V2 Chapter 29
“Of course, if you failed to protect the
“So, no matter what ending it is, we will still die?” Cian asked bitterly.
Night smiled apologetically. “As long as you are able to protect
“For how long?” Cian asked. “Even if believe in you and do everything I can but even if I found it, I don’t have any confidence in protecting it for a long time,”
“… …” Night sighed. “I still don’t know. Breaking these God Locks will probably take a long time. All I can do is doing my best…”
“… …” Cian's face distorted.
“It’s all up to you…” Night smiled bitterly. “We don’t have much time. In any case, I don’t have much power to give you blessings anymore so,” Night raised her head and under Cian’s dumbfounded gaze, Night pulled her right eye without hesitation.
“What!? What are you doing!?” Cian was startled and he immediately rushed towards her to stop her but--
Night smiled faintly as she stretched her hand that was holding her eyeball towards Cian. Blood flows on her closed eye. “My eye can still be of use to you, I promised you.”
“No, that’s not….”
“I’m sorry but I can’t give you both,” Night smiled apologetically.
“I don’t need them!” Cian exclaimed in shock. “Quick, return it back,” But Night shook her head. “All your friends will certainly have blessings. Do you want to fight them alone without anything…?”
“But…”
“Go,” Night smiled gently and softly put her hand on Cian’s forehead. Her hand was small, and she was slightly colder than him. The chilly feeling peeled Cian’s mind of its complicated emotions. “Although, I don’t have any divine power left to use but… you don’t need to worry about obtaining a special blessing from me. Though, there will be a bigger price to pay…that is your resurrection ability…”
“… …”
“I know this would be unfair to you but if you want to win, I can only do so. Your ability to resurrect every time you die will be tempered by me so that I convert it to other skills you wanted. Just make sure you won’t die… or else the price you will pay might be bigger compared to your friends… though, avoiding death is always your greatest ability…” Night chuckled in amusement. “You’re far stronger than many people, even if those heroes grow up, I know that in the end, you will still emerge victoriously…”
Cian wondered, just where did this baseless confidence come from...
“Go, my love… I will use all my power to intervene when you will be sent into that world and sent you to a proper place, at least that the best I can do for now…” As Night said that, Cian’s consciousness gradually grew faint. Another one of her powers was putting Cian to sleep. However, unlike before, this time, Cian didn't feel afraid; that was because the girl, the Goddess of Darkness and Chaos; Her Goddess Night, was gently smiling in front of him.
“...Why, are you crying...?”
As his consciousness faded, Cian suddenly noticed that the Dark Goddess in front of him was crying. Although she was smiling, tears wet her cheeks.
“That is because I'm so happy to have met you. And I’m sorry to involve you in this fight where all of you should have no connection with.” Night softly said.
“I’m sorry…you will face many hardships…many sufferings…all because of me…”
“… …”
Night knows that this mission, Cian’s task, was the most difficult of all. He would never be able to be with his friends and has no choice but to shoulder everything alone… in that small build of his.
Alone… just what kind of things he will bear and experience? Just what kind of loneliness was it, fighting the people who once you have thought as friends… alone? With no one to understand you. With no one to rely on. And Cian had a vague feeling that Night was crying for his sake. Thus, he smiled, “…that is good for me as well, since… I won’t be bored for a while…”
Night’s eyes widened slightly. “Fufufu, then I hope you have a good time in that world.”
As Cian’s view faded to white, the dark Goddess wiped her tears away.
Good... Since the girl revealed a smile after wiping away her tears, Cian felt a slight relief. And as he relaxed, he was drawn in by the drowsiness. Cian chose not to struggle but instead asked his Dark Goddess one last question.
“Will... we meet again...?” Although he doesn’t know whether what Night said was real and was she really an ally or just fake, but he had this urge to see her again.
“Yes, without fail.”
A happy voice responded.
That was Cian’s limit.
… …
And that was when Cian arrived into this world. Many things have happened and things he couldn’t understand occurred one after another…and for better or for worse, he actually started enjoying this world more than he had thought he would be. Waiting for Ruka’s return, suddenly at this moment—Knock! Knock! Knock! someone arrived during his recollection.
Cian was startled. His Eye activated and he immediately saw the one behind the door—
… …
Sibylla clenched her fist in anxiety. It was deep midnight and here she is in front of a man’s room, though he was her fiancée but even still… her heart can’t stop from beating so fast. This would be the first time she would visit him in the middle of the night.
