V2 Chapter 42

Sibylla frowned as his voice was so loud. She feared someone might hear it…fortunately, due to the location of her room as well as the blizzard raging in the night, as long as it was not as loud as an explosion or commotion, no one would be able to hear it or notice it. But there would be guards passing any minute now. Sibylla frowned and she sneered, “...Brainwashed? Deceived? If it was as simple as that, things would have been simple and I would surely not have these petty thoughts and worries hurting me. I would even much prefer such lies…becoming a doll without feelings and emotions. But too bad it was not! Have you ever thought of how much time we have spent together? It was much shorter than the time you and I have spent together, indeed. But I feel as if I had understood him more than I understand you…Faran!”

“…?!!”

“…In this world, probably I was the only one who understands him. And that is why… I want to protect him, from the people around him, from those who want to hurt to him, from those he treated as family but was actually wolves waiting to peel his flesh and drinks his blood…and especially…from you!”

“Lies! You’re just confused!”

“Unfortunately, it’s not a lie. Nothing is! His Highness is much, much, much deeper and complicated than you ever think. Trash? Coward? Weak? Stupid? He indeed has such a dirty reputation and fame. But that is all there is to it—no one even tried to clarify whether they are true or not. That is because all you saw was his outside appearance, but you have never dared try seeing him properly and carefully…not one dared. Not you...not me..."

"... ..."

"But it’s fine… because I was able to redeem myself. I was able to wake up and noticed what's real and what's false… I know what and who he really is…and that is enough for me! And that the love and affection he was giving to me is something I won’t ever dare to ignore and throw away. His genuine feelings, I can feel it! I can understand it! And! I want it—I WANT HIM!” Sibylla gnashed her teeth and her eyes turned slightly red from the strong emotions she was feeling.

"That's...!!?" Faran couldn't understand nor he couldn't believe. He stared at Sibylla in front of her as if she was a stranger...

But Sibylla didn't care. Before she had met him, she thought she had fallen into despair, a Hell that she would never escape from. Such sufferings, such worries, such anxieties eating inside her and gnawing her slowly and slowly. She thought she would lose her mind. And yet, no one was able to help her no matter how much she begs and extends her hand in plea…not her dearest mother, not her family, not anyone, not Faran…

However, the one who had given her a new life, a new hope, new happiness… is actually the one she had least thought would do. The one who she thought would become her worst nightmare. She was wrong… she was really wrong. She, as a descendant of Nature, should have been the one that should not see and judge by appearance alone and instead, see by heart and an open mind.

She was really mistaken. She had really become narrow-minded!

Fortunately, the heavens give her one last chance…!

Ever since that night she had fallen into a quagmire she had a hard time extricating herself from. And as time passed by, moments they had shared together—were at first being fueled by curiosity and interest. But then, it suddenly turned into one unimaginable happiness…!

Every second, every minute, every hour, every day…she started hoping, expecting…wanting to see him, to talk to him, to be with him, and that for every moment they shared together to last long.

She doesn’t care about anything anymore. All she cares and expects about is the moments they would share in the future…!

In his side, she was not a Demon, she was not a noble, she was not Sibylla Vandlehouse…

She was…a Woman.

———that’s all there is to it.

With him, she wouldn’t think of anything else.

Only happiness…and joy!

…And so, would she still want another else…?

…if only she was an idiot!

... ...

“… …” Faran was startled and shock to see the Sibylla that he had never seen before in his entire life. Who was this? He asked inwardly as he felt confused and dumbfounded. Just what had happened to her…? She seemed to be another person…!

“Anyway, I don’t want to waste any more time with you…Rasha, Devour him!” Sibylla’s expression turned cold and from behind her, space suddenly distorted and a two-meter figure appeared from out of nowhere. It was a large wolf with beautiful snow white fur. It has a grand mane, large fangs, and a pair of horns that curve backward. It possesses gleaming red eyes, displaying a majestic and intimidating aura.

“…?! You!!” Seeing the large wolf, Faran’s eyes widened in shock and fear. “How did you—?!” However, before he could say anything, the large wolf behind Sibylla disappeared and then reappeared before Faran, opening its large mouth. Faran wanted to struggle and scream but his death comes faster than he had expected.

Sibylla stared at him with indifferent eyes. She then turned around leaned on the window, watching the snowy mountain with somewhat despondent expression.

“Is this really okay?” A gentle voice asked. Sibylla didn’t need to turn around and know already who it belongs to.

“Okay, what?”

“You know what I was saying… that person is still your bloodkin.” The large wolf stood behind Sibylla. The expression of its eyes gentle and somewhat caring—

“I can leave him a way out. However, pulling him into Aanuel’s side is already impossible. Well, not like I wanted it to be…and so, if he remains alive, he would just become detrimental to his plans and goals. With that, there’s no use, letting him stay alive…”

“… …”

“…Besides, he intruded upon my chamber so shamelessly. If Aanuel learned of it, I wouldn’t be able to show my face to him…even if he didn’t mind it; my heart would be somewhat uncomfortable. I don’t ever want him to misunderstand…”

“…You really changed, you know that…” Rasha let out a sigh.

