V2 Chapter 115
“Are we going in?”
Shinonobe Hanzo, his best friend, asked, gripping his favorite dagger.
Adam Taylor glanced at his comrades. They were fellow students like him, and although they were once weak and terrified. However, after a long time, they started to man up and become courageous.
They are now standing, knowing they would not die, so they throw away their fear and fight. Of course, not all of them, but there were also those who treated this world as some sort of game, perhaps some kind of running away from reality. Even still, as long as they survive and fight, this better than being a chicken and leaving them by themselves to die alone.
Although Adam Taylor didn’t blame those who secluded themselves in the Capital in fear of fighting, he was still displeased, or probably…angry at them for their cowardice. But who was he to criticize them? Even he himself wants to run sometimes, but he held himself as he is the Hero.
His gaze turned back towards the Demon Army.
They moved in a precise line, and though the weaker monsters such as zombies, and skeletons were slow, they gradually made their way forward.
*Whooosh*
In comparison, the human army did not look organized at all. Although they are trying their best to maintain order, there are still those that were scared of the Demon Army.
“The undead are finally here!”
“Those damn bastards!”
“What should we do?!”
“It smells bad. It feels so painful since we beastmen have keen senses.”
“It’s really depressing that a graceful elf like me must fight against such corpses. The thought of it makes me want to run away right now.”
The humans, beastment, and even the graceful and beautiful looking elves fell into confusion with the appearance of the Demon Army, which was filled with more than half of undead.
{Death Temple} it seems like one of the infamous deadly demon cults they had heard about had joined in this war as well.
Adam Taylor had heard about the {Death Temple} before and their terrifying necromancy magic. However, they are extremely elusive and their numbers are low, so they barely attend this kind of conflict. But it seems like the Prince of Darkness had managed to seduce the {Death Temple} to make a move.
This war has just started to become even more troublesome…
“Hey, have you heard about Credo having a girl? It’s an elf to boot!”
“No way! That dumbass got an elf before me?!”
“Damn that bastard! I trusted only him, who is the banner of us men and always boasts with the delusion of a virgin in the drinking bout!”
“Let’s kill him!”
“Let’s murder him!”
“He can’t die though,”
“But it is not impossible to put him on the upper line of the Walie army when he flirts with a woman in broad daylight…let him have fun with the zombies then~”
“Kekeke, I like your idea, my friend… I am close with the commander, I’ll accidentally bring that up…”
“Accidentally, okay? We can’t be malicious with our brother~”
“Understood!”
“PaPaPa, Panty, let me see.”
“Shit! This idiot is currently having a delusion!”
As the army was getting unsettled from the anxiety and fear of the Demon Army, a group of young men and women was chatting as if they did not see the atrocious Demon Army advancing. Their mood and atmosphere were quite hearty and cheerful, it’s as if this was not a war they are participating but a celebration party.
When the Demon Army was finally already within considerable distance, Adam Taylor smoothly unsheathed his holy sword. He held it horizontally in front of him.
“Obey my commands!”
Bzzzzzzzzzt!
The sword, swirling with a bluish-white aura, hummed louder and it began to be coated with a terrifying amount of magic power.
“Holy Sword Durandal!!”
Wooosh.
BoooooM!
An enormous arc of light shot out from the sword’s blade as Adam Taylor slashed it down.
The enormous arc of light that almost reached over twenty meters in length mowed down the first line of the Demon Army, killing dozens in an instant. Then, without waiting, he cleared his throat and raised his sword to the heavens.
“Begiiiin!”
Adam Taylor screamed out in a voice which Abby Williams, standing beside him could only say was reminiscent of a chicken with its neck being wrung, signaling the bow unit to nock their arrows all at once and release them into the air slightly above their enemies.
Gagagagagagaa!!
Steel arrows cut through the sky.
A countless number of arrows, enough to cover the sun, flew underneath the azure sky and fell on their enemies like torrential rain. Demons and monster from all throughout the enemy army that was so orderly that they could have been a still-life painting fell one after another. And the arrows which flew from the distance so as not to be able to feel even bloodlust is efficiently slaughtering violent and mad demons in an instant.