However, where had he gone to this morning? And why did he only return in the middle of the night? Since she can feel his presence inside the room, she couldn’t be mistaken. He had returned…

Sibylla stands nervously on Cian’s room’s doorstep, fussing with her skirt and coat and tousled hair. Knocking on the door, Sibylla bit her lips in excitement as well as nervousness. In mere moments she the heard footsteps. “Sibylla, you came,” Cian opened the door, wearing a dark grey plush bathrobe. His masculine scent is filling the air. “I’m sorry about my appearance, I was actually waiting for Ruka to finish preparing my bath, I intend to wash my body first before I sleep. I hope you don’t mind…” he smiled apologetically.
Sibylla stood there rooted and nodded her head in daze…… Gulp, Sibylla subconsciously shallow back her saliva when she saw him and the greetings she had prepared had already flown for a thousand miles. It is said that a man who was half-dressed is quite lethal to any women, which is indeed true! Looking at this handsome man with bare clothes showing his sturdy chest and abdomen, even someone with a thick skin like Sibylla, also cannot help but have her cheek burning hot!
In order to avoid looking like a fool in public, Sibylla snapped out from her daze and only take a glance then quickly revert her gaze and say seriously: “I, I just want to check up no you…since you disappeared for an entire day…” she muttered with a soft voice.
Cian looks at her with a faint but apologetic smile and rubs her head intimately: “I’m sorry, I have something I needed to do… I think you should have heard about a youth appearing in the Demon Gate Auction Hall today called Blood Reaper, I was him in disguise. I really am not playing around…” While leading her inside the room and closing the door, Cian explained to her. To Sibylla, Cian didn’t really want to hide anything. After all, she had already known everything about him. And also, Sibylla’s intelligence and influence might be of use to him in the future—thus, he wanted her to be updated on whatever he was doing…at the very least.
Sibylla was his person that is something that would never change.
“Well, I heard some rumors but you don’t need to tell me about this, you know…” Sibylla sat at the edge of the bed. Cian, on the other hand, crouched in front of her while holding her hands affectionately. They look face to face, with a smile of love appearing on both faces. “As long as you’re okay, I wouldn’t care about anything. And also, you don’t need to say anything like this as well in the future. Some things are best left as a secret…to avoid any unnecessary leakage.”
“What are you talking about? I trust you…” Cian raised her hand and placed it on each of his cheeks, feeling her warmth on this cold weather. “Whatever it is, I will tell it to you… after all, you are this man’s beloved wife…if I can’t trust you, who can I trust?”
Sibylla’s eyes lit up in happiness and her lips turned into a beautiful smile. She leaned down and her forehead leaned against Cian’s forehead as she closed her eyes, savoring the warmth coming from him. As always, his words, and his unbridled gaze would never cease penetrating her. Her heart beats as if a wild boar was stomping on her heart. A bit painful but she felt happy and sweet.
When he looked at her up and down slowly, drinking in every detail—his boyish charm makes her weak in the knees every time she sees him. His rakishly unkempt pompadour, those soulful Elvish-eyes that looked like expensive jewels… there’s that same cross—shaped necklace made from silver that he always wears, casually leading her gaze down the exposed bare chest, to the subtle slope of his breasts underneath. He smells so good as if it possesses the power to always calm her mind and taut nerves--it’s all I can do to keep myself from lunging at you… but I know that you have something you wanted to achieve, and I can only follow your lead. Sibylla smiled wryly.
“…even if it was what you said, I don’t need to know it. There would always be something you couldn’t say to me and I understand that…and I feel that it would be the best if it stays like that. I don’t have any capabilities to support you greatly like Ruka, and I always feel sorry about that. You might feel it as an obligation to tell me what you are doing but it is not necessary…” she shook her head.
“I’m not…”
“Hmm, whatever you want to do, just do it—I will do my best to support you. As long as you return safely and then stay beside me, that’s all I hope for.”
Cian took her hands in his and kissed them. His touch was a lifeline to possibilities. “…you’re the best I could ever hope for, you know that…” Cian threw her a knowing grin.
“Then, I would be the happiest woman in the world if you really thought of me like that…” Sibylla responded with a faint smile.
