V2 Chapter 64
“Demon Warrior: Gangdan!”
Feeling the intense energy of the demon that attacked her, Ezra’s face revealed a cold smile. “…it seems like the Demon Empire thinks highly of me, to not only send a General but also some of its elite warriors to chase me down… I’m honored!”
“…be honored indeed, young warrior— you’re one of the few humans I acknowledged,” Gandan grinned, showing red dyed fangs that looked like true rubies. However, his eyes suddenly flashed cold and his gaze narrowed. “Although that is the case, it was not enough for the entire army to place this kind of attention to someone like you, even still, what you did angered not just the Empire but the Princess as well… and so, no matter what happens, tonight will be your grave. Attacking the Second Prince is the worst action you could possible do…!”
BOOOM!!
The saber Gangdan used emitted a dazzling demonic light and, sent Ezra flying away. Arcs of blood trailed in the air, as several cut wounds appeared in some parts of her body.
Ezra gritted her teeth and when she was about to crash on the ground, her hand reaches out, the tip of her fingers tapped the ground lightly and her body flipped in the air, eventually landing safely a few meter distances away from her former position. However, as she was about to stabilize her condition, her instinct suddenly rang out and her left foot immediately exerted force enough to crack the ground as she shot herself towards the left side—
BOOOOOM!!
As she was rolling over, a two-meter-long battle mace rammed on the ground she was formerly was at, a large crater was created. The rocks and pebbles sent by the blasting force knock on her way and hit her several times. But she ignored them and tried to create even more distances.
Raising her head, she saw a High Orc-like green skinned Demon almost towering a three to four meter in height standing. Crack! The green skinned Orc pulled back his mace and when he did, the ground let out a crack sound as the mace was burrowed quite deep into it, causing a long fissure to appear after it was pulled out.
If that was to hit her...
Ezra clicked her tongue and was about jump back again to escape when “Gah?!” a sudden pain struck her from her leg the moment she tried to move it. There was a long wound on her leg, probably caused by the sharp edges of the Mace… when she thought she had successfully avoided the attack on time, she actually still did not, leaving a fatal wound on her leg.
“Oh my…Kikkikkik escaping with that kind of leg, I don’t think it would be possible anymore…Oink!” The green skinned Orc grinned like a savage predator, completely revealing a set of sharp fangs.
“…oh really, but capturing me alive is much more unrealistic either… give it up! I’d rather die than surrender…!” Ezra smiled bravely as she struggled to stand up using her sword as a stand.
“What a courageous lass, you make me want you…” The green skinned Orc’s long tongue licked his lips. Then, his large body, moving like a tractor along the road, rush towards Ezra’s direction.
To this, Ezra frowned and her voice laded with an icy coldness that could make one chill, “Then, you can play with a dead body, you scum of a demon…!”
Her body jumped backward using her uninjured leg, Claang! She raised her sword and block an attack coming from the right direction. There, Gangdan was attacking her relentlessly, but Ezra was still able to parry his strikes, albeit desperately, creating several small cuts on her body, all while relying on her instinct and fighting spirit.
Well, fighting against the demon elites with just fighting spirit is basically insufficient—
Baaaang!!
Ezra’s body crashed on a building, breaking the wall of a house.
Gaha—?! Ezra vomited blood, a long thin line dripping with blood on her neck, chest, left hand broken and leg limping. Her white skin was burned black and full of terrifying blood wounds, and her fingers spasmed from the pain.
It was obvious to the eye that Ezra was completely in a bad shape.
Debris fell as she tried to move and stand up but when she did, she would fall back on the ground again.
Her mind and spirit might still be fine, but her body couldn't follow anymore.
This is over…
This is normal…
The weak are meat, the strong shall eat.
Both will and life are up for forfeit.
Keho, she coughed blood. Her condition begged one to count what part of her body wasn’t injured. Her sense of pain was already numb, and her blood flowed freely. All the bones in his body and the muscles in her body since to have been minced to dust. The fact she was still alive in this condition was almost comical.
