V2 Chapter 176
…the other option is, if Cian can’t pull Levelia into his side before he can take action, he can only forget about possessing her.
Even if he can capture her and force her to be with him, it was not his style. He might be a scumbag, but he would never force himself towards women—Aanuel could, but now that he was Cian Cahlo from outside to inside, he was not fond of such foolish actions. Unless it’s the very last option… but, although he doesn't want to admit it, Cian also understands that if he did that, no matter what he does, Levelia’s heart would never be his.
Cian knows that she possesses that troublesome pride, chivalry, or whatever they call it.
He can kill her, of course, but now that he had obtained her heart and body, he was quite hesitant to pull the trigger.
Damn it!!
As I thought, I really don’t like impromptu events that don’t follow my script…!
One mistake and all would crumble in an instant. If I know about the Black Lands, I would not have approached Levelia. I could have killed her easily, without regrets. And everything would have been fine, and things will still go as planned.
Cian let out a bitter sigh. I can only try… see if she will go with me, if not— he closed his eyes for a while. When he opened his eyes again, the usual indifferent and callous expression resurfaces. He decided to leave everything to fate. If she chose him, then that's all good, but if not, they are not meant to be. He can't stop here just because of a single woman.
"... ...?" The small snake opened her eyes as she felt something wrong. Following the strange creepy feeling that was affecting her, and she found Cian.
—what’s wrong with this guy?
His aura suddenly changes abruptly—cold and full of killing intent. He was normal a while ago… the small snake’s eyes narrowed in suspicion. And this dark aura, what the hell is this? Werebeast can't possibly possess such thick, dark aura. It's even stronger than the Death Knight.
A Werebeast. And not only that, he's also a Dark Magic User. What a weird combination.
A flash of amazement, at the same time, suspicion appeared on the small snake's expression. Sadly, Cian was deep in thoughts that he had not noticed this. The small snake watched him for a while, and when she couldn't think of anything else, she could only shook her head, and closed her eyes, returning to her sleep. Whatever, this guy had always been weird… this is nothing new.
I wouldn't be surpised if this Werebeast is actually a Demon with thick dark energy.
Although the small snake hated being treated as a pet by him, however, the energy that Cian was giving her was something she just can’t go without. She can only endure and tolerate. Since the first time, the small snake learned that Cian’s energy is a vital part of her recovery, as well as advancement, she immediately set aside her hatred and behaved.
If she can absorb more of his energy, she could finally break through the origin state, and awaken the ancestral blood within her, enabling her to have a chance in breaking through Demi-God Realm in the future!
She had waited for this opportunity for hundreds of years!
Now that she finally found a chance… she would be foolish to waste it.
As for this humiliation, well, she can just kill this lecher later.
Does this little demon want to beat me? Hmph! Fat chance! Don’t even think of escaping from my hands after this! I’m going to make you live you might as well die!
The small snake’s eyes flashed a momentarily cold killing intent. This small snake was not actually just a mere magical beast. It was far from being simple like what Cian was thinking.
However, for this guy to be from the vast world…when did the outside become so horrifying that a little demon like this lecher would appear?
Did the world somehow change when I was not paying attention?
Those idiots didn’t tell me about this! It seems like the outside world was much more complicated than I thought—though, it would take a few dozen years at least before the Barrier completely weakens and I can leave this place!
… … …
After contemplating on what to do, in which he could not think of any better solution to his current problem, Cian could only sigh and set the problem aside for later. For now, he wanted to focus his attention on exploring the Black Lands, and collect as much information as he could. Though, most of the time, he spent his time flirting with Amadea that made the small snake roll her eyes in annoyance.
They spent their time together like newlyweds, deepening their relationship when Cian once again decided to explore the forest.
This is the only way he knows to not think about what's going on in the future. And what kind of tragedy he would cause, that he would never like. He's somewhat bothered that he might be the one to cause Levelia's death--that poor, innocent woman, falling in his hand. Just like what had happened a long time ago when he was a boy, where he was forced to kill the only friend he had and nurtured, loved and adored--his little pet dog; Shawarma.
Now, it's as if it was happening again.
That nightmare.
Cian doesn't know what will happen in the future. No matter how much he plans ahead, meticulously, or not, there will always be a difference from what he had expected. He was not omnipotent, all-knowing God. And this bothers him. Everything not in his hand. But there is nothing he can do.
