V2 Chapter 109
Exactly how powerful was Cian’s will power, boosted by the {Night’s Eye}, he feared even he himself was also not very clear.
Will/Spirit power attack would directly injure the soul, so he didn’t dare to use it with all his strength. But the strength behind his attack can still make normal elite demons blanked out, or worst, even faint. Even so, Bluebird only furrowed her beautiful finely trimmed brows. She smiled faintly, amused and then her aura becomes even stronger, suppressing Cian even more.
This greatly startled Cian. He thought he was already almost catching up with her in power, but to think that this is the distance between them...
Cian smiled bitterly.
Now, almost Bluebird’s entire aura was suppressing Cian. He felt universe like vast power was pressuring everywhere in his body. He felt incomparably severe pain in his internal organs as if they were being burned down, and also felt as if a thousand-kilogram boulder was pressing against his chest making him difficult to breathe. If not for his strong steel-like will power protecting his body and his strong pain tolerance, he feared that the bones inside his body would have already turned into a pile of meat paste a long time ago, and he would have displayed an unsightly sight in front of her; like letting out tears, here at this very moment.
That would be humiliating.
However, fortunately, Bluebird knows her limit.
When Cian finally showed a pained expression, Bluebird’s aura immediately vanished in thin air, causing Cian to finally able to breathe.
“Indeed, you have become stronger…much, in this short time as well.” Bluebird let out a beautiful smile that could make flowers shame in comparison--satisfied. "Although I'm quite intrigued by this, unexpected surprise from this rapid growth of yours, Still, I'm happy and delighted that you are finally willing to bare your fangs. You do know that I'm already feeling annoyed with you always displaying this annoying false bravado of showing weakness and cowardness whenever I do this. I take it, you are about to finally start on your own...little schemes~"
“You did that, just to test my power out? You should have warned me beforehand—I felt dying,” Cian smiled faintly. His face becomes abnormally white and he braces himself, but upon closer look, he had retreated small half-a-step.
He glared at Bluebird with a mischievous smile, as if taunting and teasing her at the same time. Then, he suddenly threw up a mouthful of blood. Even though blood was flowing from the corner of his mouth, he was smiling as before, which looked a kind of indescribable evil and weird.
“Oh? You are not going to hide anymore?” Bluebird smiled mischievously.
Disregarding Cian’s current condition, she stared at Cian’s expression admiringly. She had withheld her hand so as to not leave a fatal injury, so she knows that Cian wouldn’t be hurt gravely by anyway. And, with the demon’s natural physique, this kind of injury would recover in no time.
“What’s there to hide…I don’t think I have anything to hide. My mother once told me, that I suck at hiding things as it completely reflected in my face like an open book. So I completely don’t understand what you are talking about, your Excellency,” Cian smirk.
“… Doesn’t matter. I had already known of it long ago.”
Looking at Cian’s that innocent-sheep appearance, Bluebird rolled her eyes, then turning around, she walked inside.
Knew of it long ago? Then, why are you still trying to bait me? Cian sneered inwardly. Although Cian was puzzled about why was Bluebird allowing him to enter her room this easily and without any suspicion—though disregarding that test just now, but his legs however faithfully reacted to his thoughts and involuntarily followed after her.
After entering, Cian discovered that his thoughts were wrong. This place was not really the lady’s bedchamber, rather a place similar to a drawing-room. Bluebird’s bedroom should be further inside. Looking at Cian’s disappointed as well as relieved expression, Bluebird had a smile yet not a smile on her. Then, as if performing magical tricks, bottles of wine and several plates of pastries appeared on the table between them.
After that, she said with a smile: “Little sly customer, don’t let your imagination run wild, excessive thinking is a bad thing, don’t you know that?”
Cian squinted his eyes looking towards Bluebird and said with a naughty smile: “Don’t think? If I don’t think then am I still a man? A pretty woman inviting a man in her abode deep in the night—only a eunuch would not feel anything about it.”
