V2 Chapter 143
‘… Give me a favor, take this to Bursian Inn and look for a woman named Sibylla. Tell her, that I might be late but I will surely return after a few days at the very most. Tell her, do not be worried,’
While trying to calm her heart, she remembered how Cian stared at her with an affectionate smile as he bends over and kissed her lips. He deeply looked at her eyes, as if trying to transmit his confidence to her. 'I won't die' It's as if he was telling her that.
At that time, Levelia opened her mouth, but she suddenly felt as if something was blocking her throat, and a layer of mist appeared in her beautiful eyes, but she still nodded vigorously.
He then rubbed her head. His expression was both gentle and helpless. This is the first time Levelia saw such an expression on this mysterious youth’s face, who was always wearing an indifferent and calm demeanor ever since they had met for the first time. Her heart suddenly felt empty as she seemed to realize what he wants to do.
Levelia could only stare at him with big eyes. She wanted to stretch out her hand to pull him, but even her fingers couldn’t move.
“…I’m going, you must be careful.”
He retrieved his hand from her head and turned. He walked forwards. His steps were firm and calm.
Doesn’t matter if it’s a person or a Celestial; in the space where time flies, there’ll always be some things that even if you glanced at them once, will leave a heavy imprint engraved in the mind.
No matter how many years have passed, whenever that page is turned, the images will come back as new as ever.
At this time, Cian’s back carved a timeless heavy imprint on the back of her mind.
Looking at the straight chest of that seemingly immature young man that had wormed his way through her heart in a shameless and roguish way, in her eyes at this very moment, he looked like a hero that can take the world.
“…I won’t die.” He glanced at her. That smug annoying grin returning in his face. “Let’s see each other again, my dear Leve…”
He was walking towards the Red Crown Dragon Serpent without fear—and like a barrier, cutting out a safe region for her; he stood, wanting to confront the powerful monster, in order for her and her friends to live. Though, at that moment, his appearance didn’t look an ounce cool or chic. His hair was scattered. His whole body was soaked in blood. His left hand was hanging weakly like it has been broken. or perhaps it still was…?
“Ng.” Levelia could only nod her head, though her heart was crying in pain.
From that moment on, this sentence had engraved in her heart, as long as she doesn’t see his corpse, she will never believe he was already dead.
... ...
Levelia opened her palm; there a small gold coin could be found. This was what he gave to her. But this is not an ordinary gold coin, and completely different from any gold coins she had seen before.
On the surface of the gold coin, an image of a tree with roots and branches with leaves coiling around in a woven form, and curving to form a semi-circle. Beneath the tree was letters she didn’t recognize, perhaps was in the form of an Ancient Language; [PARADISUS].
She didn’t know what it was, nor does the image represent. When she flipped the coin, the image on the back of the coin was different—instead of a Tree, there was a [0] and beneath it, [NūLLA] was in the same strange ancient language.
Just what is this coin represent…?
Just who was he?
And who was this Sibylla?
Levelia had asked him about that, but Cian just smiled and planted a kiss on her forehead. ‘You’ll know,’ he said simply. ‘…but with this, I can guarantee to you that I won’t die…’ with those words, she doesn’t have any choice but to agree.
Even still, the anxiety and pain in her heart cannot be erased. Then, her mind wandered in the attack—just why did Magical Beast Horde suddenly appeared in the periphery of the Inner Area?
This is illogical!
The information they had gathered had told them that the Four-Winged Basilisk is indeed in the Periphery of the Inner Area—and that information had never been doubted as the Four-Winged Basilisk often came down to the Outer Region and attack the people that entered the mountain.
As for how it was able to exit the Outer Region, it means that it originally belongs there and with its advancement strength, moved to the Inner Area. That’s the only reason, why a Monster of the level of the Four-Winged Basilisk could exit the barrier of the Outer Region unimpeded and shows itself in the Outer Region.