“If you love someone, Rasha…whether you like it or not, you will change. Although I said I don’t mind being left behind by him as he flies into the sky. But as his consort, I can’t not do anything for him. I can’t obediently stay in the house like a flower vase when my husband is fighting a harsh battle alone…!” Sibylla muttered. “If he wanted the world, I would pave the road myself and give it to him…! I would even accept all the sins in the world and paint my hands in blood for him…”

“… …”

“…However, if he fails and fell to Hell,” Sibylla smiled. Her expression soft and gentle, like a beautiful flower under the moonlight, “…at least, he has some company and he would not get lonely in there. We would still be together, even in Hell... The Demon Prince...and The Demoness, isn't it a good title for a touching story?” Sibylla giggled.

Even if, in the end, the one he loved wasn’t her, she wanted to always be by his side, loving him, because Sibylla knew, that underneath his indifferent and coldness, he was someone who could spot her in a crowd, pat her head with a faint but warm smile, and take her away. Even if she hides her true self, he would rip apart the alloy that was hiding her and flash her a smile, dragging her out.

He wouldn’t abandon her no matter what.

He was her safe harbor.

“Is that the reason why you send those letters…? Are you really certain that they will answer your call…?”

“…they will, I believe it.” Sibylla smiled faintly as she turned her gaze at the sky.

“…if you are able to do this for him, at least you should let him know…!”

Sibylla shook her head. “No, I can’t do that…not yet.” Sibylla bit her lips for a while, then she continued, “All he needed to do is look in front of him and walk without worrying anything. I don’t know how much I can do, but at the very least, even if he forget or overlook something along the way, I would still be able to see it since I was walking closely behind him. He doesn’t need to care about simple and tiny things; his sight must never waver towards the greatest goal he wanted. It’s my duty to clean the mess he would leave behind…” Then, she turned towards Rasha, “…that’s why, Rasha, please don’t tell my mom about this. With her open mouth, she would never be able to keep a secret…”

“Well, not like I would care about it. Whatever you wanted to do, I had promised to accompany you in this life. If you wanted to be a martyr for that enigma, I can only follow you and support you wholeheartedly.” Rasha let out a sigh as she shook her large wolf face. “I really don’t know what part of that strange demon you’ve fallen for, to become like this…”

“… …”

“Someone like you who understand the darkness of the world and can clearly see people’s nature, and were always been appalled by it, is now wanting to plunge yourself into this sea of suffering…I really didn’t know if it’s a good transformation or not. But…is that man…really worth it…?”

“Is that question needed an answer?” Sibylla smiled gently. She caressed Rasha’s wolfic face and muttered with a gentle voice, “…he’s worth it. And even if he is not, doesn’t matter…because…I love him…that’s all there is to it. Reason can be damned—right?”

“… …” Rasha stared at the pup she had always been protecting and cared for in helplessness. Truly… there are too many paths in the world, yet why do you want to tread on a rocky road…? Why are you seeking hell yourself when there’s heaven…? Love…? Is such a thing really…necessary…?

Sibylla ignored Rasha’s worry and anxiety as her eyes fixed on the snowy world before her. A certain youth’s smiling appeared on her mind, causing her lips to curl into a beautiful smile. With her dreamlike voice, she softly spoke, “You know, Rasha… the past few days, when I close my eyes, all I can think of is him…probably, Faran is right… I might be under his spell already. Though I would never care if I was bewitched or under a spell, all I want is to be with him, cherish our moment as if it was the last.”

“… …”

You know…Sibylla muttered inwardly as she faced the peeking moon amidst the snowy blizzard. I would always be here for you, whenever you needed me. I will offer you my shoulder unhesitatingly when you needed it. You are my man and I will do anything for you—cross the vast deserts, climb the highest mountains, and sail the vast ocean blue, all just to be with you.

You’ve been through so much, experience too much and you don’t know where to turn, but there’s always light ahead…and I will surely be that light that guides you.

I may not understand nor know what you’ve been going through right now, whether in the past or in the future, but if you needed me, I will always be here. I will hold you tight if you’re feeling lost, guide you if you lost your way, support you if you were about to fall—I will surely protect you.

Even if you don’t need me…I will still be here, always for you…!

… So walk without unease, smile without pain, laugh without worry…because I’m always standing behind you, so you can leave your back to me…!

This is my devotion… this is my love… this is my promise…

“Now that I’m feeling like this, hurting like this, how can I possibly be with another man……?” Sibylla sigh, her eyes moist and teary.

An overly conservative nature, this was indeed what Cian admired most about her. Hence, he made use of that trait to compel her to be with him. Underhanded, but Cian didn’t care. He truly wanted her…what’s so wrong about making the one you love can’t leave your side…? Isn’t that natural? Fuck morality! Fuck Ethics! Fuck everything! As long as she was standing beside him, why would he care…?

Sibylla probably knows that in this life, she already had no escape from the clutches of the Demon Prince. Because now she was no longer by herself, her heart already had an unbreakable link. And so, she could only sigh for the future waiting for her…