There was no use in waiting around worrying anxiously. He can only hope and wish for the best while being prepared for the worst. Aside from that, there's nothing.
Cian could spend the rest of his time worrying about what the future holds, or he could experience fulfillment through the adventures he will have in this strange, and enchanted land.
Obviously, he will choose the latter without hesitation!
... ...
This time, Cian was planning to head towards the west direction.

While walking through the woods, suddenly, a draconic roar was transmitted from somewhere, reverberating through the entire forest and even causing it to shake. The forest trees waved around hysterically, and dead leaves to swirl in the air.
Even an oppressive pressure appeared, causing every creature to lie in the ground, shaking.
This roar… is this a Dragon’s roar?
Cian had actually never seen a Dragon personally. Although he had seen some such as wyverns and land dragons, however, they are considered lesser dragons. They are part of the Dragon Family but more like distant relatives.
Dragons in myth and legends are called Dragons simply but their number is quite low. In fact, there were only less than ten known by many, scattered in the entire world, not just in this continent.
They are neutral creatures…in which, if disturb would cause havoc and disaster without any thoughts. They are the very manifestation of Destruction, with no qualms of whatsoever happens to anyone in this world. Hence, no one is willing to disturb them. Much less, trying to stay in a place close to its lair.
Most races feared the Dragons, and even the Demon Empire was wary of offending this race. Fortunately though, aside from known forbidden lands where some dragons inhabited, most dragons stayed outside the Continent. No one knows where they go. Some will only come back once in fifty to a hundred years. Some will appear only after a thousand years.
According to the history that Cian knows, there were some people who tried to befriend and even attempt to pull the Dragons in their side. However, their attempt fails. Dragons are arrogant, and basically all creatures in the world are insects to them. Well, with their power, that seemed reasonable.
But this roar… to think that there were also Dragons in this place… it seems like trying to conquer this place would take much effort…
Cian’s brows furrowed. Worst was that, depending on the roars that echoed from time to time, it seems like they came from different creatures. There is definitely more than one ancient dragon in this strange land, judging from the sound, there are actually around two to three dragons!
Cian grumbled inwardly, it seems like he really walked into the den of monsters.
The Manticore’s eyes suddenly flickered; it vigilantly watched its surroundings. It followed Cian closely, and its step was careful as if it was stepping into a frozen river. Though, if one watches it from behind, the way it walks has a great resemblance on the way cat's walk. Graceful, and elegant.
“Little guy, you really lived in a den of monsters before? Just what kind of little monster are you?” Cian smiled wryly as he strokes the small snake’s head with a helpless expression. It’s really hard to imagine that a small snake like this one could live in this kind of place.
It must have been born not too long ago judging from its size.
The small snake seemed extremely dissatisfied that Cian called it a little monster; it angrily bit into Cian’s arm. Its venom was getting stronger that even Cian had felt the numbness on the bitten part. It seems like the small guy’s power is returning, recovering, along with the intensity of its venom.
“Alright, alright, you win.” Cian grabbed the small snake’s head and separated it from him for a bit. “But don’t bite,”
The small snake glared hatefully at Cian and tried to bit him again, and even trashed her tail, which looked flexible like rubber, but when it hit, it was hard as steel. Hence, annoyed, he countered with a flick of his finger—his hits are no joke, you know. Even though it’s just a poke, Cian had to go easy on the small snake’s body and hold back—to its small head.
The small snake’s head moved back so it won’t die, but still, it must have been painful. It curled pitifully, burrowing its head on its tail, all while scornfully staring at him with teary eyes.
That’s because you’re being annoying, saying that, Cian once again help her heal its swollen head by channeling his magic power. In an instant, instead of pain, the small snake felt comfortable warmth that surge through her body.
Even the innate injuries she had before, hidden dangers she was trying to mend slowly by using Cian's aura as a suppression for the corpse poison, were recovering incredible speed. Cian’s magic power is truly too compatible with her own—the small snake thought as it relished in the warm feeling.
I thought I would need a few months until my full recovery. However, it seems like it wouldn’t even take a month if this continues—this bastard, whether he was her lucky charm or not, hmph, when I’m fully recovered, let’s see where you can run from me.