Still, as an Outer Region originally, going into the deeper part of the Inner Region would be close to impossible due to the powerful monsters living there. It would be tantamount to suicide if the Basilisk forced its way towards there. Hence, there’s a high chance that it was living in the periphery of the Inner Region to be safe.
And the powerful Monsters and Monster Horde was rarely found in this part of the Inner Region.
And yet… why did this happen?
If this occurred, wouldn’t hunting down the Four-Winged Basilisk be impossible?
And besides, humans fighting and attracting Monster Horde, although probable, but not to this extent!
It’s as if, most powerful monsters had come out from their lair and roaming around the periphery of the Inner Region for the sole purpose of hunting them. Did the intelligent monsters get to know that a lot of humans are trying to enter the Inner Region?
Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings.
Impossible! Even with the sightings of humans, most powerful monsters would not care about them and just minded their own business as long as they don’t step into their territory. Then why are there many monsters and even powerful ones that could only be seen in the deepest part of the Inner Region here?
Levelia didn’t know, nor could she understand.
If this was just coincidence, then this one hell of bad luck!
Levelia shook her head. She could only grit her teeth and tried to leave the Inner region as soon as possible. No matter what is happening right now, venturing inside the Inner Region is the worst decision!
“Leader, is this really fine?” Aerean who was following closely behind her, asked. Her expression was full of worry and regret—she too was moved deeply from Cian’s sacrifice and also deeply regret leaving him.
“He will be fine…” Levelia shook her head and replied. “There’s nothing to worry about him, he would follow us later.”
Aerean stared at Levelia and sigh. They might feel regret and sorrow for leaving a comrade behind, but the one who was hurting the most right now…should be her.
About their relationship, although Aerean didn’t have any proof, she was already certain that their Clan leader indeed has some ambiguous relationship with that youth. At first, she was quite uncertain and even doubtful due to the fact that, they just met Cian not too long ago, and he’s basically just a stranger.
There’s nothing to prove that he was trustworthy—however, just this act alone overturned those doubts and she thought he was just too good of a human being!
Aerean didn’t say anything anymore, after one last glance behind, she then sped up.
All she hopes was that this would not really be the last time they would see each other, even if the chances of that happening is extremely slim. She knows that Cian was strong, but even the most powerful in the world would still have a hard time surviving in this Forbidden Land where many powerful beasts roamed freely.
I just hope…
... …
Cian let out a sigh, as he somersaulted in the air, landing on the ground, weightless like a feather. In the landing point of his descent, a giant hole was left.
This hole looked like a crater that a meteor had created; it had a depth of almost reaching 30 meters.
He then glanced behind them, and looks at the cloud of dust and dirt and grinned—
“That should be enough,” he muttered as he felt satisfied fighting against something strong for the very first time.
However, before he could completely rejoice of his victory, suddenly his [Night’s Eye] narrowed and the bone wings behind him immediately unfolded, wrapping Cian’s body—Baaang!! the moment he did, a large earth pike struck his wings, piercing it through—and even the sharp tip that was still dripping with purple venom was just inches away from Cian’s nose.
If not for his Absolute Defense, the venomous earth pike would have pierced through his head, making another hole of his handsome face!
Cian swung his bone wings and the earth spike struck the ground in anger. His hawk eyes narrowed as he glared at the cloud of dust. There, a long slender silhouette started to rise up, with a glaring pair of small lights. With a wave of its tail, as if a gust of wind occurred, all the dirt and dust was swept away, revealing the sorry figure of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent.
The blow received by the Red Crown Dragon Serpent, which had a huge body, was undoubtedly extremely severe.
Because of Cian’s [Motion Reversal Technique] that enabled him to reverse any vectors he had touched, and used it to wreak havoc inside the monster’s body, over half of the tough scales on the Red Crown Dragon Serpent’s body had been completely broken. Its body had bright red blood that repeatedly seeped and dripped down as though it was raining.
Under the broken scales, a couple of horrifying wounds that were visible to the naked eye extended outward and almost covered his entire back.