“Sibylla…”
“Hm?”
Cian suddenly stood up and embraced Sibylla, startling the latter. Her body stiffened in nervousness. Burrowing his face on her neck, Sibylla suddenly heard his gentle voice, “I’m sorry…” she was confused. “Sorry for what?” “For everything…” Cian responded. “…I’m not fit to be loved by you, I don’t deserve you, I know that. But, if I was given a chance to be selfish, I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it and ask for you. Despite the countless times I wronged you, despite many times I hurt you and make you cry, but I still want you to be with me… till the end of the world, I want you to be with me…”
Sibylla was silent for a moment before her arms circled on his back. Her lips curled upwards, “Silly…I know that you will make me cry and I already know I would suffer if I follow you…but what can I do? Just like what you said, I’m a fool, a fool with a one-track mind. I will endure all the pain you will give me and still stay with you—though, I’m still not that good and kind-hearted to just give you to Ruka or any other woman I don’t know about without giving a fight…” she smiled wryly but Cian can feel the hidden anger and resolve from her words. Even the hold on her arms become tighter.
Cian’s body shiver and his eyes widened: “You…know…?”
“Why did you even think I wouldn’t know?” Sibylla smiled wryly as she faced. She raised her hand and pinched his face, “Depending on you? Who knows your character better than I do?”
Cian smiled awkwardly. “I…”
“Save it…” Sibylla placed his finger on Cian’s lips. “I don’t want to hear it. Although I don’t want you fooling around with her or any other woman I don’t know behind my back…but stopping you is something I cannot do. Just give me some time—” “… …” then, Sibylla pointed her finger at Cian’s heart. “—and also, no matter what happens, the only one who has the right to enter here, should only be me… do you understand?” Sibylla said with a very serious expression that her eyes gave a sharp piercing gaze. “This is my special right…if you give it to someone else, I would never forgive you! Ever!”
Cian was stunned for a while. Then, he let out a chuckle, “I promise…” he responded with a gentle smile. It's just mere words in any case... Night wouldn't smite her for giving a white lie...
“… …”Sibylla smiled and pressed her lips to his in a kiss. Cian responded in kind as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close as the kiss turned more passionate. Almost immediately, the two of them could feel their bodies responding to each other, and each could feel the yearning and desire that lay beneath the surface, not only in themselves but in their partner as well.
They whipped themselves up into such a frenzy of lips and hands that Sibylla’s hair got caught in the barbell in his left ear. They paused, laughing softly together as she let him untangle her from the stubborn metallic grip. They then locked eyes in that gentle moment. It might have been the only time he was fully present with her that night but it was enough.
Once freed, Cian took Sibylla’s face in both hands and pulled her back into his mouth, urging her to take more. It was as if the whiskey-like mood that had been fuelling him all night had intoxicated her too. So much so that her knees went weak. He kissed down her neck, pinching the skin between his teeth a little more every time until he found the thick flesh of her shoulder. However, at this moment—“Nope, bad prince…” Sibylla breaks off from the intense moment with a mischievous smile.
“It is said you cannot believe what a man told you before going to bed with him,” Sibylla muttered with a smirk. “If you really want me, then you need to marry me first…!” And so, she declared.
“Who said such a thing…I think I need some blood to spill on my floor tonight…” Cian pouted in to complain. But he obediently backs down. “…well, I’m willing to wait for that day though…” Cian smiled wryly. “Thank you,” Sibylla smiled happily as she kissed Cian’s lips one last time. “…Besides, you always have an adorable servant, ain’t it? Do settle it with her then~” She muttered teasingly but the jealousy in her voice was enough to flood the whole room. It could even drown Cian alive. So how could Cian dare acknowledged it even if he was threatened by a knife on his throat?
“What are you talking about? Mine and Ruka’s relationship is insipid as water…this I can approve!”
“Who believe you are a ghost!” Sibylla snorted.
Cian and Sibylla stared for a moment and then suddenly, they both burst out in laughter.
Such a happy life... Cian had never thought he would have this kind of chance when he was living on Earth? Although he didn't know right now if Night was someone he could really trust but he was already full of gratitude for her for bestowing this kind of life. This had always been what he wanted... though, not completely... but these fleeting moments are something he had dreamt of having ever since he was a child...
I will do anything, whether they are deemed evil or not, just to protect these fleeting moments...
