you are all too weak for this Palace? What would this Palace expect from all of you from now on then?!”

“Your Majesty please forgives!!”

“Your Majesty please forgives!!”

“Your Majesty, we know our wrongs! Please forgive!!”

They hurriedly prostrated and cried out in desperation. They know their master’s character and she wouldn’t bat an eyelid in killing them. The blue-robed lady snorted after hearing those cries and immediately after, the people kneeling on the ground, trembled and vomited out blood, their faces pallid. The lady in blue robed lashed out the barbed whip on the people shivering in front of her, a few times. Blood splattered, torn clothes and flesh splattered in the ground, but no one dared to even utter a groan much less evade. They accepted the lashing while biting their lips in agony. After a few minutes, when the stench of blood covered the room and the walls and ground were painted in red, the blue-robed lady finally stopped. She snorted in disdain.

“Hmph! Be grateful that I am no mood of killing right now…but next time you give me this kind of unsatisfactory result, all of you will pay for it with your lives! Do you understand?!”

““““Y, yes! We understand your majesty!””””

“Then, get out of my sight!” the blue-robed lady muttered with impatience. Immediately after, with a gust of wind, all the people kneeling in the room immediately disappeared as if swept by the wind, leaving the blue-robed lady with an expression of deep pondering. Then, she slowly walked over to the couch, returning to her former position. She picked up the yellow crass, animal-skin-like paper.

“…what do you think about it?” She asked, to no particular recipient as her gaze was fixed on the yellow paper. Reading it again, her elegant, almond-shaped eyes were slightly squinted and her facial expression was calm. At this point in time, her usually fearsome face looked much gentler. Her azure colored dress hugged her body tightly, revealing her perfect figure.

“…no matter who it was, the one who attacked the Bloodhole Gang is surely a very powerful person!” One of the two young women behind her answered. She looked around twenty years old. She was tall and slender, and she looked very pretty.

“…I even heard that he had defeated all the people within the Bloodhole Gang and even its three leaders singlehandedly. This person, I fear this person is above our strength.” The other young woman was twenty – twenty-five years old with beautiful red hair and sharp features but still beautiful. She has long sharp ears, even longer than that of the elves, roughly a palm in length.

“You know that’s not what I’m talking about…” Blue Bird muttered in a lethargic manner. “…this person and my dear baby servant, don’t you think they are the same person?”

“…?!” Both women were startled and their eyes widened in shock. “Forgive me for my rudeness, your majesty, but even if you say that, to say it’s Prince Aanuel, it’s not something I couldn’t believe.”

“That’s right, your majesty. No matter how much you praise the young prince, he couldn’t possibly possess this kind of power…!” The older one hurriedly added. “…even if you say he was really that enigmatic figure: White Masked Phantom Thief that had caused chaos in the Demon Capital, it’s quite hard to believe. There is no proof or evidence, or even the least bit rumor of him possessing such power and abilities, much less confirming such matter…”

“…heh, I would probably share the same thought…if this was before I met him again,” Blue Bird smiled faintly. “I don’t know what happened to that brat but I can affirm this, my baby servant had grown up—grown into something I couldn’t even understand…” Recalling Cian’s appearance and attitude she had seen in that night, Blue Bird’s heart couldn’t help but skipped a beat. For me to be unable to see through a man for the very first time…

If you tell me that he doesn’t have any relation to this White Masked Phantom Thief that had suddenly appeared in the Demon Capital and then this person who had demolished the Bloodhole Gang singlehandedly, Blue Bird would never believe it. After recalling what her subordinates, that should have been monitoring him have experienced this time, this suspicion becomes even stronger—bewitch? Heh, just what kind of sorcery did you use… my baby servant…?

In the first place, to even able to spot them all, how did you do it?

What kind of secret are you hiding from me…Princess Blue Bird?

“Your Majesty,” The two female servants stared at their master’s expression and couldn’t help but feel shocked. To them, their master has always been passive, not showing any interest in anything. However, when she met that young prince, their master suddenly started becomes strange, showing this kind of curiosity and interest. To even deploy the entire Shadow Corps just to monitor one single person is unprecedented…!

“Anyway, tighten the people observing and monitoring my baby servant. Any strange things that happened and occur must be reported back, no matter how little and tiny it is…!” Blue Bird leaned on the couch and smiled coldly. “…do you understand, Juvi, Ogua…?” When she spoke, there were not any of the usual amiable appearances and her eyes made one cold. ‘Any failure would not be tolerated!’ her gaze seemed to say.

The two female servants flattered with a smile, "Your Majesty, rest assured. Everything is handled by us and when we do things, naturally there would not be any mistakes." Although they are skeptical and doubtful about this charade but it was still Blue Bird’s orders, they dare not object and complain. Besides, whether this sudden curiosity and interest are good for their Master’s always lethargic and out of enthusiasm or bad, they didn’t know. But for now, they wouldn’t think anything else and just obeyed without any words!

Blue Bird’s expression only then eased down before she said, "I naturally trust you both since you are my most trusted people.”

“Your words are too good for us, your majesty,”

“Hmm,” Blue Bird grinned and her beautiful azure eyes twinkled in the expectation—now then my baby servant, what kind of entertainment do you have for me…? Let me savor it well…!