“………I lost, huh.”
“Aah. You lost, human,”
A voice replied to her muttering.
General Profar descended into the ground.
“So this is the end… at least, at the very end, I was able to do something for my world, killing so many elites to accompany me in the underworld, the trip would not be boring.” Embracing the sky, Ezra slumped on the ground, listlessly sighing.
Like a fish that submitted to its fate on a chopping board, she silently offered her body.
General Profar watched Ezra’s stance and laughed.
“I see. One last gift for your world……..Fufu, that’s superb. As expected from one of humanity’s greatest heroes, you are one fine warrior… but unfortunately, you would not die so easily like that…”
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
“…is that so..? But I apologize you would not be able to capture me alive…”
Ezra grinned with a fearless expression. Suddenly, her hand that was still able to move appeared on her throat, a small blade made up of magic power condensed. She pushed it a bit and it stabbed her neck slightly, causing a trickle of blood to drip down.
General Profar frowned as she glared at Ezra’s manic smile, covered by her blood.
She looks mad.
No, this should be a crazed prey who had already lost the will to survive but not wanting to let herself be humiliated. And thus, choosing death!
“So you choose death…huh,”
“Ahh, but before that, I want to ask something…” Hesitation and struggle past Ezra’s eyes. Her gaze was full of conflicting emotions.
“Does…”
Wait! What if I’m wrong…?
As she was about to speak, suddenly her words stuck in her throat as her hand holding the mana condensed dagger shivered.
Wouldn’t I just involve him here unnecessarily?
Although Ezra was convinced that the second Prince had indeed set her up, but deep within her heart, she was hoping, no, wishing that she was wrong, that all of this is all coincidences. She doesn’t know why but she wanted to believe that…
“…did, did someone told you that I would be here…?”
Ezra gritted her teeth, she asked, hopeful but also scared.
General Profar’s brows furrowed, “What are you talking about? If we have known beforehand, you will be captured much easier than this…!”
“…?!!” Ezra’s eyes widened and her heart started beating faster… I knew it…! He… Ezra’s lips curled upward, satisfied. “Is that so…” she muttered. Then, she plunged the mana condensed dagger to her throat without hesitation.
However, at this moment--
“Seriously… I would be troubled if you do that,”
… …
Ezra’s expression was gentle as she closed her eyes, waiting for her death.
But suddenly, no matter how much she waited, she had not felt any pain and in fact, the blade seemed to have been obstructed by something. When she opened her eyes, her eyes widened in shock. There, a black-clothed figure wearing a hood was standing in front of her. His hand covered with a black glove was gripping the condensed blade tightly that it pierced through the fabric and seemed to have wounded the hand within, causing it to drip blood on her chest.
“Who…who are you?”
Ezra asked, dumbfounded.
“Seriously… don’t go dying on me. I would be troubled if you do that,” the black-clothed figure responded. However, his voice and tone were somewhat full of helplessness and bitterness. Like a father who was looking at his child, with a surrender.
This voice…?!!
Ezra’s eyes widened in shock as she heard the voice which had become extremely familiar to her after living in this City for quite a long time than intended!
“No, no way… why are you…”
“I had noticed the number of guards and soldiers running about from the inside of the Hall, like some kinda after night party…and indeed, seriously. If you had noticed the abnormality, you should have run away… aren’t you the swordsman of the wind. Even the old geezer Profar should not be able to chase you if you just focused on running away… you’re really a stubborn lass, aren’t you?”
Unconsciously, tears started falling from Ezra’s eyes, as he stared at the black-clothed figure standing before her. Under the hood, no one can see his face because of the mask he was wearing but her tone had given her an image with her mind as to what he was having at this very moment—smiling in his usual bad boy grin that she had gotten familiar to.
“So…you came here because you got worried?”