The hit rate of a crossbow doesn’t compare with a bow and arrow. On top of that, the Human Archers have a vision comparable to the precious goggles of the Dwarves—with a certain target designation and control shooting based on attack instructions.

The start was slow and the effect was “Magic” which was low, but it could have a terrible effect as an aid for shooting.
Now, Adam Taylor, the Hero of Light understood why the elves in the Elven Forest were so strong.
With such a large scale magic skill, even an army would be slaughtered far away.
Then, naturally, the enemy began to return fire just a beat later.
Although the arrows were not that much compared to the human side, magic and cannonballs flew in the air like torrential rain. And for some reason, they can even see skeletons being thrown in the air along with the projectiles--though most broke apart upon landing, there are also those who were able to land safely and was now wreaking havoc at the center of the army, killing whatever they see.
The sky grew dark under the projectiles the two armies exchanged.
No arrows reach the back of their formation, where the archers and beautiful elven were, but the soldiers in front still dropped like flies from not that far in front of them.
After the arrows, magic attacks and cannonballs also started firing from the Human army, led by the short-sized dwarves. Even ballista and trebuchets roared as they launched their terrifying fangs to reap the lives of dozens in one attack.
Death cries sprouted up from here and there and the grassy field was beginning to be dyed red by the blood of the fallen soldiers and monsters. The sound of several thousand arrows, cannonballs, and magic whistling through the air filled the fields with what sounded like the eerie, sardonic laughter of a grim reaper.
Even now, at this very moment, there were soldiers and monsters falling to the arrows in both armies.
But this was just the beginning stage.
The war was intensifying as time passed by.
The vanguard unit of the Demon Army began to march forward without even stopping. They stepped over their comrades’ bodies and advanced in raging intensity. They seemed to be unafraid of death—well, most of them dead people anyway. Zombies and skeleton soldiers, as long their bodies were not destroyed by the magic and cannonballs, they would still advance without a stop.
And then, they finally reached a few dozen meters from the vanguard of the human army.
“Bow unit, cease fire!”
The Commander of the Army roared.
The bow unit quickly fell back at his order.
“Frontlines, prepare for battle!”
Clatter clatter!
The metallic sounds of men readying their weapons filled the air.
The Vanguard raised their shields and drew their glaives, axes, swords, spears and every kind of weapon with fierce expressions.
Even the unit behind the vanguard took out their javelins and spears.
Each and every soldier waited for Rain’s next signal with bated breath.
Rain took a deep breath and brought down his magic sword, shouting,
“Frontlines, attack! To meeeee!!”
“Wooooah!!”
Several thousand soldiers began their charge while kicking up clumps of earth and yelling to incite themselves.
The knights at the head of their formation had readied their lances and shields.
They let out a war cry as one, without any prompting, as they prepared to face against their enemy.
“Let’s do this!!! For THE EMPIRE!!!!”
“““““KILLL!!!!!””””””
With the cheers of the soldiers and warriors, Adam Taylor kicked his horse lightly and spearheaded the charge towards the Demon Army. The reddish-brown earth scattered around his like arrows, and the wind roared as it whipped around the Hero’s ears. Adam’s beloved white horse had overtaken the soldiers in front in an instant. There was nothing strange about it. After all, no living thing across the entire land could possibly match the Hero’s horse speed.
Seeing Adam Taylor’s charge at them at full speed, the ranged units deployed at either side of the Demon Army began to shoot in a hurry.
However, they misjudged their distance and most of their attacks went flying off-mark because Adam Taylor’s beloved white horse was too fast for them. The few attacks that did fly true were easily swatted aside by the Hero’s extraordinarily keen kinetic vision and his holy sword.
The distance between the two armies vanished in a blink and the Human army promptly crashed into the Demon’s Army.
The battle had truly begun.
The Knights’ armors, plenty enough to cover the earth, glistened, and the exchanging lances and magic attacks brought forth more death from both sides.
Even if they didn’t suffer fatal wounds, they would not be able to remain unharmed in a battlefield this densely packed even if all they did was fall off their horse. If they were unlucky, the wounded would be trampled underfoot the horses or monsters that were rushing in front of and behind them and would swiftly join the ranks of the dead. Moreover, they would become corpses of such a miserable state that their own parents would not be able to tell who they were.