Bluebird chuckled in amusement. She poured a cup of wine and handed it over to Cian and said: “Drink, this is the Dwarf clan’s special Thousand Herb Berry Wine I had found a few years ago. Its age is at most several hundred years old, lucky you.”
“Can’t say lucky when my internal organs are currently in shambles from your little prank,” Cian took the wine cup, and lightly flicked at the back of the hand of Bluebird, but Bluebird just leisurely retracted her hand as if nothing had happened, and indifferently looked at him.
Cian drank this cup of wine, and sure enough, this was a lot mellower compared those wine he had drunk in the Avidhorn’s Mansion he had drunk before, and really left a rich aftertaste in his mouth. It tasted heavenly…
“What? Those are just scratches… with some little wine; they would disappear in an instant,”
Indeed, when Cian drunk the wine and poured it on his throat, a comfortable warmth immediately rushed inside his body. As expected of the wine from the famous Clan of Dwarves, it’s not just mere wine, it seems.
“So you are leaving… for the human world?”
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
“That’s right. It’s time for me to spread my wings, and see the world for what it’s worth with my own two eyes,” Cian replied with a grin. His heart calming and his internal organs seemed to be recovering at a rapid speed. He took his wine cup again and drank it. Now his expression relaxed a lot.
“Bluebird, do you truly ignore the affair of the world? If the entire Continent is an all-out war, then what are you planning to do?”
Seeing Bluebird’s casual and leisurely expression, Cian’s guts rose up and he carefully asked. He even called out her name so casually. This impertinence would have made a normal man, no matter who they are, in the road to hell. However, Cian didn't care and his expression was as casual and handsome as always.
Cian had already lain down all pretenses and acts. This is to show his own sincerity. He thought that if someone like Bluebird come out to help him, then any matters would be a lot easier.
Obviously, Bluebird would not care about this. However, she still shook her head and laughed elegantly: “I, this old woman is perfectly content staying here, I don’t want to intervene in any dispute. Since, you are a prodigy, and also an expert at playing schemes and intrigues, you dealt with it. As long as you are a bit careful and act cautiously, sooner or later the entire Continent will be yours.”
Cian made a wry smile, now the situation was complicated. Forget about the entire continent, even here in his homeworld, the political struggle inside the Stormfury Demon Empire was getting more and more violent, and the full-scale war against the other races was also near at hand.
What’s making things worse as they are now, various powers were beginning to surface, such as the three Great Organizations in the Demon Empire; Lilith’s Sin, Eastern Tyrants, and the Demon Gate. Just thinking about the current circumstances, he would have a headache. Much less, he was still wondering on what to do about his so-called classmates that were happily role-playing as Heroes and seemed to be quite absorbed in it.
Dealing all these kinds of stuff, even Cian felt his head would snap out of him.
As if understanding about Cian’s deep thoughts, Bluebird smiled faintly. She suddenly asked; “Since you are going out now, do you really think you are ready?”
Cian smiled bitterly. “Ready or not, I wouldn’t know it unless I took my first step.”
“Perhaps. But the undercurrents of not only the entire Continent but also within the Demon Empire itself, are surging nowadays. Perhaps you will stir up a fire only to burn yourself; you should be very clear about this. If my guess is correct, then you would not just face other races, but also your own…if you recklessly show your tail, you would be a great marker for a target. You should have known of that with that monstrous intelligence of yours,” Bluebird stared at Cian and said.
“There’s no adventure without danger, dear,” Cian shrugs. “My own people seek the doom of the infamous trash of the Demon Empire—what they call it, purification? Cleansing? Whatever nice-sounding, flower words they are, in the end, all of them wanted me dead.”
“… you know that, and yet you still going to rush head-on in that terrifying storm—I don’t know what to call you; brave or just plain foolish.” Bluebird covered his lips and giggled.
“There’s no absolute sanctuary, your Excellency. You know that better than me. If I don’t keep up my game, the scoreboard will just rise up with no stopping, and I will be left behind if I don’t do anything." he sighs. He then picked up his cup and took a sip, relishing in the taste.