The small snake was still glaring at him, but it didn’t dare to bite back again. It seems like it had learned its lesson. When it glared at him, it was extremely adorable. Those child-like expressions on her eyes... Cian mused with a smug expression. This little guy is really intelligent.
With his index finger, he gently strokes the small snake’s head not knowing the venomous thoughts and plans of the small harmless-looking creature for him.
After they entered the mountainous region, they could clearly make out a lot of huge paw prints.
Without a doubt, all of them belong to the fierce giant beasts, perhaps even Dragons!
It seems like the western Region was where giant monsters and Dragons inhabited.
Cian walked through the woods with the Manticore; Leona and the small snake he named Lamia. He found many new monsters he had not yet encountered before along with varying tastes that had greatly satisfied his palate. However, sadly he was unable to plunder even a single skill, which made him somewhat disappointed. Well, the added attributes in his strength, speed, and constitution were much welcome so it was not really a problem.
Cian thought that their adventure would remain the same as yesterday, however, that was a misconception.
An hour after leaving from Amadea’s area, Cian met a strange creature being chased by a large reptilian-like being.
The one being chased has a naked body of a girl, with wings as arms and talons as feet.
Harpy… this name appeared in Cian’s mind. However, if he was not mistaken, rather than harpies, in this world they are called [Varkas].
The one who was chasing the Harpy was a monster that looks like a reptilian monster with scaled bodies, spiky backs, large bat-like ears, and large strange eyes, with slit pupils. They have webbed hands and long briskly tail. When their jaws opened, their scary sharp teeth that looked like that of a shark could be seen, appearing menacing.
Cian was not familiar with this monster.
They don’t look like lizardmen either… what kind of creatures are these?
But why do they look almost similar to the monsters in that Gremlin Movie?
Well, whatever, let’s just call them Gremlin then…
Cian continued to watch from a safe distance. There were originally four Harpies. However, they were being hunted down slowly. Although they can fly, while their enemies are not, but for some reason, the Gremlin-like monsters are holding crossbows and were shooting them from above, with ropes at the tail of the arrows.
For a monster, their level of technology is quite praiseworthy. They even beat the goblins in terms of using human weapons!
Oh, another one… a pity.
Another harpy was hit by an arrow, piercing through its abdomen while trying to escape.
Unfortunately, there were more than ten Gremlin-like creatures scattered in the forest for an ambush. Each of them was using nets and crossbow—it seems like they are too familiar and accustomed to hunting Harpies, Cian can't help but admire them being incredibly systematic.
These disgusting guys… do they have some sort of civilization in this place?
“Aaaahhh!! !@#@!!”
The four harpies were reduced to three, one terribly injured, and still being dragged by a Gremlin, dead or alive, unknown. While two were placed in a rattan-like cage, bounded and full of bleeding wounds. If not treated immediately, these girls will die. As for the last one, she was still struggling, trying to fly higher while her leg was being pulled with a rattan-like rope, attached to the arrow that had pierced the Harpy’s talon.
“…?”
Leona looks at Cian as if waiting to see what he wanted to do.
However, this indeed left a bad taste in my mouth. These Harpies are still quite beautiful girls. Being hunted and slaughtered like this makes my heart grieve.
Alright, let’s save them…!
Cian decided. Hence, with the Manticore taking their attention, he went around the area and started assassinating the Gremlins that were hiding behind the bushes and trees. Muffled sound echoed, but because of the continuously screaming and crying of the harpies, and the noises coming from the forest. Not a single one noticed anything wrong.
The Mantis stalk the Cicada, unaware of the Oriole behind... perhaps this would be the best way to describe what is currently happening, as the hunter becomes the hunted.
The battle only lasted a few minutes.
Nothing dramatic happens either.
Taking advantage of the surprise attack, most Gremlins could only wait as magic bullets pierced through their skulls and daggers on their throat. Despite their scary and ugly faces, their defenses are not as amazing as Scaled Beasts. Though most Gremlins were actually quite strong, their scales can block most weapons and their speed and strength were also not the least bit inferior to elite demons.
Sadly, they can only die since Cian was the one that wanted their lives.
Even if the Grim Reaper was here to protect them, the Gods of Death would also be hard-pressed to maintain their lives.
… … …