Amidst the tears, Ezra’s lips curled into a beautiful smile, her voice teasing.
“Don’t be ridiculous… I just felt that if you died here and now, you would misunderstand that this was my own scheme against you and I would surely feel troubled by that. Can’t see you off with a foolish misunderstanding that would taint my wonderful reputation forever,”
“…did you even have that self-proclaimed wonderful reputation…?” Ezra asked with a wry smile, but her gaze was soft and extremely gentle.
“Who are you?!”
As the second prince was about to respond, annoyed, a voice rang out from in front and when the second prince turned over his surroundings, he noticed that they were already surrounded by many soldiers. General Profar’s scary face was even scarier…
“Well, old man Profar, this lass is in my care… can you give me a bit face and overlook it this once…?”
“And why should I do that…? Who the hell do you think you are?!”
The second prince stepped forward, now standing protectively in front of Ezra; “Killer…of Eden. I guess you have heard of me…?”
“Killer?!” General Profa’s eyes widened in shock, as all the people behind him were. “..So you are that Killer…! So you are in cahoots with that human?!”
“Well, you can say that… though, it’s more like being a guardian for a crybaby,” The second prince replied with a wry smile. “So how about this? Can you let her go…?”
“And do you think that’s possible…?” General Profar smiled coldly. “You are as well, Killer, the Empire is looking for you— you best surrender or else…”
“Or else what…?” The Second Prince took a step forward, and the ground beneath him cracked. "Oh, no, no, actually, that's not a question I need answered. So give it up and let us go? We can still friends for facebook or instagram~"
"You should be the one to surrender. You are already surrounded! Do you really think you could get out of here alive?"
"I'll take my chances," The Second Prince replied with a nonchalant tone.
"Stupidity. You have not stepped into something you should not! Now, you will pay the price for it! You should have not come here. But since you are here, you will leave your head!" Profar snarled angrily as he pointed at the Second Prince. With that, all the soldiers started walking towards him.
Seeing this, the Second Prince shrugs his shoulder; "Seriously, can we press the skip button? Because I don't want to hear the "man was not meant to meddle" medley. Why don't we start this immediately, so that I can go home? I still have some 'unfinished romance' booked for the rest of the night,"
A gust of wind blew towards the surrounding.
The Second Prince aura exploded, startling the soldiers walking towards him. Even the infamous General Profar felt intimidated. This is...? “I don’t know what you’ve come here for, but it does seem that human behind you was quite important to you, or probably to your group—Mr. Killer…”
“…?!”
“Well, I guess you can say it is indeed, quite personal,” The second prince replied with an amused tone.
“However, do you really think that you and that human there, will come out of this bloodbath, alive? Or was it that you had already accepted your fate ending in this night and came here to accompany her in the road towards the underworld? How touching… but I seemed to have seen you wrong, Killer. You disappoint me.” General Profar muttered with a sigh. “I heard about the group trying to go against the Imperial Court, and of course I had heard of your illustrious name… but never would I think you would be so foolish to choose a dying path…”
“Ha ha ha, is that so, but I guess you have overestimated me, Great General. After all, there are treasures in this world, one cannot help but choose instead of other materialistic things…that even one’s life cannot be compared…”
“… …” Ezra’s body stiffened, seemingly petrified as she stared at the back that seemed large and big for some reason, in front of her. Her heart beat so fast it was ringing on her ears. “…though,” Then, she heard him say again. “…I am not a good person, so I still have a long life ahead of me. I can still live longer than you old fart…so, concluding that we would die here, don’t you think that it’s too soon for dreaming…?”
“Heh, say what you want, but it’s a pointless gesture. You are now a trapped mouse, you or that human, I’ll not let a single mouse escape from here…!” When General Profar said that--
“Don’t misunderstand me now…I know that and that’s the reason I can’t afford to hold back… but what about you? Can you really hold me back?” The masked hooded man grinned behind his mask.