"My brother’s momentum is rushing headlong into the goal, either he's arrogant or just confident that no one can steal the ball and block him. Going straight towards the keeper, which is my Mother.” Cian said with a wry smile.
“If nothing is to be done, I would be just like a sitting duck…if I don’t make my move now, wouldn’t everything be too late when I did decide in the future…?”
“I don’t think that’s the case…” Bluebird grinned. “The power you had amassed in this short two years, even I couldn’t help but greatly admire and full with awe. I wonder what you have done and your secret in developing such force. I want a piece of advice or two for it,”
She used a gaze that could kill people at Cian as if she wanted to swallow him whole.
Like a bird eyeing her prey.
“Well, I’m sorry but I’m not quite certain as to what you are talking about.” Cian smiled faintly.
Even if the sky falls, Cian would never admit things in front of Bluebird. Although he was growing a fondness and good impression on the enigmatic woman, Cian would be a fool to lay his cards in front of her.
With a helpless smile, Cian stared at Bluebird, a bitter smile appearing on his face. He looked as if he was truly wronged by her; “You always say this and accuse me, this civilize and law-abiding citizen, with no clear evidence. Even I could get angry, you know. Developing a force? What’s that? Isn’t that dangerous? It’s something smart men would stay away from…much less, me. I don’t even have the strength to truss a chicken.”
Having heard what Cian had said, coldness flashed in the eyes of this beautiful woman, but a smile appeared on her face as if nothing had happened, and replied; “Say what you want and deny it for all I care. You know that I already figure it out long ago…just that you don’t want to acknowledge it. You’re just being a sore loser. And I’m not interested to care about that…”
“Well, I can’t do anything if that’s what you think. Just that… next time, show some proof that whatever you call him; Killer, right? That, yeah, that Killer is me. And that, whatever garden, likesoever, is mine. Fufufu, you’re even saying that {Adam’s Company} is also mine, which I really think you are overestimating me.” Cian chuckled in amusement as he continued to drink. He was becoming fond of this drink. “…should I be happy and proud that you think highly of me? Or have a headache in that extremely high expectation from you—which, I don’t think I can achieve, no matter what I do,”
His complexion already turning rosier, and not just his body recovered already, he was even getting a bit tipsy.
Just a few cups and it’s already hitting home…
What an incredible drink…!
“Ah, I will surely possess it by the time we meet again.”
Bluebird snorted in annoyance.
Cian laughed carefreely.
In this past year, his fear against Bluebird had already almost diminished. Although there was still some anxiety and discomfort, it was on the level of tolerance.
Cian didn’t like fearing someone—he might look like someone’s who plans before attacking, but his heart was more arrogant than anyone in this world. He liked everything under his palm and that if he found someone he couldn’t figure out or defeat, his heart would shake and his confidence always suffered a blow.
He didn’t like such feelings.
Bluebird, watching Cian laughing like a child, her gaze softened and her lips curled into a smile. Pouring a mouthful of wine on her throat, Bluebird heave a helpless sigh; “Baby, what is your end objective? Could it be that you also want to be the Overlord of the entire Dawn Continent?”
Cian stared at Bluebird, surprised. He then thought for a bit, then shaking his head, he said with a smile: “Overlord? I am not interested. If I can gain an Empire, then I’ll just throw it to my mom. I won’t pretend that I know how to rule a kingdom or a country. I don’t have such skillset engraved on me—I don't even know how to run a small city, much less an entire Continent. I was only born to kill, nurtured to end lives. Ruling is not part of my resume. I like having lives dancing on my palm, but I don’t want to be burdened for their well-being. I’m just not cut out for that…”
Like hell, he wanted to become an emperor or a King who had to constantly worry about the livelihood of common people. Even for those strangers, he doesn't know about.
Fighting to win over state power was easy. The difficult part was defending the position. Not to mention the fact that he didn’t want to spend the remainder of his life doing that. He just wanted to leisurely travel all around the world with his women.
Cian said with a mischievous smile.
“I just want to go wherever I love and do whatever I want. Freedom, you call it—though it seems like other people also call it as Selfishness. But for me, I prefer calling it—Privilege,”