Having an intact body would already be a miracle!
They would not be able to help a comrade who had fallen off of their horse, even if they happened to see them fall. This was especially true now that their enemies were bearing their fangs and brandishing their own claws and weapons before their very eyes.
All that a knight on the frontlines could do——was to protect themselves while slaughtering as many enemies as they could.
The Human Army fought fiercely and with bloodthirst like momentum. The monsters and demons were forced to pave a road of blood as they were skewered and slashed into pieces by the human’s sharp weapons.
Several warriors and soldiers died because of the pincer attack, but those that had died were the ones that simply ran out of luck.
The amount of damage dealt by the giants and ogres, even the horrifying ghouls was substantial.
Ghouls and Zombies threw poison which scattered and killing dozens of men in an instant, while giants and ogres swung down their clubs and logs, destroying trees and shields alike.
Amidst this terrifying war, Adam Taylor rushed straight into the enemy vanguard without slowing down and angrily shouted,
“Come at me if you wanna die!”
As he yelled, Adam Taylor swung his holy sword to the side. After its vivid afterglow subsided, four to five demons lay dead on the ground with matching wounds cutting evenly across their chests. Although they had been wearing armor and some even possessing thick hides, it had been as effective as paper before the Holy Blade.
Abby Williams clicked her tongue. Putting out an order with a hand signal to the one that was behind her. This can be transmitted more quickly and reliably than words. It was a situation that it was urgent.
Eris Loren, Abby Williams, close friend, and confidante having a Knight profession immediately understand what she meant.
“Hm?!”
Adam Taylor leaped from his horse after sensing something.
Immediately after, the eyes of a mad wolf, the size of a Ferrari, bearing the infamous name {Blood Horned Wolf} that looked like it was burning from the bush pounced at him. It was a high ranking monster that can decimate a small platoon of soldiers in an instant.
However, when Adam Taylor was about to counter-attack, his eyes caught a familiar figure. Eris Loren. She was casually intercepting it.
“Chieyaa!!”
One hit to the mouth of that mad wolf and its fangs were knocked out. The sword she uses is a short sword that is overwhelmingly small and affordable compared to her large red armor. Still, as long as it is a sword, Eris Loren, the class Ace Knight, was considered to have the power to rival five fully-armed ogres.
“Take this!!”
Zang!!
……The returning sword cut the neck of the mad wolf who was shocked about having its fangs knocked off. For a moment, a ghoul trying to take its opportunity and the mad wolf without a head fell on the ground.
“Well, I think I need a drink~”
Eris waved her sword to remove the blood and slowly raised it for a small prayer. It’s the Class Ace Knight’s single combat victory ritual.
With her pretty face, she would be perfect if not for her boyish character.
The battle ended in only seven minutes.
Adam Taylor landed smoothly at the back of his white horse, with a wry smile.
“Adam, don’t be reckless… there are more power monsters amidst the weaker ones, looking for an opportunity. I don’t think you want to return to the Cathedral during this battle, right?” Abby Williams furrowed her brows in displeasure.
“I’ll keep that in mind~”
“Idiot!” Abby Williams scowled. Then, she jumped back and electricity crackled on her both hands—the pouncing monsters around her were then electrocuted, giving a burning smell.
The earth was stained scarlet by the blood pouring out from the growing piles of corpses of either human or monsters alike.
“Don’t falter! We shall undoubtedly be victorious!”
——Just one line.
The human army had been galvanized by just one line from Adam Taylor.
The entire army cheered, “We will be victorious!” in chorus and ceased their slow retreat.
Each soldier shouted, unafraid of death, and repelled the Demon’s Army, which had been eroding through their lines like a wedge.
They slammed bodily into Demon’s Army, which had highhandedly continued their attack after their initial advantage and forced their once-broken lines back into formation.
Their absolute trust in Adam Taylor, the Fearless Hero, had overturned their premonition of defeat and called forth their conviction of victory.
And lo, Adam Taylor had personally leaped out from the rear lines with his Holy Sword in hand.
“Good will never be defeated by Evil!!”
