V2 Chapter 169
It took almost an hour to kill the entire wolf’s pack.
The fight was intense…thrilling even.
Cian was somewhat satisfied.
Just like before Cian walked towards the Manticore while dragging a barely living Green Wolf, which was far bigger than the rest, and seemed to be the leader. Although the Manticore didn’t have any grave injuries from the fight, as even if the Green Wolves discharged Acidic Venom, it still barely able to break through its defense. However, since Cian had accepted it, he would never let it be harmed.
He used the same ability [Life Drain], though instead of absorbing the monster’s life force, he channeled it towards the Manticore to heal its wounds.
The Manticore had already witnessed it before and happily, accepted it. However, after Cian healed the Manticore, he suddenly noticed something strange. When the Manticore looks at him, Cian noticed that in the Manticore’s golden-brown fur, there were actually three stripes of green fur that like stripes of a zebra, just standing vertically. When looking from afar, it looks as if it was made by a claw—it look beautiful.
But how is this possible…?
Cian used [Night’s Eye] and saw a hint of green aura that was almost similar to that of the Green Wolves. What does this mean? Cian was at a loss. However, as if seeing his confusion, the manticore nudged its head against Cian and then suddenly turned towards an empty spot. I felt very powerful. It said inside her mind. It then opened its mouth and roared, and suddenly dozen translucent wind-like blades shot from its mouth, shooting towards a humongous tree, cutting it into pieces. Then, the manticore seemingly proud of what it did, turn towards Cian, and rubbed its head at him, seemingly asking for praise.
At this moment, he finally realized what had occurred.
Those wind blades were almost similar to that of the Green Wolves!
Just that, it was bigger and look more powerful than theirs. However, how? Why did the manticore have such ability? It’s not like it has his [Plunder] at all. Furthermore, he had never heard about monsters able to steal other monsters' abilities. Much less, Manticore was not a creature with a wind type affinity anyway… wait…
Suddenly, Cian realized something.
Was it the [Life Channeling]?
[Life Channeling] was the name he had made upon creating this technique, using [Life Drain] as the base. He had created another magic that acts as healing magic through stealing life from another. However, is it possible that he didn't just steal life but also something else? Is this some kind of hidden effect of the skill? But it was not like it was the first time he did it…why didn’t it succeed before? Is there some sort of hidden requirements? Or just that, similar to his [Plunder], it’s not an absolute success…?
Cian pondered while stroking the Manticore’s beautiful mane, which now had some green colored strands. Its expression was full of happiness as it laid on the ground, and enjoyed his petting.
This needs some experimenting to do…
Cian’s eyes sparkled in excitement. If there really such an effect… he had truly obtained a jackpot treasure!
While Cian was excited about the prospect of this ability, however, he noticed a side effect of the skill. When he tried eating the withered Green Wolf Leader, forget about skills and abilities, even an enhancement or magical energy, he could not harvest anything. He had noticed it when he had eaten the Silver Scaled Ape but just thought that it was his skill’s rate being very low and ignored it. But perhaps, because of its life-force being consumed by the Manticore, there’s nothing left for him to take anymore?
If what he thought was true, then, it’s not something he could do every time. Especially towards high-level monsters. [Life Drain] didn’t give him the same effect at all. If it had, he would have stolen many abilities before without using [Plunder]. To master this power, he had drained many monsters of their lives but nothing similar happened. Other than healing and recovering his wounds, stamina, and magic power, nothing strange occurred.
Perhaps it only works for monsters?
Some sort of evolution…?
Or a Mutation?
Cian turned towards the Manticore. He can create a Chimera as it was among his specialty within Death Magic System, that even Grea Ovsburn could only sigh in envy. With his knowledge in biology and an added touch of Magic Eye and Soul Eye, he can recreate monsters using different monster parts and give it life.
He called it [Bio-Engineering] or in simple terms; [Bio-Engi Magic]. However, he can never recreate the Chimera’s magic [Plunder], which had made him somewhat disappointed and annoyed.
Only, if the monster parts used contained specific magic, the Chimera created could use the original monster’s abilities—but not the power of plunder. He had always thought it was strange and even doubted if he had made some mistake.
This caused him to lose his interest in it and never continued his research. The created monster was only subpar.
However, what the Ten-tailed Fox had said before, that the Chimera where he had obtained his [Plunder] ability was a unique existence and was created by gods, Cian was enlightened and somewhat believed her words. Even when she claimed that the legend of eating a Chimera’s heart would give the ability of [Plunder] was not absolute, he somewhat believed it.
It’s not because he had made a mistake in creating chimeras but a monster that possesses [Plunder] should be a creation, using some kind of special technique or materials in the process. Something that is out of his league, a mortal, or materials that cannot be found in this mortal world. Normal Chimera doesn’t have [Plunder] abilities, only the skill [Chimera].
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Though a Chimera that was able to possess the [Chimera] ability is also quite rare and only the most perfect creation could have.
Chimera’s powers are limited…
Cian realized that after going to several experiments. But perhaps, with this magic technique, he could create a unique and extremely powerful Chimera in the world…?
[Chimaera Magic] has always been a branch system of Dark Magic. Especially within Death Magic. It’s one of those monsters research by all necromancers and liches, using corpses of different creatures and give it life. However, succeeding in making one was not easy. One must find good compatibility among materials used and deep knowledge of the creature’s biology and structure, or else a chance of failure is higher than success.
Grea Ovsburn, Cian’s teacher in Dark Magic was among those who were able to create one or two successful Chimeras.
This achievement was also the reason why she had become one of the highest elders of the Death Temple even with her young age. However, she understands creating one was left to a miracle or luck. High chances of failure have always been a problem among Chimera Creator, some even went wild, birthing tragedies such as being killed by their creations. Hence, this branch of death magic was never that popular.