At one glance, one appeared to be able to faintly see the dense white bones. This was caused by the terrifying impact that had exploded when its body struck the ground under that horrifying speed. The ridicule in the enormous triangular-shaped eyes could no longer be seen. Replacing it was fear, humiliation, as well as fury.
His miserable and dire looking manner no longer possessed the slightest bit of pride and arrogance of a B ranking Beast, that could strike terror in any living being.
Gritting its teeth, it glared hatefully at Cian, seemingly wanting to kill him with his gaze. Suddenly, the large serpent let out a screech filled with frustration. This tiny ant before its eyes actually able to hurt it to this degree?! Why am I losing?! How dare he challenge me?!
Thereafter, in front of Cian’s shock gaze, the red crown of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent suddenly emitted a crimson light and the head of the enormous serpent started splitting apart right from the middle...
But it was not trying to kill itself…!
…nor it was going to surrender even after experiencing Cian’s power.
"This beast is attempting to molt by force?! Is this beast insane!" Cian cried out in alarm.
His eyes widened in shock and surprise.
The Red Crown Dragon Serpent was molting by force?!
This beast had gone insane! Cian snorted in irritation. Just like humans when attempting to train their power and step into a new realm, Magical Beasts needed to find a quiet location when molting.
Getting disturbed in the middle of the process might result in mental aberration.
Magical beasts could suffer from mental aberration like humans as well. Rare cases, it would even cause their lives. This is just a foolish way to evolve. The risk was just too high…!
However, Cian never expected that this Monster was already in the brink of evolution; much less think it would actually try to evolve under this kind of circumstances!
It was apparent that it was going all out in this desperate situation!
It truly wanted to kill and devour Cian—as a payback!
To kill him, the Red Crown Dragon Serpent had completely thrown all caution to the wind.
However… even though the Red Crown Dragon Serpent was running the risk of suffering from mental aberration, it also meant that its power level would dramatically increase and might even infinitely approach the level of a True A rank Magical Beast. It would literally be like that of a King…!
An A rank Magical Beast… was a really terrifying realm.
If this beast advanced into A rank, the tides of this battle might surely turn around once again. One must know, even with Cian’s Absolute Defense, with his current strength, there was a limit to the energy he can endure.
His [Vector Body] was like a Cheat-God-like ability, that seemed to able to subdue all creations. However, in reality, it still follows the law of the world. Meaning, his [Vector Body] still corresponds to Cian’s level. If not, his mind would bear the brunt of the massively complex calculations needed to invoke all his powers.
He’s not yet a God, and his awareness, as well as Mental Power, is insufficient to calculate much faster beyond his current level and in massive amounts in just a short time. For example, even if he managed to calculate the force of a ton, what if the force became more than a thousand tons, speed as well as weight and electromagnetic fields, along with magic and stuff…?
It’s impossible for the current him…
The evolution of his brain cannot catch up on his power.
That is why evolution, realms, and levels exist in this world.
That is why even with his heaven-defying ability [Vector Body] and absolute defense, he could still be defeated by extremely powerful enemies.
Cian knows this; hence, he had never become complacent with his current level. Even with his strength that was already reaching the stage of Super experts in this world, he had never stopped being careful—that is because, in this world—
NOTHING IS ABSOLUTE!
There will always be mountain beyond Mountain,
People above People,
... and Heavens above Heavens.
The pursuit of power has always been endless…!
Therefore;
“…as if I would let you!” Cian snorted coldly and then, with his slender black sword, he rushed towards the Red Crown Dragon Serpent, wanting to stop it. However, the moment he steps closer, a shockwave struck him, sending him flying back.
His expression turned ugly.
The forehead of the Red Crown Dragon Serpent split apart and a layer of skin slowly peeled off. A wave of magical energy started surging as if a violent storm was coming.
It started…!
The intense pain caused the enormous serpent to scream in agony. Its humongous body continuously thrashed about while its tail violently slammed onto the ground, causing the entire forest to shake for a moment.
Could the Red Crown Dragon Serpent really succeed in molting?
That’s something Cian cannot allow…!