For those who succeeded though, weak or not, has the right to look down on any Dark Mages. Whether it’s luck or not, they would be able to gain prestige among mages.
Grea Ovsburn was the same. She was one of those known as a Talent that only comes once in a hundred years. And she was completely proud of that—unfortunately, that lasted for a while. After her meeting of fate with Cian Kahlo, the enigmatic Young Master Blood, her pride suffer a great hit.
Not only he was a genius in magic; darkness and lightning, dual magician—his research in Monster Creation were among the highest she had seen thus far. Talking about things such as tendons, veins, nerves, etc… she could hardly understand, even brain matters at that… she was thoroughly crushed.
At first, she had thought that he was just talking about nonsensical stuff, trying to confuse her or just want to show off, but when he made his first attempt in creating a Chimera and even succeeded, albeit a weak kind of chimera—a wolf given wings, he was able to succeed and make it fly. Her jaws hanged and her eyes turned spiritless in shock.
Although Cian made some failures, as out of ten Chimera experiments, he was only able to succeed three times—this was already inconceivable!
Though, unbeknownst to her, although Cian has some deep knowledge about biology and animal structures—which happened to almost similar with the beasts and monsters found in this world. And although he was not a specialized professional in the field, still, with just what he knows already gave advantage among Chimera Makers, as it was far comparable to the natives of this world.
His success, however, was not only because of his vast, modern knowledge but also greatly attributed to his God’s Eye, especially his magic eye. He was able to make the parts move, but reconnecting the magic veins of different parts, letting the magic flows through it. Using his Magic Eye, he can see the stream of magic easily.
As for those dead monster parts, although other dark mages used special means to revived their Chimeras, Cian captured souls and store them in his Soul realm, only to be used as a soul of the Monsters he created, giving them life. Especially humanoid souls or demon souls that give the Chimera very high intelligence and wisdom.
As expected of the eye of the Great Goddess of Evil. His eye is just too perfect for this kind of thing.
While resting, Cian decided to reopen his interest in Monster Creation. In his arsenal, there were several high-level monster corpses he could use as materials. However, what he wanted to make was a special and very powerful unique monster. In that case, there are still high-level materials he might need. And besides, starting his experiment now, at this place, might be a bad idea.
[[Jungle Empowerment] has been successfully plundered!]
While munching on the beasts and monsters they had killed, Cian continued wandering the forest with the manticore, farming magical beasts, and monsters. His physical attributes and power significantly improving as he strolls around and fights, and at the same time eat, and he could feel his speed and reflexes vastly improved, especially his growing mastery over his [Blood Release] that he had never achieved back in Earth.
Cian even wondered how his parents would react if they learned that he now can control his [Blood Release] and how he could last for six to seven minutes using it. Far beyond that, his body couldn't endure the onslaught of the after-effect. But Cian knows that this is only for now. As his body becomes stronger, the longer he would also be able to use his [Blood Release]. And if that happens, he would certainly become unrivaled!
While practicing his [Blood Release] and several of his abilities, the Manticore; Leona also started to get used to her newly-obtained powers. And from what Cian noticed, Leona's strength seemed to be steadily increasing. Though she didn't acquire abilities from most monsters they encountered, her strength and speed were almost half higher than what it originally has. She had even noticeably grown a few inches taller, and bigger.
Together with the Manticore’s violent ferocity and strength, they could easily kill magical beasts and monsters, even if a pack appeared. Often, Cian was in charge of ranged attack and support with his magic gun, while the Manticore attacks and protect him from every enemy. He then collects the spoils and threw them into his storage rings. Although there were battles that made him sweat a bit, his combat sense and power that seemed to have reached its limit, had now slowly risen once again.
The life and death stimulations he was experiencing seemed to have helped waking up the slumbering beast within him.
Still, Cian was now certain about the effects of his [Life Channeling]Magic, as the Manticore was able to obtain two more abilities; [Armored Scales] and [ Rock Spikes] after Cian used [Life Channeling] in roughly over ten kinds of monsters that they had encountered. Although the success rate was quite low, he was still excited.
This forest is really a fu*king treasure trove!
This has gotten him very excited!
Not only I got beauty, but I also got an opportunity to obtain another power. Hmph not only that, this forest is extremely abundant with precious crafting materials.
A few of them were even rare and hardly found in the outside world. Sibylla would be ecstatic when he gave them all to her.
Cian knows that Sibylla’s only hobby was gardening and planting plants and herbs, especially herbs where she would start concocting potions and elixirs. She was his master in Alchemy and Magic Refinement. Though, from what she said, she only took up Alchemy because she likes plants and flowers. And it seems like her race has some innate ability that increases the effectiveness of herbs used by them several times, causing a strange yet extremely powerful, enhancing effects of any potions they made, making them incredible Alchemists.
In fact, Sibylla’s mother; Silvia Vandlehouse was the Royal Alchemist of the Dreadstorm Empire. And according to Oriel, Sibylla was crowned as a Genius in terms of Alchemy. This is also the reason why she was qualified to become the Second Prince Consort, eventually becoming one.
In this sense, one can say that her mother had work truly hard to give her this status. After all, at that time, Sibylla still despised the Second Prince, even still Silvia, Sibylla’s mother did what she could to please Sitana, and even did everything possible so that Sitana would not be able to ignore or refuse her proposal.
Many even thought, Sibylla might not be the one marrying Aanuel, but rather her instead, because of her extreme enthusiasm.
Silvia was smart and wise, knowing and understanding that she would never be able to get Lucifalion as Sibylla’s husband. Hence, he settled with the Second Prince, despite the latter’s reputation, all for the sake of her Clan. Though, indeed, that had become the best decision of her life.
